Noryad grins and answers, “She is pregnant.”
Bruce smiles as a happiness he hasn’t felt in years overtakes him. “Thank you, my King. It means a lot to me to know that.”
Noryad smiles again and replies, “Don’t thank me. Thank the Goddess for that gift.” Noryad says a mental thank you to the Goddess, but then another image assaults him. As he watches a city being consumed in flames, Noryad yells, “SHIT!”
Bruce is surprised at what Noryad said and asks, “What’s wrong?”
“I saw your city on fire, but I don’t know if it’s currently happening or not. I need to go and see if it’s happening now. Go and wake up everyone. Tell them to meet me in the Throne Room.”
“Right away sir,” Bruce says and he jumps down from the balcony and heads to the rooms where he, Xandar and the rest of them are staying.
Noryad runs into his room to change clothes and wake up Coral. Coral wakes up and upon hearing why Noryad is in such a hurry, gets up and gets dressed. They leave the room and run to the Throne Room. Everyone else is already there waiting for them, except for Merlin. Noryad calls Nohar; Tell Merlin what is happening and let him know that we will be back soon. He doesn’t wait for Nohar’s reply before he explains the vision he saw to everyone, but he makes it very clear that he doesn’t know when it is happening.
Noryad opens the Portal but looks at Bruce and asks, “Where are we heading?”
Xandar steps forward and says, “Give me your hand, my King.”
Noryad stretches out his hand and upon contact with Xandar’s he gets an image of the place they have to go. Focusing only on the place he has to go, he closes the portal and opens it again, making sure the place they are heading is the one reflected in the portal. Xandar and his men nod their confirmation and everyone starts walking toward the portal. The last one in is Noryad and his thoughts are; I hope there’s nothing happening.
Chapter 35
The portal opens and they step out into a blazing inferno. Noryad is the first one to come up and everyone is screaming around them. He uses his power to manipulate the weather and make it rain, but that doesn’t stop the fire. It only fuels its consumption.
Xandar is screaming at his men, telling them go get their families. Noryad yells to all of them while he is giving them a magic ear piece, like the one he created for Dana. “PUT THIS IN YOUR EAR AND CONTACT ME ONCE YOU HAVE A LARGE GROUP OF PEOPLE SECURE! I WILL OPEN A PORTAL AND SEND THEM TO MY KINGDOM!”
Everyone nods and disperses throughout the city in search of their families as Noryad and Coral head to the center of the city. It appears to be the source of the fire. When they get there they encounter a lot of Destroyers destroying and killing anyone who comes close to them. Noryad stops one of the people running away and asks him, “Who are they?”
The person answers with fear evident in his eyes, “They are Destroyer scavengers. They come from time to time to attack the city and see if there’s anyone alive. We have always driven them back, but this time our fighters weren’t here because they left on an important mission. They went to look for our King. Who are you and why don’t you know anything about this?”
Noryad, with a sad expression on his face, answers, “I am your King.”
The person drops to his knees, “Forgive me, your majesty, for speaking out of turn.”
“Rise and do not worry. You have spoken your mind and I appreciate and respect that. I need to ask you to do something for me, but I need to know your name first.”
The person bows deeply and answers, “My name is Jack, your majesty, and I will help you in any way I can.”
“Jack, I want you to gather everyone running away and get them together in a safe place.”
Jack nods and answers, “I will, your majesty.”
As Jack runs off Noryad uses his powers to make a big sphere and he contains the source of the fire inside of it, and a few of the scavengers are trapped inside, too. After a few minutes the fire and the scavengers inside the sphere die. The rest of the scavengers in the area face Noryad with a mixture of hate, anger, and bloodlust dancing in their eyes. Noryad raises a barrier around himself and Coral and says to her, “I will keep the barrier up, but I need to look for help.” Then he closes his eyes, separates his soul from his body and dives into the river of the dead. Hear my call, fighters of this land. Your city is going to burn to the ground. Will you stay still and let the fire kill the families you left behind or will you join your King, who has come to protect those you love, and help them remain alive?
