“Right, then,” he said. “Goodbye, Annja love. And thanks for everything.”
“Goodbye, Aidan,” she said from low in her throat.
He turned and walked jauntily down the steps toward the vast and teeming city, leaving Annja standing alone in the shadow of Christ the Redeemer with his arms outstretched to the world.
