  “Is he dead?”

“Maybe, if the current stopped his heart. Check for a heartbeat.”

“Okay, okay… He’s coming to, but he’s not coherent. What do I need to do?”

“Get him driving, unless you want more pain.”

  “Drive where?”

“I don’t give a fuck. But I would suggest staying away from busy areas so cops don’t notice you.”

  “Why?”

“The car has stolen license plates. If you get pulled over one or more of the sensors will be activated.”

“Why are you doing this to us?”

“You thought it was okay to steal my car. You wanted it, now you got it.”

“Why would you do this over a fucking car? You’re fucking sick, dude. Where did you come up with this shit?”

“Page seventy-two in the vigilante’s handbook.”

  He stayed quiet.

  “You there?”

  “Yeah.”

“Just don’t sit there dumbfounded. Slap your buddy and get his ass in gear before more bad shit happens.”

He shook Tommy. “Wake up, dude, we have to go.” He got my attention. “He’s coming around.”

“Good. And by the way, I left some money in the center console for gas when it gets low. I also installed a fifty-gallon tank to keep you on the road longer.”

“How we supposed to get out and pump it? I have the rods stuck through my legs and Tommy’s seat belt won’t release.”

“You pay someone to do it.”

“I thought Tommy will get shocked if we park too long?”

“You let me worry about that.” I knew the shocking circuit would be delayed as long as the fuel door was open, but I didn’t want to tell him that.

“So, then what? We just drive?”

  “You’re catching on.”

  “For how long?”

“Until the wheels fall off that bitch or until you’re dead.”

“What? What do you mean? You can’t be serious?”

“You have no idea. The car has so many booby-traps that it’s a fuckin’ rollin’ torture chamber. And you need to get your ass movin’ quickly—the timer is counting down.”

  “I need to piss.”

  “Then piss.”

  “Where?”

“Your pants as far as I care. Tick tock, numb nuts.”

I could see that Tommy had tears running down his cheeks and slobber dripping from his mouth as he regained consciousness. He heard what I had been saying and leaned over towards the phone as Josh held it up between them. “Dude, you’re so gonna pay for this.”

Josh muted the phone. “Shut the fuck up, dude. We need to play it cool for now. Didn’t you hear what this fucker said about the car and how it’s wired with booby-traps? Let’s get moving.”

“Alright. We’re going.” Tommy put the car in gear and took off down the street.

Josh pointed to a road. “Make this turn here. It goes out in the country. There shouldn’t be any cops out that way.”

A few miles down the road Tommy became angry. “This is fucked up. He can’t think we’re just going to drive forever. Motherfucker is crazy. He’s gonna pay for what he has done. Tell him we’ll meet him somewhere, then we’ll get his ass.” He pulled a pistol from his waistband and handed it to Josh. “You can act wounded. That way he won’t pay any attention to you.”

Josh looked at his legs. “I am. Can’t you see what the fuck he did to me?”

“Quit whining. You’re acting like a bitch. My skin feels burnt as shit from being shocked, but I’m not crying about it.”

“Fuck you!” Josh unmuted the phone. “Hey, dude, we’re back to driving.”

“That’s good. You fools just need to play it cool. And don’t get stupid.”

Tommy had a chicken shit grin. “Let’s meet up somewhere.”

“How do I know y’all won’t try to shoot me?”

Tommy looked at Josh and smiled. “Because I don’t have a gun.”

“Yeah, but that whining bitch does.”

I could see the blood leave Josh’s face. He muted the phone. “He must have heard us.”

Tommy grabbed the phone and looked at it. “You dumb fuck! You must have not muted it.”

“I know I did. That’s not it.” He looked around the car, then pointed to something on his side of the dash. “Is that a camera?”

Tommy stared at it for a moment, then unmuted the phone. “You’re a sneaky fucker. We found your camera.”

“So.” I knew they were looking at a decoy.

“So, fuck you.” He looked at Josh. “Break the motherfucker.”

