  Lawrynn:

Trevor makes me sick to my stomach.

He thinks that women are supposed to grovel at his feet, but not me, Lawrynn Barksdale, Esq.

Sure, we may have gotten drunk and had a one-night stand after my best friend’s reception, but that was a first and last time thing.

However, I do have eyes for his cousin, and surely, he can take my mind off the arrogant billionaire.

  Trevor:

Lawrynn wasn’t my type at all, which is why I needed alcohol to sleep with her the first time.

After that slip-up, I had to find someone to settle down with quick, and my old fling, Jasmine Lovelace, would have to do.

I know Lawrynn is trying to make me jealous by getting with my cousin, but that’s only going to last for so long.

  Again, I am NOT jealous.

The sun shining through my closed eyelids and the cool breeze on my skin was what made my eyes flicker open slowly. The moment my eyes were fully open, I immediately closed them back because of the thumping that my brain started doing. Using my thumb and middle finger on my right hand, I applied pressure to my throbbing temples. Last night had to have been crazy, but I couldn’t remember what happened. All I could clearly remember was catching the bouquet at my best friend’s wedding. After that, everything was a complete blur. I turned away from the sun, so I could slowly open my eyes again.

Opening my eyes slowly, I glanced at the clock on the nightstand and the time read 10:00 in the morning. I blinked my eyes again and saw my bouquet, and then I saw the garter that Spence tossed. Couldn’t even believe that Trevor’s punk ass was the one that caught it.

Why is that here? I thought to myself.

Under the garter was the bowtie that Spence and all his groomsmen wore at the wedding. I closed my eyes and tried to remember what happened, but I got nothing. Not worrying about it anymore, I turned over and saw Trevor laying on his back with his bottom lip slightly tucked into his mouth. Coming to my senses, I looked down at my naked body, and let out a gasp!

  Ahhh!” I screamed.

Latching onto the sheet, I scooted back until I fell out of the bed with a huge thump. I pulled the sheet up to my chin, covering my body. Trevor jumped up ready to fight, but then looked at me, and his mouth fell open. He looked down at his naked body and then grabbed the comforter to cover himself up.

“WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY ROOM?” we both shouted at the same time.

“THIS IS MY ROOM!” we both shouted again.

“NO, IT’S NOT!” we shouted again in unison.

  “UUGGHHH!” I growled.

We both stood up at the same time, covered in bedspreads, and raced towards the door. We were both in a hurry to prove a point to each other. He yanked the door open and ran his hand under the number nine.

“See! My room!” he hissed. “Get out!”

With the sheet to his bed wrapped around my body, I stomped out of his room. I couldn’t push the elevator button fast enough. Him slamming the door made me jump a little. The elevator door came open, and I pushed the button to the top floor with the quickness. My heart was beating faster than normal because I couldn’t believe that I didn’t remember anything about last night. I closed my eyes and tried to remember something… anything. I got nothing.

“Come on, LB! You can remember something,” I coached myself while giving myself light smacks to my jaw.

  Ding!

Once the elevator opened, I rushed off and down the hallway like a mad woman. I approached the huge double doors and started beating like a mad woman.

  Boom! Boom! Boom!

“Kriss, open up!” I yelled on the outside of the door.

  Boom! Boom! Boom!

  “Kriss, it’s me, Lawrynn. Ple—”

The doors swung open, and Spence was standing there in a Versace robe with a look of concern on his face. His face was also sweaty, so I knew I had interrupted a round of morning sex.

  “Ms. Barksdale is everything oka—”

Not letting him finish his sentence, I rushed past him and into the suite hollering Kriss’s name.

  “KRISS! KRISS!”

“Here I—goodness, Lawrynn, where are your clothes? What is wrong? What happened?” she questioned with a very concerned and scared look on her face.

“Something happened, but I can’t remember. All I remember is waking up—” I started, but I heard Spence on the phone.

“Security, I need all the tapes to this hotel this instant,” Spence growled into the phone while approaching me. “Are you hurt? I’ll call my doctor.” Spence went into protective mode while touching my face, I guess looking for bruises.

  “No… it wasn’t like—”

Before I could finish my sentence, Trevor came barreling through the doors half dressed. He glared at me with a look of disgust.

“YOU!” we both yelled in unison.

“Guys…” Spence said, and held his hands out like he was going to stop us if we tried to fight each other.

