I shrugged, “what brought that up?”

He was watching my profile. “If you’re as close as you say, shouldn’t you talk?”

“Most guys don’t like my closeness to Moses.”

He smiled, “yeah, most guys are insecure. I’m not.”

I looked up at him and raised my brows. “I see that.”

“If you’re doing it to see if this works better without him…it won’t.”

I stopped on the street and my smile fell. “What does that mean?”

“I think a tiny part of you wants to see if we’ll get closer if your friend isn’t here to lean on. Won’t work. I can’t fill his shoes, and cutting him out will make you see that faster.”

I looked Rex up and down. Who died and made him Yoda? I don’t know but his acceptance and shove in the right direction just won him 50 points more.

I got in front of him and stood on my toes to kiss his lips. He closed his eyes and let the feeling in. When I pulled back he opened them and watched me.

I set my arms around his neck, “do you want to talk about Moses, or walk me to my door?”

He gave a laugh and took my hand again to lead me up to my door.

He let me get the lock open and stepped in with me but stayed at the door. “Tonight was fun,” he said with his hands in his pockets. “I like taking you out, and you looked gorgeous.”

I still have my wrist in a brace but after petting Goliath I stood straight and reached under to pull my shirt off. Rex isn’t a pushy guy like Brandon and I like that, it makes me want to be aggressive.

He let his eyes travel over my lace white bra then back up to my face. “Uh,” he smirked again and cleared his throat. “We don’t have to you know? I’m good with a…challenge.”

I unhooked the back of my skirt and stepped out of it in my matching low cut panties.

He raised his brows, “damn…okay,” he laughed nervously and I went over and held his shirt collar to slowly pull him into the room.

“Relax Officer, it’s sex, not a drill.”

He laughed and kissed me before coming down on the bed with me. He’s a good kisser and the rest of the night was just as good. He wasn’t demanding or inept. He actually made me cum twice and he even stayed the night to hold me. It wasn’t until 3am I realized he was perfect for me, and that’s why I never called him back.

  MOSES

  August

Now it’s been a month and I haven’t heard from Chloe or Jenzy and my life is in ruins. I’m seriously pining for Jenzy. My heart is always heavy and my drive is gone. I try calling but she never picks up and I feel very disconnected. There was never a goodbye or a reason, so I feel no closure and no drive to move on. Jenzy was perfect for me.

Chloe, on the other hand, is helping to destroy me. I have no one to talk to and no way to get my mind off losing Jenzy, a girl I was falling in love with. I wear my best friend charm daily even though it’s girly and cheap because I miss Chloe with a burning passion.

We don’t usually stay mad at each other this long. I heard from Brianna she was still seeing the cop and that infuriated me for some reason. I hate all Chloe’s boyfriends. They all suck. When Brianna told me they broke up it was the closest to happy I’d gotten.

My dad nags asking if I’m okay. Whenever I work the bookstore he tells me I look like shit and I need a shave. I work his place every day now in hopes Jenzy will pop in but she doesn’t.

I got a call from Brianna while I was stocking new books but put my phone to silent. After a girl I don’t know stopped flirting with me I listened to the voicemail.

  Brianna began,

“Hey boo! I need you to shave and make that sexy ass more sexy. There’s a dance class for the blind at Chloe’s studio and I need a partner. A hot one, because a guy I like is teaching the class. Do it for me! Please! Pleeeeeease! Yes, it’s in Chloe’s room. Don’t worry, though, it’s nowhere near Chloe’s class schedule and she’s off today. So you two can continue your ridiculous avoidance of each other that we all know will end in closer friendship. Anyway! Call me back and be my date. I’ll be there at seven sharp. Be there! Or I shall bring down the wrath of Thor! Thunder sounds then dramatic music. Bye!”

I smiled to myself and sent her a confirm call. I can’t tell Brianna no. She’s like my little sister too.

When I got off I went home and showered then trimmed my beard and shaped it close before throwing on jeans and a short sleeve button down. I hurried out and drove there then sprinted to Chloe’s classroom. It was all dark when I opened the door and where the long wall length mirror was a microphone is set up and three dressing screens set together.

“Hello?” I called. There’s always been a disco ball in the ceiling but someone set it to blue and it was making this all really weird.

“Anyone in here?” I tried again.

A dog barked and it sounded like Goliath. There’s a chair toward the back of the room. It’s a fold up, and it’s the only one.

I heard heels clicking on the floor and looked up to see Brianna. She’s dressed in a flashy blue mini dress with sparkling blue heels and blue lipstick. She felt her way to the mic with her walking stick and felt up the bar for it,

“Ah ha!” she said once she grasped it. Her voice came in loud and clear on the speakers. “Hola!” she called.

“Brianna, what’s going on? The studio looks closed.” I said, “and is Goliath here?”

“Zip your face, and have a seat.”

I frowned. “Why are you all in blue? Are your nails blue?”

  “I don’t hear chair legs.”

  I sighed and sat.

“Good boy.” She said over the speakers. “Now…we heard there was someone with a blue heart in town.” She paused to pout and I sat back and crossed my arms.

“What the hell are you doing?”

