“I second that,” Hamachi squeezed her hand.
Two Weeks Later
The darkness had stayed away, which they hoped would always happen, but feared they might have to battle it again one day. They knew that if there was light, there was sure to be darkness to combat it. They had lost several shifters the day of the great battle, but only a few compared to the number of hunters who were killed.
Hamachi and Odessa became who the people went to for help, along with The Council. The people felt like they had taken the place of Hunundi, since he himself had gifted his magic to Hamachi, and especially since his and Odessa’s magic together was some of the strongest they had ever seen. There had not been deep magic in a couple so close since Odilia and Oleander had lived, and for that, Hamachi and Odessa knew their love would last.
The Council, with the help of Hamachi and Odessa, had decided to put the shield back up just in case, and planned to relocate the camp. The relocation took only a few hours, because it was done using magic. They found a piece of land in the middle of the desert, somewhere in Nevada, that humans nor hunters never saw. The climate was made comfortable for the people through magic, and much like before, it was wooded and warm. Odessa had made sure to move her and Hamachi’s stump as well. The refuge and all surrounding parts of the camp were moved too, including the wolves and puppies.
They knew there had to be more hunters out there who pledged their allegiance to the darkness, but if they should come looking for Camp Sacred Moon, they would be ready and waiting. The dark, oily feeling was still there from time to time when they were away from the protection of the shield, but never like it had been.
Odessa and Hamachi didn’t need to work with the wolves any longer, because they were busy doing the things Hunundi did, but they still made as much time for them as they could. Pypachi was always by their side and grew larger every day.
Their people were happy and healthy, which made things go smoothly. While they each one mourned Hunundi, they could still feel his spirit, and loved having the couple to help them when needed.
The two of them were happier than they had ever been, with the family they had never known could be theirs. Odessa and Hamachi went through the marriage ceremony, sad Hunundi was not the one who performed it, but happy they were finally legally married in the eyes of their people. Shifters everywhere cheered as they kissed at the close of the ceremony. Odessa loved the fact that she was finally on her epic adventure and hoped it would never end.
