Kacey shrugged and a small smile appeared on her face. “That may be true, but I’m certain she doesn’t know.”
“And how the fuck would you know that?” Ava asked, the scowl on her face deepening. She was getting fed up with the cavalier manner in which Kacey spoke to her about her relationship with Robin. She didn’t know anything about Ava, or her life with Robin, so for her to be this critical about her relationship was insulting.
Kacey stared up at the sky and said nothing. The longer the silence dragged on, the angrier Ava got. The woman looked at her and plainly stated, “If you were with me, you wouldn’t be working this kind of job.” Ava rolled her eyes. She was dealing with someone who thought she was some poor woman who wasn’t able to provide for herself. Ava scoffed and pulled open the car door.
“What’s the matter, Sunshine?”
Ava glowered at Kacey and spat, “I don’t need to be fucking taken care of.”
Kacey started to laugh, which only added to Ava’s irritation. She was close to punching the woman in the face. Once Kacey had caught her breath, she said, “Ain’t nobody say anything about taking care of your ass.” She let out another small laugh then drew in a deep breath and smiled as she took a step closer to Ava. “I just said you wouldn’t be working here. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice place and all, but I’m the jealous type. I wouldn’t be able to just sit at home knowing that you were out making money by showing off those moves in nothing but a g-string.”
Ava stood there with the door open as she stared speechlessly at Kacey. The woman was incredible. In one conversation, she had managed to insult her marriage, then claim that she would be jealous if they were together because Ava was an exotic dancer. Ava scoffed and countered coolly, “That’s not jealousy. That’s being possessive.”
“Whatever.”
Ava glared at the woman. “Well, lucky for you, that’s not your problem.” She got into the car and slammed the door shut. Kacey was still leaning against it as Ava put the key into the ignition. She was about to start it when she heard Kacey say through the window, “Nope. It’s not my problem at all. It’s your roommate’s.”
Ava sucked on her teeth and tried to ignore her anger. She didn’t want to do anything stupid because of it, but the woman’s flippant attitude was pissing her off. Ava wanted to put Kacey in her place before she told her to leave her the hell alone. She got out of the car, slamming the door close, then she moved to stand in front of Kacey. There was almost no space between them. Ava’s amber eyes bore into the dark ones that were in front of her and she hissed, her tone hard and angry, “What the fuck is your problem with her? You don’t know her. You don’t even know me. And you damn sure don’t know what the hell we are.” She drew in a breath. “So why the fuck are you so concerned?”
If Kacey had been affected by Ava’s anger, it didn’t show. Her passive expression remained even as Ava tore into her. It only changed when she began to speak. Her eyes softened. “I’m concerned because if you were happy, you wouldn’t be here. I’ve seen you Sunshine. Ever since you started here.” She sighed. “You lose yourself in the music and it takes you away to some place that makes you happy. And you’re happy to do it on that stage because it gives you a thrill.” She reached out and gently cupped her cheek and Ava’s eyes closed. “The other girls do it because it’s a means to an end, but for you this is an escape. It shows on your face and the way you perform on stage.”
Ava opened her eyes when she felt Kacey’s other hand on her waist. The woman pulled her closer and closed the gap between them. Kacey’s eyes flicked down to Ava’s lips as she began to run the pad of her thumb across her lower lip. Ava’s heart began to race as her brain registered what was happening. She had to get away from this woman before she did something stupid. Kacey’s hand slid across Ava’s cheek and she moved it to the back of her neck. The woman moved her head closer to Ava’s and for a split second Ava stopped breathing. Kacey’s breath brushed across her lips as she breathed. “I could make you happy.” Then she kissed Ava.
It took Ava a moment to process what was happening but eventually she realized that Kacey was kissing her, and she jerked her head back. Ava stared at the woman. Her first thought was to slap her for being so forward but that was instantly replaced by her unadulterated desire to continue the kiss. Her lips tingled in anticipation to feel the woman’s full, soft lips on her own. Ava glanced down at the woman’s mouth then she looked back into her eyes. Without thinking, she placed her hand on the back of Kacey’s neck and kissed her, hard.
