“Mum just give us a minute, the spare room is down the hall on the left, I’ll be down in a tic,” he said looking at her.
His Mum just smiled, “Ok dear, and looking well Mia. I can’t wait to get to know my new daughter over the next few weeks.”
I gave her a polite smile as I turned around and went back to cutting up the vegetables for the casserole. Ignoring Noah as he walked closer and wrapped his arms around my waist and tried to kiss my neck.
“Baby I’m sorry, I had no idea she was getting out today. I couldn’t let her stay on her own,” he said quietly.
I sighed, I knew he was right. “I know, but you do realise I only just moved in too. I was looking forward to it being us for a little longer, I just wished you would have called and told me before, instead of turning up and springing it on me like this.”
“I know baby, I’m sorry. I promise she won’t even bother us, I told her not to annoy you or get too personal,” He said, finally kissing my neck as I allowed him to.
I laughed, “Noah we’re all living in a two bedroom apartment, I don’t think it’s going to be easy not to get too personal.”
I turned around as he gave me a warming smile. “I love you so much Mia, thank you for not screaming about this. I didn’t know how you’d take it.”
“Screaming? I wouldn’t tell you she couldn’t stay. I just want you to inform me before things like this happen again,” I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him gently.
As Noah pulled away I jumped, noticing his Mum standing there with a big smile over her face. “Tell me, am I going to be a grandma soon?” she said wiggling her brows.
I felt my cheeks flame up as Noah started to cough loudly, shaking his head. “Ah no, Mum don’t even start on that.”
“Why? I can’t tease my only son about getting his act into gear and getting some of those babies out?” She winked over at me.
I gave a small smile back, “We’re happy with it just being us for a long time, no rush for children yet.”
She gave Noah a chuckle and winked, “If you say so dear, and if you need me to pop out of the house so you can kids can be intimate then just let me know.”
“Oh god Noah make it stop,” I grumbled, hitting my head against his hard chest.
“Mum stop embarrassing Mia, there will be no asking you to leave or even mentioning that word again. You’re too old to talk about intimate things,” I knew Noah was just as nervous as I was right now.
“Very well, you two can pretend I don’t know what you’re up to when that door is closed,” she let out a louder laugh as she left the room.
I looked up after a few moments and raised my brows, “I am not making babies with her here.”
“Making babies?” he laughed. “Oh my funny wife you will just have to keep quiet, or she’ll stand at the door and cheer us on.”
“Noah stop it!” I punched him in the stomach playfully and he faked a groan. I laughed, “I will hurt you one of these days. Just you wait and see Mr Wade.”
“Look forward to that Mia, but you can’t even kill a spider, I doubt you’d be able to hurt me that bad,” he winked, giving me a kiss as he walked back out of the room.
I rolled my eyes, it wasn’t like spiders are cute. They were frightening and creepy crawly scary. Not my fault I let out a loud scream the other night when one was on the wall in the bedroom. Of course Noah thought it was hilarious and chased me around with it until I locked myself in the bathroom until he sent me a photo of it in the bin.
I made my way out to the lounge room where Noah’s Mum sat on the couch flipping through one of her magazines full of celebrity gossip. I sat down and picked up my laptop, I had been checking daily to see if my results were in. Noah had them but decided last minute he couldn’t show me, in case I hated him for giving me bad news.
Dad was working constantly, I tried calling him each evening but he was always at work and couldn’t talk for long. When he was home he was asleep and then he’d be back at work again. I missed him heaps, but I think he was just trying to keep himself busy. Our dinners hadn’t happened yet either, that was a little upsetting.
Noah walked in and sat down, picking up my feet and placing them on his lap. “Got them yet?” he asked.
I shrugged, “I haven’t looked. You could just tell me Noah, I know you want to,” I said, flashing him a sweet smile as I pushed my foot harder into his lap.
He shot me a smirk, shaking his head. “Nope, I don’t know what grade I gave you, I think a C or a C plus.”
