“You try bloody stopping me!”
A few muttered ‘goodbyes’, ‘I love you babes’ and promises to give each other a bell―whatever the fuck that means―in the manner of all women who can’t seem to simply put the phone down. Then Drum loses his patience and ends the call by pressing the key, which gets him a glare from Sophie. He ignores her and leans right back in his chair, propping one foot up against the edge of the table, and running a hand over his beard.
“Well, fuck me,” he says after a moment, shaking his head in disbelief. We’ve plotted murders and takedowns in this very room, and almost everything in between, but that must be the most bizarre phone call we’ve ever had. Then he starts to laugh, “Looks like the Satan’s Devils motorcycle club gonna be in attendance at a fuckin’ royal weddin’!”
As he bangs the gavel, we all hammer our fists on the table in approval.
Sophie throws her arms around my neck and leans back so she can look straight into my face, “Best fucking day ever!” she whispers to me.
Sean
When a ‘package’ is left for me at Grade A’s reception, I hardly expect it to be a baby, nor to discover after DNA testing that she is mine. Fuck, me with a daughter? And I’ve no idea who the mother is – I’ve always been so careful! But the wording of the note left with the baby suggests whoever she is she’s in trouble, so now I’ve got to discover her identity and then find and help her. All I know is that I was working in Amahad when the baby must have been conceived, so I return to that Arab country to call on the help of my old friends, members of the Kassis royal family.
Ben teams me up with Vanessa – I’ve no idea why. She hates me. It will be her first time investigating in the field and I know she isn’t prepared to be thrown into something like this. Together we start our search not realising it will end up with lives at stake, including our own.
Vanessa
I’ve always fancied Sean, well, who wouldn’t? But when I discover he’s fathered a child and has no idea who the mother is it brings home to me his manwhoring ways. He’s never going to change, is he?
And then there’s the baby. It’s not that I have an aversion to children, but any young child reminds me of a past I’m ashamed off and brings back many painful memories I’d much rather forget.
So when Ben offers me my first job out of the office, I protest going anywhere with Sean, but my boss is insistent. Then in Amahad I grow to see the man underneath the shallow exterior and it gets harder to resist my attraction to him. Gradually he learns my darkest secrets and the key to my heart.
But our search for Mollie’s missing mother leads us into danger. Will we be able to stay alive long enough to explore what could be between us?

A massive ‘Thank You’ to my beta readers, Alex Clark, Colleen, Foua, and of course, Steve who helped make sure any reference to motorcycles was correct. Your encouraging feedback and suggestions for improving the book were invaluable.
Cover design and formatting by Freeyourwords. Lia, you excelled yourself this time! I absolutely love the cover design you came up with!
Editing by Phil Henderson – thanks for knocking this book into shape, Phil. Enjoyed working with you.
I can’t thank my husband enough for his support and encouragement, even taking the step nowadays to be a beta reader. For Turning Wheels this was invaluable as he’s a biker and came up with some interesting tips and information for me to use. And my son must get a mention, even if it’s only because he tells me he’s proud of his mum.
And of course, I’m grateful to everyone who’s taken the time to read Turning Wheels. If you enjoyed it, please leave a review – writers write in a vacuum, locked away in their lonely towers. We love to know what you think of our efforts and appreciate all feedback we receive.

About the Author
After commuting for too many years to London working in various senior management roles, Manda Mellett left the rat race and now fulfils her dream and writes full time. She draws on her background in psychology, the experience of working in different disciplines and personal life experiences in her books.
Manda lives in the beautiful countryside of North Essex with her husband and two slightly nutty Irish Setters. Walking her dogs gives her the thinking time to come up with plots for her novels, and she often dictates ideas onto her phone on the move, while looking over her shoulder hoping no one is around to listen to her. Manda’s other main hobby is reading, and she devours as many books as she can.
Her biggest fan is her gay son (every mother should have one!). Her favourite pastime when he is home is the late night chatting sessions they enjoy, where no topic is taboo, and usually accompanied by a bottle of wine or two.