Noryad returns to his body, not waiting for an answer and as soon as he joins with his body again he feels the souls starting to appear behind him. The leader calls to Noryad mentally: You have called, your grace, and we are here to answer your call. Grant us the strength to fight and defend our loved ones and we shall not leave anyone who wishes to harm them alive. Noryad, using his power, answers them: Pass through the barrier and once everyone is on the other side I will grant you the strength to bring your enemies down, but don’t hurt anyone innocent.
The leader answers: It shall be done.
Coral sees the large number of souls that have gathered behind Noryad and knows they are having a mental conversation. She watches the souls and sees how each one is a warrior from a war that happened millenniums ago. As a whole they start walking toward the barrier and they pass through it like it isn’t there. She watches as they turn and look at Noryad’s location and she looks at him, too. He is sweating heavily and she turns back in time to see the souls of the warriors become solid and take off running rampant, killing every scavenger in the area.
It is a brutal blood bath, but once they are done they turn to face Noryad, who drops down the barrier and walks toward them. “I thank you. Would you mind doing this with the rest of the city? I will let you run free as long you don’t kill an innocent. I will know the moment you do and I will curse your soul to walk this earth forever.”
The leader bows to Noryad in respect as he reassures him, “we will never kill our own and risk the wrath of the King of the Dead.” He bows again and they disappear.
Noryad looks at Coral, walks toward her and kisses her on the lips, which catches her off guard, but she returns the affection. When he breaks the kiss Noryad walks to the middle of the city and makes the weather cloudy and damp, making it rain hard to kill the fire. Once he is done he walks towards Coral, leans against the wall and says, “Let’s wait for everyone to come back.” She nods her agreement as the sun starts to poke through the dark clouds that Noryad summoned.
Chapter 36
Xandar and his men have split up, each one taking off to a different part of the city to get their partner and family. Bruce is desperate to get to Rachel, she is in danger and he can feel it. He knows that if he continues like this he will be useless. He has to calm down, but when he makes it to his house he sees four scavengers outside, putting fire around the house. He takes out his sword and runs one through with it from behind, stabbing him through the heart and after a moment the scavenger turns to black sand and blows away in the breeze. The other three turn to face him and two of them attack. One gets in a blow before he can get his sword up and he is cut on his chest.
He looks at the scavengers and his eyes start glowing while he snarls at them. Before they know what’s happening he starts attacking them with swift movement. Taking his time with them and using his senses, instincts and reflexes he stabs, kicks and evades as they continue defending themselves. He feels a slash from behind, and not turning around, he kicks whoever is behind him, sending them flying back into a nearby tree.
Using his superior hearing, Bruce hears Rachel’s heartbeat increase and then he hears her screams. He knows she has been caught. His attacks become more erratic and the scavengers start playing with him, knowing he is desperate. Then he hears Rachel scream again, but this time at the entrance of the house. “BRUCE SAVE ME!” she yells over and over again until she sees him and sees that he is cut and bleeding from diffe
rent places. She puts her hand to her mouth and hides a scream of shock as she watches his wounds slowly heal themselves.
He hadn’t realized until now, but it’s raining and the fire is slowly being put out. He says a silent thank you to Noryad as he turns to face the situation happening before him. His head is calmer and he is able to fully concentrate now.
He looks at Rachel pleadingly. “Rachel, I am sorry I arrived too late and I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner.” Then right in front of her eyes he starts to change. His eyes start glowing red and he howls. He snarls viciously and starts running faster than the scavenger’s eyes can follow. Bruce grabs the first one by the throat and snaps his neck with one hand before he drops him to the ground. He runs faster to the next one and he stops behind him, before he realizes what’s happening, Bruce cuts his throat from one side to the other leaving him to fall to the ground and bleed to death. The last one is holding Rachel by her neck as they watch what’s happening in front of them.