“This… this… this girl came into my goddamn room and—”

“Excuse me, this girl,” I hissed while rolling my neck.

“Yes! I don’t know how you found your little self into my room last night, but you need to tell me what you gave me. I don’t remember shit from last night. You’re going to tell me what you gave me or I’m gonna make you
tell me,” Trevor spoke so fast.

“EXCUSE ME! It was you”—I pointed at him— “who drugged me.” I pointed to myself. “I don’t remember anything from last night. I woke up next to this gorilla looking—”

Chuckling, he said, “Gorilla looking? Please, you have some nerve talking about someone’s looks.”

“TREVOR! You need to walk over there and calm down,” Spence said while pointing at the kitchen area. “Kriss, take Lawrynn out on the balcony.” I didn’t need to go out to the balcony, so I stood still.

Fifteen minutes later the doors busted open again. “Mr. Spencer, we have the recordings that you were requesting. Is everything okay?” A guy with a hotel uniform on rushed into the wide-open doors with a USB in his hand, with two uniformed officers and Rick, Spence’s driver, behind him.

If I was a lighter shade, my face would be tomato red. I was standing here in a sheet, and now everyone was about to know my business.

“Everything is just fine, just give—” Spence started.

“No, it’s not. I want that one over there in the sheet arrested. She gave me—” Trevor started.

  “Trevor, please,” Kriss sighed.

The police stood confused because they didn’t know what to do. As if things couldn’t get any more embarrassing, Trevor and Spence’s parents appeared at the door.

“Trevor, Spence, what is going on?” his mom asked in such a sweet tone, but we all knew that she was the devil in disguise.

“Nothing, Mom and Dad. Can everyone leave, please?” Spence walked over to the door and said.

Everyone started out of the room. He took the drive from the young man before he left the room. Trevor and I were also on the way out the door, but he placed his arm in front of us.

“No, no, no, not you two. You interrupted me putting another baby into my wife, so we are going to get to the bottom of this,” Spence said and shut the door.

“This is crazy,” I muttered under my breath.

We all walked over to the iMac that was in the room. Spence sat down and placed the drive into the computer. He pulled up what was on the drive while me, Kriss, and Trevor waited behind him impatiently. So many camera angles were set up, and it was hard to keep my eyes on all of them. I finally spotted myself at the bar taking down two shots. You couldn’t blame that on me; Kriss and Spence shouldn’t have had an open bar at their wedding. The wedding came flooding back to my mind.

Yesterday, my best friend since our freshman year of college married Travis Spencer the third, the freaking billionaire. Yes, my best friend snagged a billionaire. I was so happy for her. She was convinced that she wouldn’t find love anymore after she had a very bad breakup with her first love. Their love happened so fast and naturally. When she announced that she was pregnant, I was even happier. She looked so cute pregnant, although she was miserable because she hated being surrounded by security day in and day out. I had to let her know that Spence wasn’t a regular dude. She needed security if she was going to deal with him.

On her birthday, Spence dropped down to his knee and placed a heavy ass rock on her hand. Not long after the proposal, she gave birth to a big head Spence look alike. Spence actually wanted to be married before Quad was born, but Kriss convinced him to slow down because she wanted to be heavily involved in planning her wedding and she couldn’t do that being big and pregnant. So, six months after she gave birth, she walked down the aisle to marry her second best friend. He had been so good to her… hell, to us. Since she’d been with him, Spence had been sending his rich friends my way to get a divorce and keep most of their fortune. So, within the last six months, I had become known as the ‘hot shot divorce attorney.’ I was making good money before, but now I made even more. Don’t get me wrong, I hated representing some of these dirty ass men and helping them keep their wives from getting their money, but I had a job to do, and I did it well. I can’t even lie; some of the men were so lowdown and mean that I wouldn’t take their case because their wives deserved every penny that they would be trying to take from them.

“Here we go, riiighht here,” Spence said as he kept clicking through the frames. “There you two go right there.”

I was chopping it up with one of Spence’s guests… fine ass guest at that. I had to be slightly drunk then because I remembered that moment, but vaguely. Trevor had wandered over to us and then whispered in the guy’s ear, and he walked off. You could see me mushing Trevor in his forehead before I walked away. I had gone to the bar and took three more shots of something.

“Look at you. Just a drunk. Ain’t no telling how many times you have been drunk off your—” Trevor started.