Josh started hitting it with his fist. “The damn thing won’t break.” He tried to rip it off the dash. “It’s stuck.”

I spoke out. “Hey, dumbasses, that’s not a good idea.”

“Fuck you, dude.” Tommy hung up the phone.

Jack was excited as he stared at the TV. “What’s gonna happen when he breaks it?”

I looked over at him. “Just watch and you’ll see.”

Josh found a can of de-icer in the glove box next to a roll of duct tape, then leaned forward and struck the fake camera with it. To his horror, a fireball engulfed his head, igniting his long hair and beard. Tommy was swerving all over the road as he helped Josh pat out the flames. By the time they got the flames out, most of his hair had been burned off and his scalp and parts of his face had severe burns. A thick cloud of smoke reeking of burnt flesh and hair filled the car. He looked over at Tommy in a panic. “Oh my God! How bad is it? My head and face are burning.”

Tommy had a worried look. “It will be alright. We’ll get you to a hospital.”

Josh wanted to see how bad he had been burned, so he reached for his sun visor to look in the mirror. When he pulled it down, numerous one-inch long flechettes came blowing out of a tube mounted in the dash and struck him all over the face and neck. He screamed out as he tried to pull one from his right eye, but it was stuck. Every time he pulled back on it, his eyeball would protrude from its socket. He turned towards Tommy. “Get it out of my eye! Oh my God! It’s killing me.”

Tommy was horrified as he looked at Josh, noticing his skin was bright red and starting to form blisters between the few patches of singed hair that were left. The dart shaped projectiles covered his entire face and neck, causing him to look like the Pinhead character from the Hellraiser series. Tommy started getting nauseated from the rancid odor that was lingering, so he pressed the button on his door to roll down his window. The window didn’t move, but several barbed spikes ejected from the door’s button console and impaled his hand. He screamed as he tried to pull back, but his hand was stuck to the door. He almost drove off the road and hit a culvert. His heart was racing when he got the car under control. He started to panic. “I’m going to the police.”

“You can’t. Didn’t you hear what he said about the booby-traps?”

“What else are we supposed to do?”

“Call that dude back. Tell him we’ll do whatever he asks.”

“You call him. I can’t hold the phone.”

Josh was gagging as he pulled flechettes from his skin while cupping his eye. “I can’t do it either. I have to get these out.” He looked at Tommy as he held his eye with his hand. The flechette was sticking out between his middle and ring finger. “Do you think I’m going to be blind?”

“Fuck, dude, I don’t know.” He looked around the car. “Where’s the cell phone?” He noticed it lying on the floorboard by his feet. “There it is.” He tried to reach down to get it, but his seat belt was too tight and the car swerved when he let go of the steering wheel. “I can’t let go of the wheel—the damn thing swerves too much. I’m going to kick it over to your side since your shoulder strap is cut and you can bend forward and get it.” He moved the phone with his foot, but it slid backwards. “Fuck! It went under my seat.”

Josh’s face was starting to swell and the pain was setting in. “Dude, I’m hurting
really bad. Let’s drive to the hospital. Maybe there is something they can do.”

Tommy thought about the nut stick that was hiding under his seat. “We can’t stop or open the doors.” He looked at Josh. “But I have an idea. Find a pen and some paper and write a note, explaining what’s going on. You can toss it out the window if we see a cop.”

Josh looked at Tommy’s hand as it was dripping blood. “I don’t want to get stuck like you did.”

“You won’t. You can break out the window with your elbow.”

“He’s not going to let us do that.”

Tommy looked at the broken camera on the dash. “How can he? His camera is broken.”

Josh’s eye got big. “You’re right.” He looked around his window. “I don’t see any sensors. Let’s do it.” He started to open the center console.

Tommy yelled out. “Wait! It could be wired.”

Josh shook his head. “No, he said there was money left in here for us to buy gas.”

  “Open it slowly.”

When Josh opened it, they closed their eyes for a second, waiting to see if something was going to happen. Tommy took a deep breath. “See if you can find a pen.”

