He licked and sucked, biting gently around my eager clit, making my body pulse as every nerve ending reacted to his touch. There was a difference with Declan tonight and I sensed his raw need for this. His arms slid around my thighs as he held me still, assaulting my pussy until I was crying out his name. Declan pulled back and I glanced down to see his hard cock straining against his boxers. I rose, using the adrenaline that was rushing through my bones and pouncing on him. I pushed Declan back to the mattress and tugged the cotton down, baring him to me. I considered my next move and lowered my tongue to lick him up and down the side of his cock slowly, making him arch his back to give me more. “Do you need to come, too?” I asked as he reached for my hair, gripping it in his hand. I took him into my mouth slowly, taking it deep in the back of my throat as my slickness dripped down my thighs.
I sucked him until I couldn’t stand it any longer and crawled over him. Declan moved up to take a hard nipple into his mouth as I impaled myself on him, crying out at the feeling of him filling me. I moved slowly at first as he sucked me into his mouth, dragging his teeth across my skin.
Oh my God. I loved every time I had sex with Declan, but this was amazing. I felt all my inhibitions slipping away as I started to rock against him. Declan kissed me, and I moved harder, feeling his hips rise to meet my thrusts. He spoke dirty things that he wanted to do with me as we fucked, making me wetter with the idea of some of the acts. I came a second before he did, moaning as he jerked hard inside of me and stilled.
I wanted this to be just sex. I did. I knew that at some point, I’d started falling for him and I collapsed against his muscular chest as I took several deep breaths.
What was I going to do?
CHAPTER 20
Declan
I felt her heart beating wildly in her chest as she pressed against me. I was still tingling from the force of my release, still inside of her. I knew that I should pull out, but I loved the feeling. I stroked her damp skin and closed my eyes, breathing the scent of us in.
I pulled out and rolled a sleeping Madeline to her side, smiling down at her peaceful face. I went to get some water, deciding on beer at the last minute as I downed one in a few sips. I took the water upstairs, pausing at the photos on the mantel. I looked them over slowly, debating if I should take them down before my parents got here. That life was over. I glanced towards the stairs, thinking about the woman in my bed. I knew that I wasn’t ready to replace these photos with pictures of Madeline and me, but she felt good when I was inside of her.
She understood what I needed tonight and went right along with it. I’d always enjoyed sex after a hard day at the hospital, but Lisa was often wrapped up in work. I’d jerk off most nights before going to sleep but Madeline knew what I wanted and needed right away. She gave it to me and I knew that she would do anything that I wanted tonight.
I wondered where this was going as I made my way upstairs again. I contemplated where I wanted it to go as I walked into the bedroom to see Madeline on her back, baring her sexy body to me. My cock hardened as I reached down to stroke it, moving faster towards her. I needed her again.
Madeline fell asleep again pressed against me as she smiled. We’d had another go around for about an hour and I made her come in a few different ways this time. She was so willing as I stroked her clit or bent her over and took her from behind. I closed my eyes this time, thankful that we both had the following day off. I never wanted to get out of this bed.
The weeks kept going up until the holiday and I seemed to spend more time with Madeline. It was always behind closed doors and mostly in bed with the weather making long drives dangerous. We just stayed warm inside and fucked regularly. She was losing some of her shyness and getting herself off for me as well as letting me use any toy on her that I wanted. My favorite was the butt plug, at least until I was in there myself.
I never came so hard as I did that day.
I knew that I was growing closer to her, but I pushed the idea away. We’d get a break through both holidays and I could make some sense of this then.
We played it off at the hospital like we were merely acquaintances. Madeline was scared to be part of the gossip and I knew that there was already talk about me since everything with Lisa happened. I just wanted to keep my private life that way; private. I even kept her out of conversations with my parents. I knew that they’d likely support me moving on but having a fuck buddy might not be Mom’s choice term to describe what I was doing. She didn’t need to know anything yet and before I knew it, Madeline was headed home, and I was on my own until my parents arrived.
I worked a few shifts until my vacation began, heading to the airport to pick them up. Mom hugged me tightly and Dad shook my hand as he looked me over. “You’re putting in long hours at the hospital.”
I was also putting long hours into sex with Madeline, but I wouldn’t admit to that. “Yeah, I am. That’s what I do, Dad.” He clapped me on the back as we walked to get their luggage and head back to the house.
“You need to take care of yourself, Declan. Especially right now… you need to sleep and heal.” Mom fussed over their luggage and Dad smiled lovingly at her before he reached for the green bags I’d bought them last year for Christmas. Prior to that, they had been using the same mismatched bags for fifteen years. I reached for her small carry-on bag and heaved it over my shoulder before leading the way to the car.
“Are you hungry?” I asked as I unlocked the doors to load the luggage in the back. “I have the house stocked with your favorites and there’s some good places on the way there. Anything you guys want.” I loved my parents dearly and Mom gave another tight hug.
