The Omega's Physician (Bundle of Joy Series Book 1) Page 18

by Kenna Grace

The words rang in my head and turned my body into jello. The words coming out of his mouth felt like I was being wrapped in a warm silk blanket. His confession of love had me floating with ecstasy. The moment couldn’t have been more perfect. Or so I thought. He leaned his head down to meet me halfway and pressed our lips together in a kiss that rocked my world and made me feel light headed.

When he pulled away, he held out Xander and passed him to me. I took him in my arms and held him close to my chest. His small hands reached up and explored my face. I took a few steps past Donovan and looked around. The place was styled with an open concept look that transitioned each room effortlessly into the next.

I heard Donovan take a step towards me, though he was still standing behind me. He leaned down and gave the back of my neck a kiss, sending a tingle down my spine. Then, he purred into my ear. “Look in Xander’s pocket.”

Still lost in the beauty of our new home and high on the feeling of our confession of love to one another, I reached inside the pocket of his blue overalls, only half aware of what I was doing. I was caught by surprise when my hand was greeted by the feeling of a small felt box shaped item. I pulled it out, in shock at what I saw. It was closed, but I knew that inside it was a ring. I turned around to face Donovan and when I did, he was already down on one knee.

“Lachlan, will you marry me?” He reached over and took the box from my hand, opening it to display a gold band with a large diamond centered between an arrangement of smaller ones.

My heart was pounding hard against my chest. I opened my mouth, but nothing came out. Instead, I nodded and wiped away the tears that I felt now streaming down my face with the back of my hand. I opened my mouth again and spoke. “Yes.”

Donovan stood back up and pulled the ring out of the box and slid it onto my finger. I held my hand up to my face and looked down at the sparkling jewel. Donovan reached over and took my hand again and pulled me back into his chest.

He wrapped his arm around and leaned back in for another kiss. As our lips tasted each other’s, a tiny hand reached up and pressed against our faces. We pulled away from our kiss and looked down to see Xander looking up towards us, a toothless smile sprawled across his face.

Everything that had happened between Donovan and me wasn’t how I imagined it would be when I met my soul mate. At times it seemed perfect, other times rough. For a time, I thought it was even just a mistake. But now, Xander, our child in my arms, and Donovan, the man I loved since I first laid eyes on him, with his arms wrapped around me, I couldn’t imagine it being anymore perfect.

It wasn’t how I imagined it happening, but somehow that made it feel all the more real. And now, with the two men I loved more than I could have imagined possible, I knew that I had found my fairytale ending.