“Noah I was the smartest student in your class, I better have gotten at least an A from you or you may be sleeping on the couch,” I laughed.
A voice interrupted our little cheeky argument, “I’m sorry, what? Student of yours? Noah please do not tell me Mia and you had an illegal relationship?” Oh crap, I forgot she didn’t know. I felt my cheeks heating up as I put my head back down. “Mia, Noah? One of you damn well answer me!”
“Mum relax ok. Yes, she was my student and yes we had a relationship while I was still teaching her and no, no one found out about us,” Noah replied bluntly, obvious that he was pissed from her speaking to him that way.
His Mum scoffed, “Oh well that’s just dandy, you two could have been in serious trouble. Mia I thought you would have known better, your father a police officer and all.”
“Mum that’s enough, her Dad knew and everything is fine now, we’re married. What are you going to do? Ground me?” he growled.
His Mum just looked between us, standing up and shaking her head. “I’m going to lay down, I’m rather tired and won’t be joining you for dinner. Thank you for letting me stay in this illegal love nest you obviously had going on here.”
That felt like a slap across the face.
I looked up at her, “Louise, it wasn’t like that.”
“It’s Mrs Wade to you,” She snapped back.
I didn’t want to cry in front of her, I just picked my laptop up and nodded, “Fair enough, since this is now our house you can leave if you don’t like the idea of Noah and I together. It may have been against the law but when two people find the person they’re meant to be with, then nothing can come between those types of love, not even the law and I should know. My Dad wanted to arrest Noah but he didn’t, because he promised my mother that if I ever found someone who I knew was the one then he wouldn’t stop it. So hate me Mrs Wade, I don’t care.”
I walked off and closed our bedroom door. I was shaking, I was so angry, I was really hurt because who was she to judge me. She was the one in rehab for a drinking and drug problem that she couldn’t control.
Noah grew up in a home where he had to fend for himself at the age of ten. I never judged her on a past, she shouldn’t judge us.
I could hear hushed talking and then another door close loudly, soon our door opened and Noah walked in. Giving me a look as he flicked the lock and walked over, sitting down beside me.
“I’m sorry,” he said softly, reaching and taking my hand in his.
I shook my head, “No I’m sorry. I should go and apologise to her.”
“No you won’t. She will apologise to you, or she can find somewhere else to live,” Noah said sternly.
I looked, turning my body to get a better view of him. “Noah, she’s your mother. You can’t kick her out, it’s ok. I can go and stay back at Dad’s if she doesn’t want me around.”
“Stop it Mia, you’re not going anywhere. You’re my wife,” Noah replied, angrily.
I felt horrible. “Noah she’s your mother, you can’t kick her out. Its ok, I get why she is mad, and I can just ignore her. I dealt with James all year, she’s nothing on him.”
Noah chuckled just as my computer dinged with a new email. “You want to check that?”
I looked over, clicking without reading who the sender was. I sucked in a sharp breath as I then let out a massive, excited squeal. “Oh my god! I got all A plus’s!”
“I know, you did well and I am so pr
oud of you Mia,” Noah said. Pushing the laptop away and pulling me up onto his lap. “You did extremely well, I have such a smart little wife.”
I giggled, “Noah stop it. I am not doing that with her here,” I said as I pushed his hands away.
Noah groaned, “but baby, please don’t be mean.”
“Awe I’m sorry,” I laughed kissing his cheek. “We need to celebrate me getting awesome grades and passing!”
He laughed as a knock came to our bedroom door, silencing us both, “How about we all go out for dinner, don’t mind me I couldn’t help overhear, and these walls are very thin. If you want to get a start on those babies before we leave I will put some headphones in and listen to music.”
I covered my mouth, shooting Noah a look as his cheek swelled to a tingle of pink. “Mum god! No! Go away!” he growled.
She chuckled, “No to dinner? Or the headphones? Mia dear, please come help me decide where a nice place to go and eat is?”
“I just made dinner,” I whispered, hoping she didn’t hear.