“I’d love to go to that Thai place you took us to. The tea was delicious,” Mom mused as she pulled away to look closely at me. “Are you sure? You look tired.”
“I’m fine. I have a week off to relax after this.” I assured her as she walked around to the front while Dad opened the door for her. Once she was settled in, he buckled himself into the back seat as I started the engine.
We got to the restaurant and I got us a table, leading the way after the waitress that reminded me of Madeline. She had the same sweet look about her, but my body did not respond the same way it does for Madeline. I let my mom slide into the booth first and my Dad and I took our places. We ordered two pots of the tea and Mom looked over the menu with an easy smile. We ordered a mountain of food, so she could try some new stuff and she looked at me before blowing on her cup of tea. “So, how has work been?”
“I’m getting back into the groove. It’s been great staying busy,” I told her honestly, thinking about Madeline again. She was off for the entire week as well, so we’d likely see each other at the hospital once that was over.
Why didn’t I like that idea?
We chatted about the meal preparation for Thanksgiving as we ate, making me realize I still needed to his the store. Mom acted like she was cooking for a large family the way that she went on. I gave Dad a long look as he smiled at me, reaching for my tea. I’d need a beer at home at this point. We ate until we were stuffed, and I asked for boxes for the rest of the food. The waitress gave me a long look as I handed her a credit card, not meeting her eyes.
When we were in the car, Mom looked at me. “She was interested in you, Declan. Have you considered dating again?” Her tone was gentle, and I stared forward for a moment. “It’s been some time.”
“I am just easing into work. I think I’ll take that slow.” I pulled onto the main street and headed towards the house as Dad asked me another question about the hockey team. He always wanted to go to a game and I decided to try to work on that for him. We pulled into the driveway and Dad and I took their luggage to the guest room on the first floor. I went back to the car to get the leftover food and get it into the fridge while Dad went about making a fire. I closed the fridge and the room was dim again as I sighed.
I joined them in the living room, finding a movie on the TV as Dad pulled Mom against him.
We chatted about things like the weather and what to do while they were in town. Everyone was tired relatively early, and I told them to sleep in as long as they needed to the following day. I knew that meant they might sleep until seven instead of five, but it was worth a try. I secured the house and headed upstairs, catching Madeline’s scent as I walked into my bedroom. I stopped and inhaled deeper, missing her tonight. I decided to shower before bed, jerking myself off under the hot spray as I played back the rough sex we’d been having. I closed my eyes and pictured her face as she came, tightening my hold and stroking harder. I knew that my parents would gladly send me out to go on a date, but I didn’t want a date.
I didn’t want a relationship at all. I didn’t want to date. I was passing time with Madeline until I moved onto something else. That’s what I was supposed to do as a widower, wasn’t it?
I played her moan through my mind and jerked forward, spraying the tile with my release. I breathed in hard, feeling the jolts all the way through my body. Dropping back against the shower wall, I regained my composure until I could finish washing off. I dried off and dressed in sweats to sleep, so I could get up quickly and pull on a shirt. Mom would want to spend as much time with me as she could this trip.
CHAPTER 21
Madeline
It was great seeing my mom and aunt again. I walked from the gate and joined the crowd in walking towards waiting loved ones, feeling a bit down. It seemed like time flew by before I was leaving for this visit and Declan’s parents were arriving for theirs. We were having a lot of sex, but beyond that it felt like he might be pulling away from me. Maybe I was overthinking it.
I smiled as I looked ahead and saw the two people that I loved the most staring towards me. I let the crowd disperse into different directions as Mom hurried forward to wrap me in a hug. It felt so good and I realized how much I missed her. I moved to my aunt and gave her a big hug before they got on either side of me and took my arms.
“So, how is it at the hospital?” Mom asked as we walked to get my bag.
“Busy. There’s been some crazy nights there. I’m shocked they gave me this time off at all.” I smiled as I looked ahead to see my bright blue suitcase mixed among the plain ones. Mom gave it to me when I moved, making me promise to visit her as much as I could. We grabbed it and walked out to the SUV that Mom got right after I left, and I gazed at the ten-year-old car with a laugh. “Mom. You’re a nurse and this is your car?”
“We have an apartment in Brooklyn. That doesn’t come cheap. I imagine you pay a lot as well,” Mom told me as she opened the door with a key. I slipped into the back seat once my bag was inside, brushing off their insistence that I sit up front. Shelly asked if I wanted to get pizza, knowing how much I loved it in New York. I agreed, since Chicago didn’t quite cut it for me. We went to a small place near their artist loft and gathered around the table as they ordered a pitcher of beer. I asked for a soda, not ready to drink yet. We asked for an extra-large veggie pizza and Mom looked closely at me. “So, how are you?”
“I’m good, Mom.” She narrowed her pretty eyes at me and reached out to tuck my hair behind my ear.
“You look different. Are you seeing someone now?” Mom asked as I blushed, making her smile. “I knew it.”
