  MAIN COURTYARD AT THE NEZU SHRINE

  This is the entrance to the main courtyard of the Nezu Shrine.

  RIKUGI-EN GARDEN

  This is the famous garden in Komagome where Kenji and Yumi go to talk after Ichiro forbids her to help Kenji with his investigation. Rikugi-en was made by the 5th shogun’s grand chamberlain in 1695, cleverly designed to include 88 views that are described in famous waka (31-syllable) poems.

  ENTRANCE TO THE YASUKUNI SHRINE

  This is the giant torii leading to the main gate at the Yasukuni shrine.

  PRAYER PLAQUES

  These wooden plaques are sold at every shrine, and also at many temples. One side is printed with a design particular to the temple or the zodiac year, the other is left blank for a handwritten prayer.