Noah closed his eyes, pinching the bridge of his nose as he laid back on the bed. “Mum, Mia’s got dinner on.”
“Oh I know, we can eat that tomorrow. Hurry up and finish so we can sort out dinner plans,” she said, I heard some footsteps and soon they faded away.
I giggled as I laid my body down, resting my head against his chest. “Um baby, did you hear her? You better hurry and finish.”
His arms wrapped around me tightly, rolling and pushing me off him as he pinned me down. “Very well Mia, open them up.”
My eyes went wide, “Oh god no, Noah don’t you dare!” I hissed, trying to fight him off me at the same time as I giggled, his other hand tickling me as he slid my skirt up higher.
“Shh baby, let’s see if you can keep quiet,” he said, grabbing my ass and lifting me up, “floor baby, the bed might hit the wall.”
I straddled his waist, leaning forwards as he held my hips. Both of us keeping extremely quiet, until my knees began to get carpet burn and sting as I moved faster. Unable to stop the moans coming from my mouth as I reached peak and came. Noah’s mouth kissing me hard as he rolled us, then getting behind me and digging his fingers into my hips as he thrusted in deep. Screwing me hard until he blew to orgasm also, his grunts and groans weren’t as loud as they normally were, trying to keep quiet in case we were heard.
As he slid out I rolled onto my back, “I love you,” I lazily smiled, running my hand up his thigh.
“You too baby, we should get out there before she picks the lock,” he leant down and laid against my body.
I was just about to talk when another knock came to our door, “I’m thinking we stay in. I don’t want to get weird looks when you’re seen together.”
“Mum!” Noah bellowed, “We will go out and eat. God, give us a few minutes to talk.”
“If that’s what you call it, I will sit on the couch and wait then. Please hurry, I didn’t move in to talk to myself,” She sighed, sounding annoyed again.
I looked at Noah the same time he looked at me, this was going to be a very long few weeks with her here. Especially if she was having these happy, angry mood changes all the time. I just hoped she didn’t have one of them at dinner, especially since this was the first time we were going out in public and basically letting people know we were together and married since school finished.
Chapter Thirty Three
Louise had been staying with us for four weeks by now and I tell you, it was hard at times. I don’t think I had even felt so up and down by someone else’s emotions before. She was happy, sad, angry and then happy again.
I know Noah was getting fed up with it when he brought up that she needed to go home soon. She would bring up that she doesn’t feel ready yet so he’d come back with maybe you need to go back into the clinic. That was what finally pushed her to find a small apartment of her own. In the same complex as us.
I don’t know what is worse, living with her, or having her live three places down from us. I was just glad that Noah and I could get back to being on our own.
“You ready? You might want to bring a jacket, it’s meant to rain today,” Noah said sitting on the couch and pulling on his shoes.
I stood up and nodded. “I am ready, I’ve got one in the car from your last game. Are you right to play today?” I asked looking at him, he hadn’t been sleeping well at all.
“Sure am, I’m looking forward to the game and having my number one fan cheer me on,” Noah winked as he stood, towering over me. He was so tall when we stood like this.
I grinned like an idiot, “Heck yes I will be cheering for you.”
“Good, come on beautiful. Let’s head to the grounds,” he smiled wrapping his arms around my waist and kissed my forehead ever so gently.
I sat in the car, watching as the rain poured down. Louise was beside me, curiously watching as Noah and his team mates ran around chasing the ball.
“I don’t get this game, why play it in the rain?” She asked, turning the radio down.
I shrugged, “I don’t know. I guess it doesn’t bother any of them.”
“How’s your father? I thought he was meant to be joining us today?” She pressed, she loved to ask a lot of questions.
Dad still was working so much, I was beginning to think that he was avoiding me. “He got called out again, he came the other week though. He likes to watch Noah play.”
“You never talk about your Mother, Noah mentioned she passed away. How are you coping?” She turned in her seat, giving me her full attention.
