  About the Authors

  James W. Ceaser is Harry F. Byrd Professor of Politics at the University of Virginia and a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University. He is the author of several books on American politics and American political thought, including Reconstructing America (1997), Nature and History in American Political Development (2006), Designing a Polity (2010), Epic Journey: The 2008 Elections and American Politics (revised 2011), and After Hope and Change: The 2012 Elections and American Politics (revised 2015).

  Andrew E. Busch is Crown Professor of Government and George R. Roberts Fellow at Claremont McKenna College, where he teaches courses on American government and politics and serves as director of the Rose Institute of State and Local Government. Busch has authored or coauthored several books on American politics, including, most recently, After Hope and Change: The 2012 Elections and American Politics (revised 2015), along with more than thirty articles and chapters in edited volumes.

  John J. Pitney Jr. is professor of government at Claremont McKenna College. He is the author of The Art of Political Warfare (2001) and coauthor of Congress’ Permanent Minority? Republicans in the U.S. House (1994), Epic Journey: The 2008 Elections and American Politics (revised 2011), and The Politics of Autism (2015). Professor Pitney is a frequent contributor to the popular press and hosts the widely read blog Epic Journey.
