Fateful Italian Passion Page 35

by Olga GOA

“You are the most divine creature I have ever met in my life,” Timothy went on, enjoying the beauty of the one he loves so much. “How can I refuse you, Veronica? Please, tell me. The thought of not seeing you again and knowing you’ll marry someone else makes me die every minute... I can’t believe you won’t be mine... It is a nightmare from which I can’t wake up... A horrible nightmare...” Timothy was opening his tortured heart to Veronica, suffering from the wounds of love. Was this love always like this, or did he just want to get what he wasn’t able to? Was it his ego or his true strong feelings?

“What’s the reason for your confession, Tim? Please, this is unnecessary—” Veronica muttered in a sad tone, but Timothy didn’t let her finish. He wanted her to listen to him, not the other way around.

“Just know that I love you without hope, Veronica...” Timothy explained his thoughts with the bitter taste of defeat in the struggle for the heart of Veronica.

“Tim,” Veronica mumbled, trying to step away.

“My love... Please…” Timothy uttered sweetly, intending to tell Veronica his ‘goodbye.’ However, something clicked inside of him, and he changed his mind. Timothy couldn’t just walk away without showing Veronica the power of his love.

As Veronica decided to turn around, Timothy headlong cupped her face and kissed her lips forcefully with gloomy hopelessness. His mouth caught hers while he was in a desperate and hopeless state. He couldn’t believe that he’d never seen this beautiful girl, and she would be lost to him forever!

Veronica was so shocked by his action, so she struck Timothy hard in the chest to keep him away. Veronica couldn’t believe for what goodness Timothy ‘paid’ her in this way. She treated him like a brother, and he just…

Catching his side vision, Timothy realized that someone was watching them. He blamed himself for his reckless act because he created an unpleasant situation for Veronica.

Turning his head in the direction of the observer, as expected, Timothy saw his opponent and rival Milano Veneziani.

Cannons of hatred shot in Milano’s eyes, his clenched fists symbolized the fists of the demon that played on Milano’s emotions. That demon provided the full disharmony in Milano’s mind and was satisfied with that. Perhaps for Veronica and Timothy Milano looked ominous―he was losing control, and no one could predict what would happen next. He was very sinister.

Veronica had time to blink at once as a quick Milano’s blow fell directly into Timothy’s lower jaw. Milano hurt Timothy’s lower lip without regret and a thin stream of the blood had trickled off Timothy’s lower lip.

Veronica had no doubt that Milano wouldn’t cease the fight, and she was right—Milano kicked Timothy right in the stomach. Losing his balance, Timothy fell, landing on the asphalt.

“What is it?” Milano did not scream, but fiercely snarled at Veronica like a demon. “Are you trying to make me look like an idiot?!”

“Milano, this is not what you imagine...” Veronica answered his questioning calmly, attempting by all truths to prove to him that it was just a misunderstanding. “I didn’t mean to...”

“Very like a whale! Are you so dumb not to understand what he wanted from you? You are talking nonsense, Veronica! I wasn’t born yesterday!” Milano yelled, squeezing Veronica’s forearm painfully.

Even Veronica’s stroking and requests to believe her did not affect Milano. It looked like Veronica destroyed his whole light kingdom, and a ruthless demon came out now on the surface of his dark empire.

“Let go of Veronica’s hand, you asshole! If you love her, you won’t hurt her, Milano!” Timothy rapped, getting up from the ground. He took out a handkerchief in the side pocket of his trousers and wiped the blood from his split lip.

“Well...” Milano stretched the word in speaking for a minute, having the intention to beat Timothy in full. “If you do not shut up right now, Timothy, you’ll be getting both barrels!”

“You’re just an eerie monster!” Timothy shouted at Milano, standing in front of Veronica as protection from her Italian. “Veronica will never marry you!”

Seeing as Milano’s eyes darkened, Veronica realized that she wouldn’t be able to affect neither him nor exploded Timothy. No matter what she did, the demon has woken up in her beloved man. That demon will not be silent at this time―he will definitely show her his ugly insides.

“Bene... bene...” Milano spoke, devilishly grinning at Timothy. He reached Timothy in a second and with all his power kicked him in the chest. Timothy fell, knocked out, unable to resist the Italian.

“Why did you beat Timothy so mercilessly? What is wrong with you, Milano?” Veronica begged him to stop, trying to reason with her Demon. However, Milano’s bipolar part conquered him, and he was deaf to her words.

“Oh, I beg your pardon, Signorina! I just made your secret lover’s face more beautiful...” Milano sarcastically remarked, not taking his eyes from Veronica. “Maybe my mom was right when she said you were with me just for money.” Milano’s smile wilted. His tightly compressed lips told Veronica―he doubted her innocence, and she couldn’t do anything about it.

Veronica’s reaction expressed as complete amazement due to Milano’s accusation. Was that her beloved man? The one who recently praised her qualities but at this moment affronted her?

Why is he doing this to me? Veronica asked herself; her soul sang sorrowful music. Milano didn’t believe her, and this fact was destroying her minute by minute.

Milano stretched his hand out as if he required something from Veronica. And Veronica realized what that was when she followed his glance. His eyes locked on her engagement ring.

“Return your ring to me, let’s finish this farce!” Milano snapped, demanding his gift back from her with a hand gesture. “And I believed you! What a fool I’ve been!”

“So that’s what you want?” The pride sounded in Veronica’s mind, and she did not want to explain anything to Milano. Now she wanted nothing to do with him. If Milano behaved like that, Veronica decided he wasn’t worthy of her love.

Veronica took off the ring with detestation in her movements and threw it right in her Demon’s face. Milano wasn’t able to catch it and the ring dropped on the ground.

“As a Neanderthal girl you were, so you remained,” Milano retorted, picking up the ring from the ground and putting it in his pocket. “Moreover, you were so perfect in bed, Veronica. Really. Unfortunately, only in bed…”

“Such a scoundrel you are!” Veronica shouted at him; her loud slap sounded when it landed on Milano’s unshaved cheek. Strangely, Milano didn’t seem to react. He just waited for her to go. “I believed in you, but you destroyed me, Milano. You stomped on my heart as hard as you could. I’m going to Aunt Carmela and do not search for me ever. I’ll take care of our baby myself if you are not able to!”

Her lips trembled, tears dripping from her eyelashes. Veronica was crushed. The baby must have felt her pain for it kicked her stomach, as if to let her know that it was there for her and wished for her to calm down.

Veronica went away from Milano, covering her face with her hands. She sobbed as if everything that accumulated in her soul during these months with Milano had poured into a dirty geyser that purified her soul. She sensed as she returned to her state of pure angel.

She took a few more steps when her head suddenly spun around, and she froze. She closed her eyes and began to fall into the deep darkness similar to oblivion. In a half-unconscious state, she felt Milano’s hands carefully supported her and kept her near themselves from the harsh falling.

But her subconsciousness didn’t care. Veronica wasn’t able to hear; she only fell deeper and deeper into the abyss, despite what words Milano whispered to her.

She was running from the demonic world, where Milano liked to take her, not even defending…

A demonic world ruled by coldness and indifference.

A demonic world where an angel has no place…