Ava felt Kacey’s hands on her waist, and she smoothly turned her, so that her back was pressed against the car. Their kiss was urgent and fevered, and Ava couldn’t get enough of the woman’s mouth or the feeling of having her pressed against her. In her lust-driven haze, Ava wanted Kacey in every possible way and she clung to her body in a desperate attempt to get more of her. All it had taken was one fatal kiss for Ava to become addicted to Kacey. The other woman broke their kiss and rested her forehead on Ava’s. Ava kept her eyes closed as Kacey whispered, “Come home with me, Sunshine.”
Ava opened her eyes then moved her head away from Kacey’s. As her breathing went back to its normal cadence, she brought her hand up to trace Kacey’s kiss-swollen lips with her fingertips. “I can’t,” she said in a barely audible whisper. Ava moved her hand, and cupped Kacey’s cheek before leaning in to place a soft, lingering kiss on her lips. Seconds later she shifted back and met Kacey’s eyes.
Her brown eyes held so much emotion, Ava thought she was going to drown in them. She swallowed hard and pushed down the feelings that had tightened her throat. “We can never happen Kacey. We’re two different people.” Kacey didn’t know who she was. She didn’t even know her real name. All she knew about Ava was what she had seen at the club. Ava was certain that if Kacey did find out who she was, she would want nothing to do with her.
Ava pulled her hand away from Kacey’s cheek but the woman took hold of it. “I don’t fucking care.” The passion that burned in her eyes caused Ava’s breath to hitch. “Ever since I first saw you on that stage, I’ve been hooked. I need you, and I know you need me too, in more ways than one. Tell me I’m wrong. Tell me you don’t feel the same way.”
Ava closed her eyes so that she wouldn’t get lost in the brown depths before her. She did feel the same way. Ever since she had seen Kacey sitting at the end of the runway, she had been drawn to her. It was as if there was some invisible force pushing her towards the woman. The feeling had only intensified when they kissed, and it caused an electric charge to travel through Ava’s body which had her yearning for more. But she wasn’t going to admit that, not to herself or Kacey. It would lead to a dangerous road that Ava did not want to travel down. Ava drew in an unsteady breath and as she exhaled she opened her eyes, automatically meeting Kacey’s. “I don’t, Kacey. I’m sorry.”
Ava left the woman’s embrace and she got into her car, avoiding Kacey’s gaze as she started it. Looking into the woman’s soulful, brown eyes would cause her to give into the inevitable, and Ava didn’t want to surrender to the urges that caused all the warnings in her head to go off. She put the car in drive and pulled out of parking lot. Ava stared out the windshield as she drove, but she wasn’t registering anything. She just kept thinking about Kacey and how she wished they had met three years ago, or even just a year prior. Why did she have to meet her now?
Tears began to form in Ava’s eyes as her frustrations overwhelmed her. She pulled the car over and rested her forehead on the steering wheel as tears began to make their way down her cheeks. Nothing about this situation was fair.
Ava was trying to get a handle on her emotions when there was a knock on her window. She took a deep breath then lifted her head. Ava wiped at her eyes in a vain attempt to look somewhat presentable for the police officer that would have stopped to check on her, and her chest tightened when she found dark, intense eyes looking at her. Kacey stared at her for a second, then ordered, “Unlock th
e door.” Ava complied, and the woman walked around the car to get to the passenger side. She got in then closed the door. “Drive and I’ll tell you where to go.”
Ava didn’t ask any questions, she just did what Kacey told her and followed her directions. As they drove down the street, Ava focused on her driving and didn’t think about anything else. She didn’t think about the woman that was sitting next to her, nor did she think about Robin. When Ava was able to form a coherent thought, it brought with it an awareness of what was going to happen. The unavoidable was going to happen between her and Kacey, and she wasn’t going to stop it. Kacey made Ava feel and crave for things that she had never felt before, and she wanted to experience them. She would think about the consequences afterward.
Ava was pulled from her thoughts when Kacey took hold of her hand. She glanced at the woman. Her nerves caused her stomach to knot up and her palms to sweat, but the anxiety she felt wasn't enough to diminish her arousal. Stopping what was occurring between her and Kacey was impossible now; Ava had made her decision the moment she started driving. She just hoped that she would be able to live with the aftermath of what she was going to do.

