The bridge of the Fury was a hive of activity. The crew had accepted Vaccaro’s enforced retirement better than Jasper had expected. There had been minimal resistance to the change of command. His senior crew and other key officers had taken their assigned posts without question or challenge. Still it was be expected he thought that a prototype ship such as she was would be crewed by those most dedicated adherents of the liturgy. “No mercy or compassion for the weak, only the spoils of victory for the strong, as it was meant to be.” So long as he held true to that they would follow to him hell and back if the rewards were great enough.
Jackson snapped him out of his reverie. “We're being scanned.”
“Ford? Can you block him?”
Jackson nodded “Yes, I believe so, to both questions.”
Jasper smiled. “Let the Guardian see just enough to know what he and his precious ark have got coming.”
