Garry Thomas Morse is the author of four poetry titles and four fiction titles, notably Governor General’s Award poetry finalist Discovery Passages about his ancestral Kwakwaka’wakw First Nations myth, history, and the fallout of the potlatch ban, and also his outlandish speculative fiction series The Chaos! Quincunx.
Susan Musgrave’s most recent book of poetry is Origami Dove. She wrote the lyrics to “Missing,” for sixty-two women on Vancouver’s downtown eastside. Music by Brad Prevadoras, vocals by Amber Smith. The proceeds from sales go to Haven Society, which provides a transition house for women and children who have suffered abuse.
David O’Meara is an editor and author of four collections of poetry and a play, Disaster. His most recent book is A Pretty Sight, winner of the Archibald Lampman Prize and the Ottawa Book Award.
Michael Ondaatje is the author of several books including In the Skin of a Lion, The English Patient, The Cat’s Table, Running in the Family, and several books of poetry including Handwriting. He lives in Toronto.
Andrew Pyper is the author of six novels, most recently The Demonologist, which won the International Thriller Writers Award. Previous novels include Lost Girls (a New York Times Notable Book) and The Guardians (a Globe and Mail Best Book). His new novel, The Damned, will be published in February 2015.
Eliza Robertson was born in Vancouver and grew up on Vancouver Island. In 2013, she won the Commonwealth Short Story Prize. Her first collection of stories, Wallflowers, was published in Canada, the U.S., and the U.K. in 2014.
John Ralston Saul has published fourteen works, which have been translated into twenty-five languages, the most recent of which are A Fair Country and The Comeback.
Originally from Grand Rapids, Manitoba, Lynnel Sinclair is a Cree/Métis writer. She now lives and works in Winnipeg, where she is a member of the Indigenous Writers of Winnipeg. Her publications include The Indigenous Writers Collective Presents New Voices.
Mary Swan writes novels and short stories and is the author of The Deep, Emma’s Hands, The Boys in the Trees, and My Ghosts. Her work has appeared in Canadian and U.S. literary magazines and anthologies, and she has won the O. Henry Award and been shortlisted for the Giller Prize and the Amazon First Novel Award. She lives with her family in Guelph.
Drew Hayden Taylor is an award winning Anishnawbe (Ojibway) playwright, novelist, scriptwriter, and essayist. He was born and is currently living on the Curve Lake First Nation in central Ontario.
Madeleine Thien is the author of three works of fiction, including her most recent novel, Dogs at the Perimeter.
Lola Tostevin is a Toronto writer who has published seven collections of poetry, three novels, and a collection of essays. She is presently putting the finishing touches on a second book of essays.
Priscila Uppal is a poet, prose writer, playwright, and York University professor. Publications include Ontological Necessities; novels The Divine Economy of Salvation and To Whom It May Concern; and memoir Projection: Encounters with My Runaway Mother.
John Vaillant’s work has appeared in The New Yorker, The Atlantic, National Geographic, and The Walrus, among others. He is the author of two works of award-winning nonfiction, The Golden Spruce and The Tiger, and a novel, The Jaguar’s Children. In 2014 he was a recipient of the Windham Campbell Prize for Nonfiction.
Richard Van Camp is a proud member of the Dogrib (Tlicho) Nation from Fort Smith, Northwest Territories. He is the author of two children’s books with the Cree artist George Littlechild and has published a novel, The Lesser Blessed, which is now a feature film with First Generation Films; his collections of short stories include Angel Wing Splash Pattern, The Moon of Letting Go and Other Stories, and Godless but Loyal to Heaven. “Because of What I Did” is from his forthcoming collection, Night Moves, in the fall of 2015.
Katherena Vermette is a Métis writer of poetry, fiction, and children’s literature. Her first book, North End Love Songs, won the 2013 Governor General’s Literary Award for Poetry. Her poetry and fiction have appeared in several literary magazines and anthologies, including Manitowapow: Aboriginal Writings from the Land of Water. She holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of British Columbia and lives in Winnipeg.
Betsy Warland’s most recent book is Breathing the Page: Reading the Act of Writing. Her work in progress, Oscar of Between, investigates the impact of WWI’s invention of camouflage on civilian life. She hosts a monthly online salon featuring excerpts from this manuscript alongside guest writers and artists’ work and readers’ comments on her website.
Michael Winter is the author of eight books. He lives in Toronto.
Patricia Young has published eleven collections of poetry for which she has received numerous awards, including the Dorothy Livesay Award, the Pat Lowther Award, and a CBC Literary Award. She has twice been shortlisted for the Governor General’s Award for Poetry. She lives in Victoria.