Chapter Four
Ava’s back hit the wall with a soft thud and she looked at the woman standing in front of her. There was a seductive grin playing on Kacey’s lips, and a hunger in her eyes. Ava felt like her heart was going to beat its way out of her chest as her body responded to the other woman’s lustful expression. Kacey took the two steps that would close the gap between her and Ava and their lips met for a fiery kiss.
Ava tightened her hold on Kacey’s waist, and pulled her closer. Though the space between them was already nonexistent, Ava wanted her close as possible. She anxious to feel Kacey’s skin on hers and was ready for them to give in to the heady arousal that was driving her to the brink of insanity. Ava grabbed Kacey’s ass through the sturdy denim of her jeans and the woman smiled into their kiss, letting it last a second longer before pulling away. Ava saw the grin that was on her face, and it turned her on as much as it irritated her. She just wanted the woman to put her out of her misery. Kacey took hold of her hand. “We should probably keep going, unless you’re into exhibitionism, Sunshine.”
Ava followed behind her and said, “Ava.” She figured if she was going to give in to desires, then she was going to do it with her actual name, and not with some stage name that she despised.
Kacey stopped walking and she turned to look at Ava. Her left eyebrow went up and there were slight creases on her forehead as confusion showed in her eyes. “Huh?”
Ava softly chuckled as she moved closer Kacey. When she was standing in front of her, Ava leaned in and swiped the tip of her tongue over Kacey’s bottom lip. “Ava,” she whispered, her hand moving down the front of the soft, black t-shirt that Kacey was wearing. It traveled between her breasts and over her stomach. Ava smirked when she felt Kacey’s abdominal muscles tighten up under her fingers. Her hand reached the belt that was on Kacey’s jeans. As she undid it she said, “If I’m going to do this, you’re not going to keep calling me Sunshine.”
Kacey ran her hand through Ava’s hair and she kept it there so that she could pull her in for a deep kiss. It was a quick one, but there was an overwhelming amount of heat behind it, and Ava gripped the bottom of her t-shirt. Kacey pulled back and the corners of her mouth were turned up in a wide grin. “We’ll see, Sunshine.” Ava scowled at Kacey as she tried to control her breathing. Once it had returned to normal, Ava pushed her away, but Kacey grabbed her hand. She gave it a gentle tug and chuckled. “All right, Ava, let’s go.” They continued to walk down the hall and Kacey glanced at her. “But I’m still going to call you Sunshine.”
Ava let go of Kacey’s hand and stopped walking. She crossed her arms over her chest and said, “Each time you call me that, I’m going to charge you.”
Kacey turned to look at her then she slipped her hands into her back pockets. There was a playful glint in her eyes as she smirked. “Upgrading to prostitution? That’s a leap from being a stripper.”
Ava scoffed then argued, “Oh fuck you. And I’m not a stripper. I don’t take my clothes off.”
Kacey pressed her lips together. “I feel like you’re splitting hairs here, Sunshine.” She pulled her hands out of her pockets then sauntered over to Ava. The arrogant smirk returned to her face and Ava was worried about what the woman was going to say. Kacey came to a stop in front of her and there a small amount of space between them. “But you know what? You’re right. You’re not a stripper.” Ava allowed herself a self-congratulatory smile, but she wasn’t able to enjoy it for long. “In order to be a stripper you have to have a backbone, and you’re still lacking in that department.”
Ava glared at the woman and pursed her lips together. Kacey had no idea what she was talking about and the fact that she was insulting Ava in such a nonchalant manner caused her to come back to her senses. She turned and walked away.
She heard a soft laugh then Kacey asked, “What’s the matter Sunshine? Did things get a little too real for you?”
Ava gnawed on her bottom lip as she continued to walk down the hall and away from Kacey. She was trying hard to not let the woman’s taunts get to her, but she was losing that battle because of her pride. The woman had ridiculed her, and now she was calling her a coward. Ava wasn’t going to stand for it. She spun around and stalked back over to where Kacey stood in the hall. Ava invaded her personal space and her amber eyes bore into the dark ones that gazed at her in amusement. Kacey finding humor in their conversation angered her more. “Real, Kacey? Nothing has gotten real for me. You know nothing about me, or my life.” The woman looked unaffected by her rage and that only fuelled Ava’s tirade. “You’re fucking standing there spouting off all this deep and insightful bullshit like you know me. Bbut outside of the club, and what I’ve told you, what the fuck do you actually know?”
