“Yeah?” she asked with hopeful eyes.
“I felt it. It hurt.”
“Bad?”
“No, not bad, babe.” Reese pulled her back down to her lips. “But I felt it.”
Kellan kissed her then and pulled her own shirt over her body, tossing it on the floor somewhere next to Reese’s. Reese had gotten into the clinical trial. They’d started with the injections a few weeks after Kellan had moved to Tahoe. They started out with four injections daily, which had taken a toll on Reese physically and mentally when nothing happened at the beginning. That had gone on for over a month, so Reese and Kellan both worried she’d been placed on the placebo.
The doctor told them to keep at it though, for the sake of the trial if nothing else. When the injections went from four to two for the following few months, Reese still showed no signs and completed the trial believing she had been placed on the placebo. When the specialist told her they were switching her to the nasal spray though, Kellan had known Reese had been on the real drug then. The specialist was trying another delivery mechanism for the strong drug combination to see if it would have any effect. Reese used it several times daily for the next several months. While she was lucky there were no negative side effects and that she’d been relatively healthy, she also wasn’t showing any signs of positive results. They’d all but given up on the trial.
Reese hadn’t felt any pain during any of the exams or any of her own pokes and prods at home. Kellan had no explanation for why Reese would feel pain tonight and no other night. The drug dosage hadn’t been increased nor had she taken more than the required dose. It may have simply been the last time Reese had taken it, the drug had broken down the last of the barriers to Reese’s nerve, registering the pain, or it may have been something else entirely.
“You’re going to the doctor tomorrow,” Kellan told her when Reese laid down on top of her.
“Yes, I am,” she agreed. “But we’re not talking about that anymore tonight.”
“No, we’re not. I think we should talk about something else.”
“What’s that?”
“I think you should ask me to move in with you.”
“You do?” Reese laughed as Kellan kissed her neck.
“I do, yes.”
“Because you bit my nipple and I felt it?”
“Because we love each other and Remy is moving in with Ryan. I’d ask you to move in here, but I’m renting, and you own.” Kellan leaned up and placed her hand on Reese’s heart. “I love you.”
“I love you,” Reese told her. “I was going to ask you to move in on the anniversary of our little island trip,” she confessed. “You’ve now ruined my surprise.” She pulled Kellan’s hips back down. “I’ll forgive you, though, if it means you’ll move in sooner.”
“How kind of you.” Kellan played with her earlobe. “When will Remy be out?”
“Next weekend. She and Ryan closed on their new place yesterday.”
“What will we turn her old room into?” Kellan asked as she kissed Reese’s jawline.
“A nursery,” Reese told her.
Kellan lifted up to stare down at her once more, with those bright blue eyes showing immense happiness in their color.
“Yeah?” Kellan smiled.
“Well, one day.” Reese rubbed her hands over Kellan’s back.
“One day,” Kellan agreed.

Macon’s Heart
(San Francisco Series Book #2)
Macon Greene is a reluctant, world-renowned violinist. She’d never had a problem playing for a crowd as long as she wasn’t giving a solo. Her friends never seemed to notice her reluctance. In fact, her friends seemed to only really notice one thing about Macon – she always had a different woman around her. Sometimes, she’d flirt. Sometimes, they would. Rarely would it go anywhere. Unfortunately for Macon, she had a bit of a reputation.
Joanna Mason had a new profession and a new group of friends. Things were looking up in her life, with the exception of love. She’d never been able to find the right guy for her. Of course, she was spending a lot of time with a group of lesbians these days through her friendship with Emma Colton. That might have something to do with it. While Emma had found her soulmate in Keira Worthy, Joanna was starting to wonder if she’d ever find the person she wanted to spend the rest of her life with.
As Joanna and Macon’s friendship becomes the most important relationship for both women, Macon wonders if she’ll ever have the courage to tell Joanna how she feels or if she’ll just have to find a way to get over it. Joanna hadn’t ever thought of being with a woman until she started spending all her free time with the beautiful and remarkably talented Macon. Suddenly, both women have a lot to think about.
