Maybe she could tell them a few things. Talking about Miles made it feel real when he wasn’t there. Telling them about the rose petals would be innocent enough. That would be good. But there were some details she was keeping to herself.

MILES GLANCED AT HIS phone.
Diha hadn’t replied to his last text, but he knew she had something that was likely going to occupy her for several hours. He’d do his best to not focus on that. He had his own work to do, after all.
And every item he scratched off the list got him closer to his end goal.

After her revelations to him about the issues their team was facing, Zora had imparted a little more knowledge to him. Armed with that, he’d seen patterns and connections in the information collected from George Ward. Things he wouldn’t have seen otherwise.
It was clear to him now that whatever Diha and her people were working on it wasn’t just an American matter. It was global. And that meant Miles wanted in.
The decision wasn’t final yet. He still needed to do more investigating into Ward, but in a month or six weeks, he’d take the next step.
He was joining the task force.
Diha’s parents were going to have to get used to the idea of him in their lives. He was going to marry Diha. Not soon. They’d already agreed on that. While he’d already known what they had was more than just spark, she’d needed time to believe it and see the proof. Besides, they didn’t need to rush into anything, not that they were great about leaving the future to figure out later. They’d manage.
These weeks apart were hard, but he knew her, and that they’d spend forever together.