“I’m seeing a doctor. It isn’t serious, Mom.” I tried to smile but she looked closer at me.
“Isn’t it?” She asked as Shelly took a good look at me.
“Oh my God. Mom, just stop this,” I told her as I reached for my soda, reconsidering the choice not to drink the beer. I took a long sip and tried to force the heat washing over my skin away.
“Hmmm. We’ll talk later after some wine,” Mom assured me as I sighed heavily. We moved onto talking about the city and everything that was going on there, making me miss it. Mom packed the remaining slices of pizza into a box and I drove us to the loft, since Mom and Shelly drank a lot of beer. We parked on the street and I looked up and down, taking in the creative vibe as we got out to get my bag. Once they unlocked the door, I looked around the new apartment. It wasn’t huge, but it had space for the both with corners of the room sectioned off to make bedrooms with the center space for working on their art.
“I love it,” I told them as I looked around. I didn’t know where I was going to sleep, but I assumed with Mom. She loved talking late into the night and I asked her which room was here. When she pointed to the one furthest away, I carried my bag over there. I wondered how they kept their lives private here, knowing that I could never live with anyone and be sleeping with Declan.
Declan.
I wanted to show him Brooklyn. I wanted to take him for coffee and food and just wander around. I closed my eyes for a moment before walking over to the window to look over the lights of the city. It was beautiful, but I missed him. “Want some wine?” Shelly asked as I turned and nodded. I walked over to the kitchen where wine was poured into big glasses and we walked over to the couch and snuggled together, turning on a movie.
We chatted about my childhood and the memories that I cherished. I drank another glass of wine and we ate more pizza before Shelly told us that she must get to bed. She went to rinse her glass and I smiled at Mom as I hugged her again. “You look a little happier now. Want to talk?”
We rinsed our glasses and went to the other corner to climb into Mom’s big bed. I was wearing a big shirt and some old leggings and snuggled under the blanket as I smiled. “So, you remember the doctor that I mentioned?”
“I do,” Mom replied as I took a deep breath. She waited in silence as I considered what to say to her.
“It’s gotten… something. We’ve seen each other a lot and I’m sleeping with him, Mom.” I felt her pull me against her as she sighed.
“Was that the right choice for you?” Her voice was soft, and I raised my eyebrows thoughtfully.
“I think so. It’s complicated, Mom. He’s a widower. He lost his wife to cancer a few months ago and we got to talking. Then we were fooling around, and I slept with him. It’s exciting, Mom. It’s better than I ever expected but I don’t think that it’s forever. “I felt adrenaline rush through me as I looked at her.
“It isn’t always meant to be. How is he since he lost his wife?” Mom asked as I considered my answer.
“From what he’s told me, they were both busy with work. They didn’t spend a lot of time together. I know that he loved her and clearly misses her, but I don’t think that he was happy.” I spoke slowly, playing back the time that we’d spent together. I remembered bits and pieces of what he told me. “He took me to this diner out of the city. He’s a doctor and rich… you should see his house. He took me to this tiny where this waitress knew him. It surprised me because he said she’d never go with him.” I felt her stroke my hair and smiled.
“That sounds like he’s opening up to you a bit,” Mom told me as I shrugged.
“I don’t know.” I closed my eyes and settled into the pile of pillows that she loved. I was tired now and missing being in Declan’s arms. Mom told me to get some sleep and I nodded as I snuggled deeper under the blankets. I dreamed about Declan as I slept, feeling him inside of me from every angle before I opened my eyes to see the dim light of dawn through the windows. I breathed in slowly and closed my eyes to go back to sleep.
I woke up several times, deciding to make some coffee and take in the morning light. I grabbed my phone from my purse and charged it in the kitchen as I quietly fixed my cup of coffee with the new single cup maker that Mom had. It was a little noisy, but I managed to not wake anyone up before I walked over to the couch. I curled up and looked at my phone across the room, aware of the fact that he hadn’t tried to contact me.
Was he thinking about me?
CHAPTER 22
Declan
I could tell that Mom was worried about me throughout the visit. She fussed over the meals and even asked me if I was feeling well a few times. I was surprised that she didn’t feel my forehead the way she had when I was a child. When I expla
ined that I worked at a hospital and could cure most viruses, she argued that it was the exact reason that I might get sick.
It was irritating but I was glad to have them there. I insisted on taking them out to eat twice so Mom could have a break, and since I remembered the places that they both liked. It was nice to get some fresh air as well. I didn’t say a thing about Madeline and was nearly caught when I found one of her bras in my laundry. I managed to tuck it away, but I noticed that Mom was a little too curious when we saw a group of colleagues at lunch. I did the polite thing and introduced them, and Mom was asking me about one of the nurses. “Mom, that woman has made her way through a series of doctors. I don’t think you want me with a woman like that,” I told her in a hushed voice as Dad cracked a smile.