Josh looked under a stack of money. Relief overcame him. “I see one. And there’s paper in here too.” When he grabbed the pen, he noticed it was secured to something. “Oh shit, I think it’s…” Before he could finish his sentence, a spring-loaded blade mounted on the inside of the console wall severed his hand at his wrist. Tommy was screaming louder than Josh’s screams as he waved his nub around, spraying blood all over the car. Tommy locked up the brakes. The car slid sideways and came to a stop in the center of the road. In a state of panic, he grabbed the door handle with his right hand and pulled. Suddenly he let out a horrifying yell. Josh was too preoccupied with his own pain to notice that Tommy was suffering.

Jack was confused. “What’s wrong with the driver? Did he get hit with the nut stick?”

“I’m not sure.” I walked closer to the screen. “I think so, but I don’t see it protruding out of his pants.” I examined him closer. “He’s a big dude and I didn’t position the rod for someone of his size. His balls are sitting further forward than what I had planned.” I turned and looked back. “I think the rod went in his ass or something.”

Mark started laughing as he hung from the post. “Better him than me.”

Jack shook his head. “You’re a fucking idiot. Have you seen yourself lately, you slinky looking bitch?”

“Fuck you and your wooden neck tie!”

I sat back in my seat. “Y’all don’t start up. I’ve already told y’all not do that shit while I’m around. At least act like you’re in a fucking torture chamber.”

Wyatt was shaking his head. “You’re making that shit up. I can’t see them acting that way.”

“No, I’m not. Not only have I told you the truth about everything, I haven’t even exaggerated. And don’t get the wrong idea. Only these two fucking idiots acted like this. Anyone else I would have cut out their tongue, or at least stretched the fuck out of it with a come-along.”

  “Why didn’t you?”

“They were entertaining. But in the end, they wound up getting theirs.”

“I would say so.” Wyatt read from his notes. “You cut off their tattoos, removed all the bones in their limbs, cut out their rib cages, cut off their hands and feet, sewed them into a pretzel, laid them in a cradle made of their bones, then hoisted them up into a large ventilation shaft where they lived for many years.”

Seth laughed. “It sounds bad when I hear it coming from someone else.”

Wyatt looked at Seth and smiled. “You know you’re a sick fucker, right?”

“Maybe not sick enough—that still didn’t shut the fuckers up.”

  Nut Stick

Wyatt yawned. “It’s getting late. Finish up what happened to Tommy and Josh.”

“Like I was telling Jack, I thought the nut stick had gone up his ass, but it turned out that it went into his perineum.”

  “What’s a perineum?”

“The tender skin between your balls and asshole.”

  Wyatt cringed. “That’s gross.”

“Tommy thought so, too. After the initial stun of the rod deploying, he started noticing a lot of pain coming from his rear-end. He was in shock as he stared straight ahead. Josh had finally calmed down and was in survival mode. He wrapped his shirt around his nub, then secured it in place with the duct tape that was in the glove box. He noticed Tommy was acting strange. “Dude, we’ll get out of this, but we have to be smart.” He noticed that Tommy was sitting still, looking out the windshield. “What the fuck is wrong with you? Get the fuck moving!”

Tommy looked at Josh. His face was flush. “I think one of those rods went inside me.”

Josh looked for the end of it. “I don’t see anything sticking out.”

  “It’s inside me.”

  “In your ass?”

“I don’t think so. I think it went in behind my balls.”

  “You sure?”

“I felt a piercing pain after I stopped, and I’m hurting really bad. Do you see any blood?”

Josh shook his head. “No.” He noticed the cell phone was lying against the transmission hump on Tommy’s side. “Look! There’s the phone. It must have slid out when you slammed on the brakes.”

Tommy had sweat pouring off his face. “You sure you don’t see any blood? I feel something wet.”

“I don’t. Try to kick the phone over here.”

Tommy tried to move his leg. “I can’t. It hurts too bad.”

