Family, I think, staring at the man I love more than anything in this world. I like the sound of that. My blood will always be Black Savage, but my heart belongs to a Soulless King.
I’ve never felt more at home.
Epilogue
They say your life flashes before your eyes the moment just before death. They fucking lied.
Fender
Six months later…
“Mmm, that’s one hell of a ‘happy birthday’.”
Charlie curls into my side and splays her fingers over the tattoo on my chest. I woke up to her mouth on my dick but quickly turned the tables and made her scream my name. A few times, in fact.
“Wait.” I roll to my side and let my expression turn concerned. “It’s your birthday?”
Her eyes grow wide and for a split second, she looks hurt, but I can’t maintain a straight face and when my lips tip up into a grin, she punches me in the arm.
I grab her hand and pull her toward me, laughing as I do.
“Did you really think I wouldn’t remember that it’s your birthday?”
When she doesn’t answer, it’s my turn to look hurt. I lean in and press my lips to hers, lightly at first. The kiss is sweet, but my cock quickly hardens and ignites my blood. I thrust my tongue past the seam of her lips and tangle it with hers.
Charlie breaks the kiss and climbs on top of me to straddle my hips. With her hands braced on my pecs, she lowers onto my dick and her velvety heat surrounds me. She throws her head back and rides me and, despite having just gotten off not ten minutes earlier, we both shatter quickly.
“Fuck,” I say as a shudder rolls through me. “Whose birthday is it again?”
Charlie chuckles as she scrambles off the bed and struts naked to the bathroom. She throws a sultry look over her shoulder before she crosses the threshold and I rush to join her. We shower together, and as much as I could go for round three, I’ve got a lot to do before her party this evening and her first surprise is going to be here soon.
As she’s putting on the last of her make-up, I stand behind her and admire her reflection in the mirror. Charlie is fucking sexy as hell on her own, but with what she calls her smoky eye look and deep red lipstick, her level of beauty morphs into something that should be illegal.
“You’re killing me,” I murmur in her ear as I wrap my arms around her waist and nuzzle her neck.
Charlie tilts her head to grant me better access, and a sigh escapes past her slightly parted lips. I nibble her flesh and trace my tongue in lazy circles until my cock strains against my zipper, begging to be freed. I pull away from her on a groan, and my eyes connect with hers in the mirror.
“Maybe I should just stay in my birthday suit today,” she says with a saucy grin.
I take a step back and let my gaze drop to her ass, shaking my head. “Nah. I love your ass in these jeans.”
“You love my ass no matter what I’m wearing… or not wearing.”
“True.” I swat her ass. “Hurry up and finish getting ready.”
As if on cue, my cell phone rings from the other room, and I hurry to answer it.
“You two managed to get outta bed yet or do I have to come over there and drag you out?”
“Fuck you, Piston,” I say, with no heat behind the words.
“Pretty sure your dick couldn’t handle it.”
“Did you want something?”
“Yeah, Charlie’s mom and sister are…”
Charlie steps into the room and Piston’s voice fades into the background. I know I just saw her, but my mouth waters at the vision in front of me. Ass-hugging jeans, knee high Harley Davidson boots, tight long-sleeved red tee with a V she cut into it so her cleavage is on display.
“Fender?”
Charlie’s hips sway as she saunters over to me.
“Fender?”
Charlie stands in front of me and I can’t help but wonder how I got so lucky.
“Fender!”
Piston’s voice registers and I shake my head to clear my thoughts.
“What the fuck?” I snap.
“Did you hear a word I said?” Piston asks.
“Ah, yeah.” It comes out sounding like a question.
“Good. Should I send them there or what?”
“Who?”
“Jesus, brother.” Piston sounds exasperated as hell. “Charlie’s mom and sister. Do you want me to send them there or are you guys coming to the clubhouse?”
“Oh, right. Uh, we’ll be right there. Keep ‘em occupied.”
“Fine. But hurry up. It’s weird, them being here.”
The line goes silent, and it’s a full ten seconds before I realize that Piston hung up. I toss the phone on the bed and stand to wrap my arms around Charlie’s waist. She extends her arms and holds me at a distance.
“Nope, not happening.” She laughs. “I don’t know what’s going on, but you just said we’d be right there… wherever ‘there’ is.”
“Just grab your cut and let’s go.”
Charlie looks toward the chair in the corner, where she usually drops her cut at the end of the day.
Rather than wait for me to tell her anything or respond in any way, Charlie struts out of the bedroom. My feet are glued to their spot until I hear the front door open and then I’m running after her. I pull the door shut behind me, the slam bouncing off the trees surrounding our house.
Charlie is already on her bike and revving the engine by the time I straddle mine.
“Follow me,” I instruct and she does.
We drive the few minutes to the clubhouse and park our bikes to the right of the porch. I don’t see evidence of our visitors, which is good. Piston must’ve had them park around back.