I felt so uncomfortable, I knew she meant no harm but it was still awkward. “I don’t really know what to say, I do talk about her now and then but it’s a little hard to bring up at times.”
“Was you and her close?” she asked, giving me a sad look.
I nodded, “Very close.”
What got our attention was when all the players stopped chasing the ball and ran over to two men throwing punches on the ground, soon it was a full on brawl with eight or more men.
“What did we miss?” I asked, peering out the window trying to see where Noah was.
“Oh dear, this is why I hate this game,” Louise muttered underneath her breath.
I ignored her comment, I had a feeling in the pit of my stomach. That feeling only grew worse when I saw Noah standing up, limping and his arm twisted back as he walked to the edge of the field.
“Oh my god his arm,” I gasped, he had dislocated it.
“We need to go out to him, wait here I’ll go check,” Louise said, I gave her a look. I was his wife, I should be going also. I never said anything, I didn’t want to bring another mood swing on.
When she started walking I shook my head, “I’m not staying here,” I muttered to myself as I started getting out of the car. Running to catch up to her.
She gave me an annoyed look and I knew she was wanting to play favourites with him. Not a word was said from her the entire walk to the stand where Noah was sitting in, a couple men looking over him as he groaned in pain.
I wasn’t going to go in there, but when they helped him stand and then both men stood at the front and then back of him I could have cried, the loud noise that was heard as they popped his shoulder back into place followed by a string of curse words wasn’t pleasant. My heart pounded so bad, I could have burst into tears at seeing him in so much pain.
His mother rushed over, while I stayed behind the fence line. He looked up and gave me a slight painful smile, then noticed his mother and his face changed as he sat back down while they strapped his arm up and placed it in a sling.
“How did it happen?” I asked as Noah walked over to me with his Mum by his side.
He shook his head, “I had the ball, got knocked to the side then dropped it. I fell down but John from the other team tripped and stood on my arm, fucking hurt.”
“Noah language!” His Mum scolded.
He frowned, “I’m 25,” was his sharp reply.
&
nbsp; “Do you need to go get your bag?” I asked, “You want me to get it for you?”
He nodded, “Yeah babe, I won’t be able to carry it. I’ll wait here for you.”
“You should get in the car, Mia can walk around,” Louise snipped.
“No, we can wait for her. It won’t take long, don’t start one of these moods Mum,” Noah muttered quietly.
His Mum didn’t say anything as I went and found his bag in the locker room. Making my way out where Noah stood alone, I could see those girls hovering over him and I rolled my eyes. You would think after hearing Noah was now married they would back off and leave him alone.
I walked over and a couple of the girls looked at me as Noah stepped away, kissing me on the cheek. “About time you came back baby.”
“Oh you don’t like your little fan club?” I asked with a slight giggle.
He chuckled, “No, let’s go home. I need help in the shower.”
Of course he did. I bet he needed help doing most things now his right arm was out of use until it got better. I drove us back, stopping at the chemist to pick up some strong pain meds and a heat pack. I had no idea what to do, his Mum wouldn’t answer me when I asked what I needed and Noah just said ask someone inside. I felt as if I was over stepping, she was definitely back in one of her grumpy moods.
“You should have a bath, I will run it and help you in,” Louise said, barging into our bedroom as she held a couple towels.
“No I will just shower, I won’t be able to get up again if I have a bath and Mia can’t lift me,” Noah yawned, his face still covered in muddy dirt.
A loud sigh escaped her mouth, “Well Noah I am your mother, I can take care of you. I didn’t get to do that a whole lot as you grew up.”
“Mum,” Noah growled. “Don’t bring the past up.”
“How about you just shower, then maybe lay down?” I suggested.
Noah looked at me, then at his Mum. “I’ll be fine, I’m just going to have a rest for a while.”
It was awfully uncomfortable when she slammed our door shut. I just sat there feeling really out of place. Noah shook his head and neither of us spoke for a good ten minutes, making sure she wasn’t listening into our conversation.
