The Book of the Magi Page 22

“you coward, this was not supposed to end this way,” Lucuris yelled as he saw the many demons feasting on their once master. He felt hollow, like what happened was not a victory, not even close. He could see the wary looks his friends had as they stood in the air close to their familiars looking back at Lucuris, wondering what has happened.

  Chapter 34

“it seems Matius played his part in the master’s plan,” Lucidian said to Lucien as their eyes focused on one another as they held their staves to their sides.

“why are you doing all this, why did you betray the council, betrayed our world,” Lucien said to Lucidian as his eyes grew angrier with each word coming from his mouth.

Lucidian floated closer to Lucien as his eyes grew softer. “The council are nothing but old fools. Have you ever wondered why they always needed an army of us? Why they hid blood magic under our very own noses?” Lucidian said to Lucien as he started to cut his hand open.

His blood began flowing from the sky and began to crawl up and around Lucidians arms until they were solid with sharpen blades at his elbows and coated his hands until they looked like claws. “This is the magic they tried to hide, the magic they would have used against our people,” Lucidian said to Lucien sounding angrier by the second.

“So, you decided to go against our people. To take up forbidden magic of blood, you know why we do not use it for what reason to get revenge?” Lucien said to Lucidian as he took his staff and aimed it in front of him.

“I did it to save our people. You have no idea what is to come, but I do. I will save them all and take down those who lied to us,” Lucidian said as he started to claw at Lucien cutting his robe and piercing his skin.

Lucien felt betrayed by someone he once called brother, someone who was there with him in battle, who watched his back. The anger and sadness he felt was overwhelming, but he knew he had to try and stop Lucidian at any cost.

“You will come back to our planet and answer for your crimes,” Lucien said to Lucidian as he shot a large bolt of energy in front of him.

“Your magic is useless, it is worthless, don’t you understand what is at stake,” Lucidian said out loud in anger as he threw darts of blood at Lucien piercing and slashing parts of his robes.

Both Mages were at odds with one another. Both of them felt betrayed and had their own reasons. Different mindsets of what to do and what was fair but in the end they both felt the same thing. They both felt that they wanted to save their people, to protect those around them.

“Why, why would you join a monster like Matius, and who is this master,” Lucien said to Lucidian pleading for some answers as he lowered his staff.

“The truth, to get close to the one he saw as his master. To find out why our world and this world is something they are after. Like yourself I do not have answers to my questions but if I get close, and show loyalty I can find them,” Lucidian said to Lucien with sorrow in his eyes.

Lucien looked as his brother, his old partner and nodded. He did not understand a lot at what was going on, but he knew that if Lucidian was willing to damned himself and to go to the darkest of paths that he had a reason to. “Go forth brother….do what must be done to save us, to save them all,” Lucien said looking at his brother one last time before he darted back towards Lucuris and his friends.

Lucidian then opened a portal in the sky and traveled back to where his master was, and knew that if it came down to it he would sacrifice himself if it meant his people could be saved from the darkness that he knew was shrouding his planet.

  Chapter 35

A few days later after the attack the only ones who remembered the attack was Lucuris and his friends. No one remembered anything and the news just reported there being a huge storm at night, but the world itself did not know of Mages, demons, and any other magic that was hidden away from them.

Everyone met at the hospital where Oracle was recovering from holding up that barrier for so long.He was just tired and needed rest, but everyone knew that he lost just as much as them if not more during the battle.Lucuris saw his friend with Abigail,Nick,Jessica,Joey, and Azabel and he could not help but feel guilty for everything. “You did great work buddy…I am sorry I could not help you, but you helped us with everything,” Lucuris said to Oracle trying to hold tears back.

“Only because I had all of you to help me. I am just glad it is all over,” Oracle said as he looked around his hospital room staring at all his friends.

But before anyone could say anything Lucien opened the door and motion for Lucuris to follow him. Outside the room Lucien looked at his son and smiled, knowing that tomorrow was safe, but he knew that he had to leave. Lucien knew that he could not stay and help Lucuris, even if he wanted to. “I must go Lucuris…back home and to the council,” Lucien said to Lucuris placing his hand upon his sons’ shoulder.

“Father I can help you. To finally see mother let me go with you,” Lucuris said to Lucien as he could feel himself yearn to see his mother for the first time.