I guide Charlie inside and to the main room, where her mom and Sylvia are sitting at the bar talking to Margo, looking right at home. They may still be part of the Black Savages family, but they’re also a part of mine because they’re Charlie’s.
Charlie’s eyes dart back and forth between me and her family, and then she takes off squealing and launches herself at her sister. As I stand there and watch their interaction, I realize how much Charlie has sacrificed to be with me. She’s closer to her mom and Sylvia than she’s ever been, according to her, but she doesn’t see them as often as she should.
Ever since she moved in with me, Charlie has embraced the Soulless Kings as much as they’ve embraced her. Things are easier with Leal out of the picture. Fucking prick created a war that didn’t need to happen. Soulless Kings and Black Savages will never be friends, but we’re no longer sworn enemies. We tolerate each other, and for Charlie’s sake, I hope we can keep things that way.
“Looks like you did good.”
I turn to see Joker standing there with a beer held out for me. I wrap my fingers around the neck of the bottle and take a long swallow of the cold brew.
“This is just the beginning,” I say and my lips tilt into a grin.
The entire Soulless Kings MC: Oregon Chapter is here, and the party is starting to get a little wild. Charlie seems to be having the time of her life, but I’ve still got a few things up my sleeve and I don’t want some dumb drunk fuck to mess them up.
“You better do your thing, man.”
Piston slaps a hand on my shoulder, and I glance at him. My heart feels like it’s going to beat out of my chest and my palms are sweaty. What the fuck is wrong with me? I’m a badass motherfucker and I don’t get nervous. Ever.
Apparently you do.
I walk to the bar and leap up to stand on top of it. Def Leppard is belting through the speakers and I pull my cell out to turn it off. It takes a few seconds, but soon everyone realizes that the music is gone, and they stop dancing.
“Listen up,” I shout out over the crowd. “First, I want to thank everyone for coming out to celebrate Charlie’s birthday.” Cheers fill the air, as do beer bottles and whiskey glasses as everyone salutes Charlie. I turn my attention toward her. “Babe, c’mon up here.”
I hold my arm out, inviting her to join me on the bar. She stares at me for a moment, eyes wide, grin wider, before giving in and stretching her arm up. I clasp my hand around her bicep and lift her up to stand next to me.
“Everyone here knows that Charlie and I have a complicated story.” I pause to let the laughter die down and chuckle as several shouts ring out about how that’s an understatement. “But, there’s nothing complicated about how I feel about her.” I turn to face Charlie, and her face is red with embarrassment. “Charlie, I know you’ve been riding since the moment your dad gave you your first bike. You grew up with the Black Savages and you’ve been walking the line between them and the Soulless Kings for a while now.”
I lean down to grab the gift-wrapped box that Piston’s holding up to me. When I hand it to Charlie, I say, “Happy fucking birthday, babe. I hope you like it.”
Charlie wastes no time tearing off the paper and tossing it to the floor. Charlie’s always liked presents and I make a mental note to never stop giving her things, even if it’s just because. When she lifts the lid and finally glimpses what’s inside, her hand flies to her mouth, and her gaze darts back and forth between me and her gift.
“Ya gonna take it out and show everyone or stand there gaping?” Joker yells from the back of the room.
“Shut up, asshole,” Charlie quips, although she’s laughing as she says it.
When she makes no move to lift her gift out, I do it for her, holding up the leather cut for her and everyone to see. On the back is a Soulless Kings patch with a bottom rocker that reads ‘Property of Fender’. On the front left, stitched in red on a white patch are the words ‘Black Savage by birth, Soulless King by choice’. On the front right there’s a patch with the infinity symbol, that is identical to our matching tattoos.
Charlie snatches the cut out of my hands and looks at each patch with a giant smile on her face.
“Charlie,” I start, and she raises her eyes to mine. “I love you so fucking much. I already made you a partner in Infinite Motors, you share my house, my bed, my love of riding and my sense of loyalty.” I reach into my pocket, pull out the box that’s been burning a hole there all day and get down on one knee. Charlie’s hand flies to her mouth. “I know that we don’t need a piece of paper to be partners in life and, as far as I’m concerned, you’re already my ol’ Lady, but how ‘bout we make it official? Will you marry me? Be a Soulless King’s queen and stand beside me, no matter what, for the rest of our lives?”
Charlie doesn’t say anything for a moment, and my stomach starts to drop. I glance at Piston and he shrugs as if to say ‘no idea what’s going on’. I slowly rise to my feet and the moment I lift my foot to step toward her, she jumps up and wraps her legs around my waist. I stumble backward even as my arms catch her.
“Is that a yes?” someone shouts from the crowd.
“Babe, I kinda want the answer to that question, too.”
I try to make light of my nerves, but she’s killing me.
“No, it’s not a yes,” Charlie says, her voice clear and loud.
My arms grow weak and my vision blurs. That is not at all what I was expecting. I try to set Charlie on her feet, but she tightens her legs and her arms around my neck.
“It’s a fuck yes.”
Cheers erupt in the room, and Charlie’s lips crash into mine.
