  A Note from the Author

I have made every effort to ensure historical authenticity within the context of a piece of fiction. Regarding spelling, please note I have followed the convention of using English, as opposed to US, spellings. This means, in practice, the use of ‘s’ rather than a ‘z’, for example in words such as ‘realised’.

For further reading on I would recommend the following sources, of which I made extensive use: The Tank War, Mark Urban; Forgotten Voices Desert Victory, Julian Thompson; SS Panzer SS Inferno - Eyewitness Panzer Crews - Normandy to Berlin; The Desert Rats, Robin Neillands, The Desert Rats, Major-General GL Verney, The Desert War, Alan Moorehead, Brazen Warriors, Major Robert Crisp, C.E. Lucas-Phillips, El Alamein.

YouTube is, of course, a treasure trove of documentaries covering this period.

Other internet sources have wonderful anecdotal and factual information. These include: BB2 People’s War - https://www.bbc.co.uk/history/ww2peopleswar; www. Rommelsriposte.com; https://forum.axishistory.com; http://www.warlinks.com/armour/6th_royal_tank; http://www.desertrats.org.uk/battles1941.htm