“I wish I could, but it is far to dangerous…there is something I must do at home, but don’t worry I will make sure your mother is safe,” Lucien said to Lucuris as he started to smile.

Lucuris did not want his father to go, he wanted to join him if he could, but he knew that something was going on and they all had their parts to play. “Please be safe father…I will keep my friends safe as they always keep me out of harm's way,” Lucuris said to Lucien with a smile on his face.

Lucien knew his son was in good hands. He saw how hard they fought to protect each other, the bond they had reminded him of the bond he shared with those he held close to himself. “Always keep your family safe. They may be your friends son, but they are your family,” Lucien said to Lucuris as he held his son, told him he loved him and opened a portal with his staff and vanished in an instant.

Lucuris returned to Oracles room and told his friends where his father went. He also knew that he had to do something himself. “You guys I’m going to leave too,” Lucuris said out loud trying not to be nervous.

“What do you mean you are leaving, we just got done fighting and we can finally go back to what normal lives we had,” Abigail said to Lucuris as she started to tug at his arms with tears rolling down her face.

“You all showed me that my life is not just another life. You showed me happiness, true friendship. But the battle isn’t over, and I have to travel to find why this great evil is coming after our dimension,” Lucuris said out loud as he held Abigail close to him. “To protect the ones I call my family,”

“Can’t we go with you, we could fight together and keep each other safe,” Nick said to Lucuris with a stunned look on his face at the thought of someone he knew for what felt like forever was going off and leaving.

“That may be true but if I am here this city will never be safe, and they need protection from any demons that may spawn for some sort of revenge from whatever we are dealing with,” Lucuris said to everyone as he went to Oracle to say goodbye.

Oracle was sad, he could feel his eyes swelling and tears beginning to form, but he knew Lucuris. “Return as soon as possible and the next time we are together Lucuris I will protect you, and we will fight side by side,” Oracle said to Lucuris with small tears breaking away from his eyes as he started to laugh.

Jessica then interrupted them and grabbed Lucuris and kissed him, “I want you back here in one piece now go show them who they are messing with and when you come back you better not leave me again,” Jessica said to Lucuris as she smiled at him with all the joy in her heart.

“I know you will help protect them, like you do me.You are my guardian angel and fill me with confidence, I love you Jessica,” Lucuris said to Jessica as he turned around and walked out of Oracles room, leaving his friends behind and walking off to another city that could have answers or clues about the great evil heading their way. To find out if his dimension was in peril, and to find out if he had what it took to stand on his own two feet and
face the problems that his arrival has caused head on.

He had to find the connection between him, and this master who was after him, but he knew he needed more. If there was a war that was going to happen, he had to find more people to help them fight back. Maybe find crystals in his world to wield more power to help them.

  Epilogue

Beyond the city, and beyond the planet itself the dimension was one that many tried to prey on before. But he knew, the great devour some called this being knew that the main plane was slowly being eaten away. By giving them false hope in a better tomorrow the old one bellowed with laughter. To see the planets veil slowly tear down so they all could come out and feast upon the humans. “The boy grows stronger Ashahoth…we thought that warlock could destroy them but all he did was die like old Mages usually do,” A dark, cold voice hissed as they peer their eyes through the veil looking at Lucuris as he left his city.

“Do you think this boy would cause us any trouble my master? He comes from their world, the ones who tried to banish us completely. He wields part of your heart,” Ashahoth said as their eyes pierced sharply at Lucuris.

“I am Cahuduthun and we along with many others have devoured many worlds in many dimensions. There have been countless heroes who tried to destroy us but so long as there is darkness we exist. They think they hold a crystal, that gives them power. They do not know it all. What this Lucuris wields now is the key to letting me free, and soon they will search for the others. There are many keys, that have locked up the others, but soon the doors will open wide and they will know how foolish they were. Cahuduthun said as the darkness that held them grew darker and laughter started to erupt that would give anyone nightmares for weeks.

The keys to let the old ones out, and the freedom to harvest all that humanity created. Once the keys were gathered and together, they could be used to unleash horror upon the world. Where darkness ruled the land once more, and not even an army of Mages could defeat them all. These beings were old and lived longer than any big in the existence of any kind. Abilities that could warp someone's mind, and their sense of reality, and all anyone could do is lay on the ground and die. The battle was won by Lucuris and his friends, but the war was just beginning, for many other dark creatures could feel the keys calling for them in hopes of setting the other old ones free.
