“Thanks, guys,” Kennedy said and then looked up at Hennessey’s father. “And thank you, Mr. Ryan.”
“Oh, don’t mention it,” Mr. Ryan replied. “I just thank you for being able to fill in for my daughter.”
“No problem,” Kennedy said, and then looked at the trophy. “Here, you can keep this.” She handed the trophy to Mr. Ryan.
“Oh, no, you keep it. You earned it with that nasty jumper of yours.”
Kennedy smiled. “Thank you, but really, you keep it.”
“Don’t you want to have it to remember this day by?” Mr. Ryan asked.
Kennedy looked up at her mother then back to Mr. Ryan. “Nahh,” she said. “Trust me, Mr. Ryan; I’ll remember this day forever.”
Mr. Ryan accepted the trophy then walked away.
“I’m so proud of you, Kennedy,” Sammi said as she put her hands on each of Kennedy’s shoulders.”
“Thanks, Mom.” In an attempt to avoid a mushy moment, Kennedy changed the subject. “So, can we have pizza tonight to celebrate my win?”
“Sure,” Sammi agreed. “I think there are a couple of frozen ones in the freezer at home. You can cook them up tonight for you and the girls because I have plans.”
There was dead silence as horrified looks appeared on the Soul Sister’s faces. Before either girl could protest or begin to question their mother, Sammi smiled, snapped her finger, pointed and yelled out, “Gotcha!”
“Oh, Mom,” the girls said in unison as they each exhaled a sigh of relief.
“See, you three aren’t the only ones who know how to play tricks on people,” Sammi said as she pat herself on the back.
“Yeah, that was a good one, Mom,” Kennedy admitted.
“I knooowwww,” Daryn said.
“Yeah, that was a good one,” Joy repeated as the three girls burst out laughing.
“Did I miss something?” Sammi wasn’t familiar with the Triplets and therefore had no idea that her daughters were imitating them.
“No, Mom, you didn’t miss a thing,” Kennedy said. “How about we go out for that pizza?”
“Lead the way, champ,” Sammi said as Kennedy led her family out of the gym. “So where are we having pizza?” she said once they were in the parking lot.
“Dominoes,” Kennedy shouted.
“No, Pizza Hut,” Daryn said.
“I want Donatos,” Joy pouted.
The girls began to bicker and argue all the way to the car. Ordinarily Sammi would have been frustrated and upset with the girls’ back and forth, but today she just walked and smiled, glad that things really were back to normal.
THE END
Be sure to be on the look out for another installment of the Soul Sisters in
Operation Get Mom and Her Boyfriend Back Together
Once again, the girls find something else to agree upon, that Skylar, their mother’s ex-boyfriend’s son, is absolutely groovy. With each of the sisters digging him, they once again manage to agree on one thing; that as long as Bo is in the picture, then so will Skylar. Now it seems as though their plan has changed from operation get rid of Mom’s new boyfriend, to operation get Mom and her boyfriend back together. The girls will have to do back flips in order to convince Bo to give the ready made family another chance. But even that might not work.