  “What’s wrong with your leg?”

“Nothing, it just makes my insides hurt when I try to move it.”

Josh thought about his rod that didn’t deploy. “Dude, just do it. Kick it over here so we can get moving before something else happens.”

Tommy moaned as he kicked the phone over the transmission hump. Josh could barely reach it with his fingertips. “Got it!” He looked at Tommy. “Go!”

Tommy took off down the road. He was frightened. “I can feel my heartbeat inside my lower abdomen.” He tried to move his hips. “I can feel something. I’m pretty sure the shaft is in me.” He looked at Josh. “I could be bleeding internally. I need to get to the doctor. Tell him we will do whatever he wants if he will help us.”

Josh noticed the phone was wet. He rubbed the substance between his fingers, then smelled it. “What the fuck.”

Tommy noticed what Josh was doing. “What is it?”

Josh looked confused. “I think it’s piss.”

Horror overcame Tommy. “Oh my God! That’s the wetness that I have been feeling.”

“What do you mean? Did you piss your pants?”

“No. The rod must have pierced my bladder or something.” He was scared. “Call that dude now.”

When Josh called my cell phone I handed it to Jack’s ear. “Hello.”

  “Who is this?”

  Jack remained silent.

  “Hello, anyone there?”

I could hear what Josh was saying from the TV. Jack looked at me, not knowing what to do. I held my thumb to my ear and my pinky to my mouth, making the universal phone sign. “Say something, idiot.”

  “This is Jack.”

“Jack? Is this the same person I was talking to earlier?”

I got an idea. I whispered in Jack’s ear. “Act like me.”

Jack stared at me with a confused look. “Seriously?”

  “Yeah, it’ll be fun.”

“I don’t know what to say?”

I muted the phone. “Listen. If you mess with these assholes real good I will postpone your scheduled surgery for a week or two.” I thought for a moment. “I have one better. “If you can make those punks do something real fucked up I will put if off for several months.”

Mark got excited. “Fuck, I’ll do it.”

I shook my head. “Hush! You’re already a dollar short and a day late.”
r />   “I want off this fuckin’ post.”

“You can wish in one hand, shit in the other, then see which one gets filled first. Now, shut the fuck up!”

I removed one of Jack’s arms from the rack, then handed him the phone. He spoke softly. “You there?”

Josh sounded worried. “What’s going on? I couldn’t hear you. Is this the owner of the car?”

  “I guess so.”

I snapped my fingers to get Jack’s attention. When he looked at me, I ran the back of my thumb across the front of my neck. He knew what that meant. He took a deep breath. “Yes, this is him.”

Jack was looking at me for approval. I shook my head at him, then grabbed my balls and made a tough facial expression, indicating for him to be aggressive. He raised his tone a little. “Yes, this is Jack.”

“Hey, this is Josh. I think we have a bad reception or something. Can you hear me okay?”

  “Yes.”

“We need your help. We’ll do whatever you ask.”

“Hold on, I’m thinking… You say you need my help. I, uh…”

I took the phone from him. “I’ll call your ass back.” I hung up. “What’s fucking wrong with you?”

  Jack looked down. “Sorry.”

I put a Bluetooth headset on Mark since he couldn’t hold the phone. “Your buddy just got moved up the list, so let’s see how you do.”

He had a chicken shit grin. “Call that fucker. I’m gettin’ my ass off this post.”

I sat in my recliner and lit a cigarette. Mark was a complete loud mouth idiot and regardless if he could get the fuckers to do something fucked up, I knew I was going to be entertained with him at the helm.

Mark was getting antsy. “You call that fucker yet? I don’t hear it ringing.”

“Be patient. I’m watching Josh tape his face.” Josh was tearing off small pieces of duct tape and was sticking them across his eye on each side of the flechette.”

“Okay, he’s done. Make the call.”

“Chill out. I’m doing it now.”

Josh was relieved when his phone rang. “Thanks for calling me back. I was starting to worry.”