“Ain’t that you right there downing five shots of something?” Kriss said to him while pointing at the screen.

I didn’t say anything, but I rolled my eyes at him. Spence clicked through the frames a few times, and you saw both me and Trevor going to the bar and taking shots of alcohol. The next frame, you saw me walking towards the elevator with Trevor climbing on after me and pushing what had to be his floor. The next two frames, you see my hands wailing around and pointing like I was fussing at him while he was standing directly in front of me. Then… he kissed me. I made dry heaving noises watching us make out like we were a pair of teenagers.

“Ms. Barksdale, if you have to throw up, please go to the bathroom. This carpet is expensive, and I don’t want to pay for it,” Spence said, not even turning to look at me.

Trevor pulled my panties down from underneath the dress and stuffed them in his jacket pocket. He slid me up the wall while he fumbled with his pants.

  “Turn it off,” Trevor ordered.

“No, I believe this is the good part,” Spence said.

I knew the moment he entered me because my facial expression changed into a shocked look. He was pumping into me so fast. We didn’t even stop when the doors opened. He walked us out of the elevator and into his room, then Spence cut it off. Everyone was quiet. The moment Trevor’s and my eyes connected, my mouth instantly became watery. My stomach churned, and I knew all the contents I carried in my stomach were getting ready to come up. I ran to the nearest bathroom, fell to the floor, and hugged the toilet. Everything came up.

“I’ll go get you some water, best friend,” Kriss said and walked out of the bathroom.

After a few minutes, Kriss came back with a bottle of cold water. She had the top off waiting for me to take a sip. I gulped down half the damn bottle. I let out a burp, and my stomach churned again. I started throwing up in the toilet again. Once I thought I was done, I spit the rest of it out of my mouth.

  “Remind me to ne—bleh.”

In the middle of my sentence, I started throwing up again. I spit out some more. I held my head over the toilet in case some more wanted to come out of me. After I was sure I was done, I drank the last of the water that Kriss had for me.

Leaning against the counter, Kriss asked, “You really don’t remember any of what happened last night?”

Ashamed, I shook my head no. I lowered my head because I knew that she was getting ready to berate me. One thing about Kriss was that she didn’t hold back. She would let you know when you were wrong.

“Lawrynn, I am so upset with you right now! Trevor could have been anyone! ANYONE. You don’t get drunk to the point where you can’t freaking function! You don’t remember anything from last night, and I am so pissed at you, I could wring your neck. What if something had happened to you last night? What if you were raped and killed? What I would do without my best friend?”

Her voice cracked which meant that she was getting ready to cry.

“What if I had to spend the day after my wedding helping your parents identify your body? I drink. I love alcohol, but I don’t drink to the point I blackout. Whew! Let me just take a step back and calm my nerves,” she sighed.

I looked up at her, and she was wiping her eyes. She walked out of the bathroom and left me there on the floor. The tears pooled in my eyes because she was right. I knew my li
mit, but I kept drinking. I sat there on the floor for a little minute. Moments later, Spence walked in and helped me up. He handed me some pills and a bottle of water.

“This should kill your nausea and the headache I’m sure you have,” Spence said.

“Kriss is really mad at me,” I whispered.

“I am too. Extremely. I’m pissed at you both. You both knew better than to get black out drunk that way. This could have ended badly for you both. I’m just happy that this place is heavily secured.”

I threw the pills back and downed the water. I walked out of the bathroom to see Trevor standing there still looking at the blank screen on the computer. I walked past him, and I saw Kriss pacing on the balcony wiping the tears that were streaming down her face.

“Give her a little while to calm down. You know how she gets when she is upset. I’ll send her down there to talk to you in a couple of hours, okay?” Spence said to me.

I nodded my head and walked out of their suite. I got on the elevator, and before the doors could close, Trevor walked in. I sighed and looked straight ahead, trying to ignore him staring upside my head. Not being able to take it much longer, I turned and looked at him.

  “WHAT?” I shouted.

“I just want my sheet back. That’s all,” he said so smugly.

The elevator dinged on my floor, and I stepped off the elevator. Before the doors closed, I gave him the middle finger. Luckily the housekeeping lady was already in my room cleaning, or I would have to go down to the front desk wrapped in a sheet.

“Good morning, I am Lizette, your housekeeper. I’m almost finished.”
