Benediction: Diversion Book 9 Page 28

by Eden Winters

Then again, maybe he’d put off the inevitable long enough. After all, Bo and Lucky Schollenberger had become the stuff of legend at the SNB, after they defied the rules and became partners both on and off the job.

Alejandro Schollenberger could always follow his fathers’ footsteps in more than just the job.

He took a deep breath and waited until the uniformed officers were out of earshot with the two suspects. “Hey, Elliot, I’m going to visit my folks this weekend. Wanna come?” His heart pounded as he waited for an answer. Please, please, please, please, please.

And please let his Papa’s hardnosed reputation not scare the guy off.

The smile Elliot gave Andro made his mouth go dry. “Lucky doesn’t really bite, does he?”

“Nah, that’s just a crazy rumor.” Perpetuated by the very same Papa, but still. “If he tries, my dad will call him off.”

  “Then sure.”

This weekend. He’d tell Elliot this weekend.

A crash sounded from the airshaft. Andro whipped around. “What the fuck just happened?”

Two uniformed officers turned in unison. “Um… the shaft stopped working and dropped the suspect two floors.

Fuck. Andro was getting too old for this shit.

  ALL ABOUT EDEN WINTERS

You will know Eden Winters by her distinctive white plumage and exuberant cry of “Hey, y’all!” in a Southern US drawl so thick it renders even the simplest of words unrecognizable. Watch out, she hugs!

Driven by insatiable curiosity, she possibly holds the world’s record for curriculum changes to the point that she’s never quite earned a degree but is a force to be reckoned with at Trivial Pursuit. She’s trudged down hallways with police detectives, learned to disarm knife-wielding bad guys, and witnessed the correct way to blow doors off buildings. Her e-mail contains various snippets of forensic wisdom, such as “What would a dead body left in a Mexican drug tunnel look like after six months?” In the process of her adventures she has written twenty-four m/m romance novels, has won several Rainbow Awards, was a Lambda Awards Finalist, and lives in terror of authorities showing up at her door to question her Internet searches.

When not putting characters in dangerous situations she’s a mild-mannered business executive, mother, grandmother, vegetarian, and PFLAG activist. Her natural habitats are airports, coffee shops, and the backs of motorcycles.