Bruce stops a few feet in front of them and he says to the scavenger, “Let her go or you will suffer the same fate as your friends.”
The scavenger laughs humorlessly and says, “I won’t suffer what happened to them. You will see me kill the woman you hold dear right in front of your eyes.” Then he lifts his hand and reveals a knife in it.
Bruce, with a cold expression on his face and red, glowing eyes, watches the scavenger move his hand as he takes a short knife from his belt and throws it, stabbing the scavenger through the hand holding Rachel, making him release her. She runs as soon as she’s released and Bruce pulls his sword out again. Running faster than before, he cuts the scavenger’s limbs off one by one, leaving him on the ground bleeding to death and screaming in pain.
Remembering, to his horror, that Rachel has seen a side of him he has been afraid to show her, he turns around and Rachel is there looking at him with his shirt ragged, the cuts on his body completely healed. He looks at her with sorrow in his eyes and says, “I am sorry. You must despise me now.”
He turns around and starts to walk away, but after only a few steps he feels Rachel’s hand on his back and she says, “Don’t leave. I don’t despise you. I have seen the man that will do whatever it takes to protect his family. I love you.”
Bruce hugs her close and uses the magic ear piece to contact Noryad, “I got her and she is safe.” He says Noryad before turning back to Rachel, “I love you, too.”
Chapter 37
Xandar is running through a large group of scared people and he stops long enough to yell loud enough for everyone to hear him, “EVERYONE FOLLOW ME! I WILL KEEP YOU SAFE UNTIL OUR KING ARRIVES!” Everyone stops, turns around and starts following him. As more people hear the news of the King coming to help them, they follow Xandar and upon arriving at his house Xandar sees his house is surrounded by scavengers and sees that no one inside is fighting them.
His thoughts instantly jump to his wife, Charlotte and he howls loud enough for everyone with him to put their hands over their ears. Xandar hears the howls of his men, knowing they are fighting their own battles, but they have made sure to answer his call. From the forest surrounding the house more people with glowing red eyes start appearing and he turns to the one behind him and says, “Take care of everyone and make them stay away. I will come and get you when I am finished.”
The person nods and starts telling everyone to stay back as Xandar takes out his guns, which are loaded with holy water-laced bullets, and starts shooting the scavengers around his house. They turn their attention to him, but realize they are surrounded and are being attacked. Some of them try running away, but the ones closer strike them down with their swords and other weapons.
After killing a bunch more Xandar runs to his house, using his super hearing to listen for anything out of the ordinary in his house. He hears an erratic beating coming from his bedroom and he runs toward it. Through the window he sees a Destroyer in his room and Charlotte unconscious on the bed. He runs and jumps though the window and tackles the scavenger. Once the scavenger is on the ground Xandar starts attacking, but the scavenger uses sand to blind Xandar, and it works for a brief time.
Xandar is being cut on different parts of his body while he recovers from the sand in his eyes. When he’s finally able to see again he is bleeding heavily from his cuts. Snarling at the scavenger, he starts running around him, cutting him in different places. The scavenger is trying to defend himself, but he is unable to do so because Xandar is too fast for his eyes and body to follow. When Xandar finally stops in front of the scavenger he reaches through his chest, grabs his heart with his hand, rips it out and crushes it before the scavenger knows what’s happening. As the black ash falls to the floor, Xandar goes to his room, gets Charlotte and goes back to the humans and Behemoth who are waiting for him. While he is walking he uses his magic ear piece to contact Noryad, “I am heading there now and I have around a thousand people with me.”
Chapter 38
Gray has been hearing the news about scavengers in the city from the people running. He has put his gauntlets and greaves on and is running in the opposite direction of the people. He turns a corner and stops when he sees a huge scavenger using a giant hammer to hit people. Gray starts running again and pushes the person who is about to be hit by the hammer out of the way. The scavenger roars in frustration at Gray for stopping the attack, causing Gray to smile and howl. Then he realizes it’s raining hard and the “x” on his cheek is hurting.