Ava took a deep breath as Kacey stood there staring at her. The smirk that had been on her face had vanished and her lips were set in a firm line. Ava didn’t care if she had pissed the other woman off - she deserved it for calling her a coward and insulting her. Kacey was arrogant, and she needed to be put in her place. A full minute had passed when Ava realized that Kacey wasn’t going to say anything. She turned to leave and the other woman grabbed at her hand. Ava snatched it away and spun around, glaring at Kacey with a cold, hard stare.
Kacey took a step towards her. “I’ve only been going off of what I’ve observed. If there’s a different story here, then I’m all ears.”
Ava scowled and set her jaw. She wasn’t going to tell Kacey a damn thing. Her personal life wasn’t open for criticism. Ava stayed silent, and an arrogant smile appeared on Kacey’s face. “That’s what I thought. Now, Sunshine, are you going to grow a backbone and do something that makes you happy for once in your life, or are you going to go?”
Ava seethed with anger while Kacey stood there looking self-righteous and full of herself. She wanted to slap the woman and tell her to go fuck herself, secretly hoping that it would also make her come to her own senses, and she would realize that the current situation was only going to lead to heartbreak and destruction. Instead, Ava continued to glare at Kacey. “Why are you so fucking infuriating?”
Kacey stepped towards her and the gap that was between them diminished. She placed her hand on the back of Ava’s neck, and kissed her hard on the mouth. The kiss was intense, and the fire behind it reignited Ava’s simmering arousal. She grasped at Kacey’s back as the kiss deepened. Kacey’s other hand moved to Ava’s ass and she grabbed it through the sweatpants that she was wearing. Ava moaned, and the woman’s tongue slipped into her mouth.
After a slow, but thorough, exploration of Ava’s mouth, the low throb that Ava felt between her legs blossomed into a continuous pulsating sensation. She ached to have Kacey’s talented tongue in other places, but Ava knew that she wasn’t going to get what she wanted at that moment.
Kac
ey broke the kiss and guided Ava back, whispering, “Because I make you feel things.” Ava’s back hit the wall of the corridor, but their eyes never wavered from each other. “Things you have never felt before.” Ava felt the waistband of her sweatpants get pulled away from her body then Kacey’s hand went down the front of them. Ava’s head fell back and she closed her eyes as the woman cupped her between her thighs. She wasn’t wearing any underwear, and Kacey gave a low hum of approval when she discovered this. Ava’s back arched off of the wall and her breath grew shallow as Kacey’s nimble fingers glided between her wet, heated flesh. She slipped two of her fingers into Ava, thrusting ardently, and Ava drew in a gasp that was followed by a soft cry of pleasure.
Ava squeezed her eyes shut as she reveled in the pleasure that came from Kacey’s wonderful intrusion. She felt the woman’s hot breath against her ear. “Does she make you feel like this Ava?” Kacey’s fingers began to glide in and out of her. “Does she know how to make you feel alive?” The invading fingers pushed deeply inside of her and Ava bit back a moan as she dug her nails into Kacey’s lower back. She felt Kacey’s other hand on the back of her neck and her head was brought forward. “Open your eyes Ava.”
Ava didn’t comply, biting her bottom lip harder as the fingers inside of her continued to stroke her aroused muscles. She felt the stirrings of her growing orgasm and Ava began to move her hips in time with Kacey’s fingers. The woman demanded that she open her eyes again and this time Ava was able to. The intensity of Kacey’s dark eyes had increased, and it was highlighted by the passion that burned in them. Ava began to think that Kacey was trying to stare into her soul. “Does she know how to make you come?” Kacey emphasized each syllable by driving her fingers in and out of Ava. When she reached the word ‘come’ Kacey drove her fingers deeper inside of her, giving Ava what she needed to reach her orgasm.