Using his gauntlets and greaves, ice magic with his hands and fire magic with his feet, Gray starts punching the scavenger. The places he hits on the body gets cold and it starts to freeze. The scavenger tries to hit Gray and his swings become more erratic with every failed attempt, making it easy for Gray to continue attacking and evading. He knows that it is almost time to end this game and finish him when the scavenger gets in a lucky hit, sending him flying back into a wall. The scavenger is moving again. Running toward Gray, who is still trying to get up and recover from the hit against the wall. When the scavenger is close a tall woman with milky white skin, long blonde hair, gray eyes, a nice round ass, breasts a man can feast on, and deep red painted kissable lips walks out from behind the building Gray is leaning against. She is dressed in warrior clothes, has a double edge ninja sword combat machete in each hand, and walks toward the scavenger, spinning her machetes as she passes Gray. He can’t help but be amazed by the beauty of the blonde warrior and whistles at her as she passes. “NICE ASS!” he shouts to her causing her to look back and rake her gaze over him. “Glad you like it. You don’t look so bad yourself, hot stuff.”
Gray grins and tries to pull himself off the wall. “Tell me your name. Mine’s Gray.”
“I’m Christina, now enjoy the show.” She says and start running toward the scavenger. Moving swiftly, she attacks the scavenger cutting his knees and bringing him down to her level. He is screaming in pain, but cannot move to defend himself because Christina continues to cut him. When she’s done she stops in front of the scavenger and puts her machetes against his neck in the form of an “x” and decapitates him.
Once the scavenger falls to the floor and turns to dust she walks toward Gray and helps him get up. Gray leans on her, reaches back and grabs her ass. She grabs his dick in response and says, “If you touch me again you will lose this.” She applies pressure to his dick before saying “Deal?”
Gray starts laughing and says, “You have a deal.” Then he contacts Noryad and lets him know that he is heading his way and he is bringing company, not realizing that the people are following him and Christina.
Chapter 39
Dorian is running to get his mate, Deana, and as he’s running he can’t help but picture her. She is short in height with milky white skin, a lush, curvy body, dark blonde hair, sparkly blue eyes and ripped arm and leg muscles. He suddenly arrives at his house, not encountering any people on the way, but once he’s there he sees his house is full of people and Deana has out her Dragon Wind
staff, using her abilities as a wind mage to fight the scavengers. She is attacking them through the staff and he stands there, transfixed by her breasts, which are begging him for attention and are more than enough to fill his hands and lips. He looks at the curve of her ass, dragging his eye toward the dimple of her spine, and can’t help but recall the softness of her curves as they invite him to linger there and bring her against him.
Dorian is looking at her, remembering the last night they were together, when she sees him and yells, “Adrian! Get your ass over here and help me.”
Dorian gets his bow and summons a few arrows in his hand. As he’s walking he’s shooting arrows, each one of them hitting a different scavenger. While Deana uses her Dragon Wind staff, making the wind create small tornadoes, Dorian uses his bow and arrows to kill the scavengers. There are three scavengers still alive and Dorian notches an arrow for each one of them and shoots them simultaneously, hitting each one of the targets.
Once they are all dead Deana rushes to his side and hugs him, “Adrian, I have missed you.”
Dorian brings her into a strong embrace and softly kisses her lips. “It seems you still love my middle name and I like how it sounds when it comes out from those kissable lips.”
Deana smiles and says, “I will continue using it until you get used to it. We have some wounded here and are going to need help getting them to safety.”
Dorian turns serious and says, “I have gotten used to it. I will contact the King to let him know about the wounded.”
“The King? What King? Adrian, we don’t have a King.”
“Oh, my dear, but we do. Just wait until you meet him. You will have no choice, but to kneel.”
Dorian contacts Noryad saying, “My liege, this is Adrian. I have a large group of people and my mate, but we need help. There are wounded who need help and assistance asap.”