“See Moses,” she set her hand on her hip and set down her stick to hold the mic. “Friends deal with friends when friends are being little shits. When that shit friend is going through a rough patch the other friend puts aside their shitty-ness to lift them back to good spirits. Your dad says you haven’t smiled in a month.”

I took a steady breath. I hadn’t. I can’t think of anything to smile about and I feel very alone.

Brianna went on, “so…with that being said, we’ve heard about your blue state and your agony over your missing love. I’m going to tell you a little story. Get comfy and listen up. In advance. This following song is not about drugs…”

I frowned and watched her clear her throat then the unmistakable space sounds of a 90’s song. Was that Blue (Da Ba Dee) by Eiffel 65???

She lip synced the whole opening to the song which actually did make me smile. She was pointing at me in regard to the guy in the song and as the music progressed from narrative to a beat she waved to the dressing screens and the lights behind there went on.

  The dance melody kicked in.

The silhouette of a super sensual dancer started to twist around and move to the song. The back of the screen was lit up with heavy blue light so I could make out her moves. My first thought was Chloe but we aren’t talking.

She danced her way from the first screen to the last until she leapt out and my mouth opened on a mixed up laugh of hilarity and relief. It’s my girl alright, it’s Chloe but her hair is bright blue and she’s in an obnoxious blue stripper spoof on a cop jacket dress. Black shades and a hat, she’s all decked out. She’s got on clear glittery platforms and she’s dancing her old way. The truly nasty sexually raw way.

Brianna is still lip syncing the song from our teen years and the smile on my face is totally from the heart. Chloe went to the pole and did a spin and shook her ass like the money maker it was.

When she faced me and set her back to the pole she tossed her sunglasses and hat at me. Whilst she purred the pole she ripped open her jacket to reveal a tighter, smaller cop dress. She tossed the coat aside and skipped her way to the next pole then jumped it and did a wide spin with not
hing but her thighs holding on.

She did some twerks in the air then fell with a split. Rolling on the floor she whipped her hair and did a tumble forward before going up on all fours and sliding my way.

My chest did something strange. She parted my knees and forced me to sit back then flipped to her back and slid under my chair between my legs. She came out the other side and before I knew what to expect I felt something cool close around my wrists.

“Shit! Guys, come on.” I laughed. She ignored me and secured both wrists in the cuffs to my chair. They feel dinky and I’m 100% sure I could break them without trying but I know what they’re doing and I’m willing to play along.

Chloe danced her way up to Brianna and they did a hilarious dance together while Brianna continued her lip sync.

In the midst of this Chloe whistled and Goliath came galloping out in a big blue ribbon and Brianna pulled a string by the mic that released a ton of blue balloons. From the ceiling over them. How did I not see them?

Goliath took advantage of my being tied up and jumped my lap. I had to dig in my heels to keep from falling over and he licked my face like mad. This is evoking honest laughter from me. It’s like sadness intervention. I can’t not feel it and the girls know that.

Chloe started dancing my way and Brianna slapped her ass. Goliath went and chased a balloon and Chloe kicked my legs apart again and did a dance that was sexy but funny as hell.

Brianna came over the speakers behind the music. “We realize you are still broken over your Lass! But let us not forget you are first a manly man! And mans, they like the boobs so boobs are boobs.”

I was laughing so hard I was crying a little, when Chloe straddled my lap and unzipped her cop dress all the way down the front and showed off a darker blue bra and underwear. She whipped her hair in my face then shimmied her shoulders and gyrated in my lap.

Her hips went forward and rode me moving back and her eyes on mine made it happen. The inevitable hard on. I’m controlling it to the best of my abilities but this song feels really long. She even pressed her breasts up near my face and her scent is making me feel animal.

She got up and stood between my legs to back her ass into my chest and the movements are making me crazy. Maybe it’s good my hands are tied because I’m actually tempted to reach out and touch. Chloe! My best friend!

She sat in my groin and rolled her bottom into my dick and the friction made my cock stiffen. I blew out air and tried not looking but then she laid back with her arms linking behind my neck, and her breasts pressed outward by my face. She slid down from my chest to the floor where she turned and knelt to throw her blue hair around.

I’m in trouble. My mind has her opening my pants and setting her naturally pink lips over the head of my cock and that’s not acceptable on any natural level. She’s doing this to goof with me. It doesn’t mean anything, it’s just fun to make me laugh, to pull me out of the funk but Christ, I’m turned on and I’m worried how she’ll feel if she sees it.

The song is finally ending and so is her lap dance. She ended it across my lap arching her body up to me. With the song off, the heavy laughter from the three of us and Brianna heading our way, the flames in my groin die down.

Chloe sat up in my lap and wrapped her arm around my neck. “Hey Moses,” she panted.

I smiled at her, “hey Baby Girl. You talking to me again?”

She laughed and raked her hair back, “I have too much to tell you to stay mad so long.”

“I’m sorry,” I bumped our foreheads and she gave me a squeeze.

  “Me too.”

“Awwww,” Brianna applauded us, “everyone friends again?”

We both chimed a ‘yes’ then both girls leaned in to kiss my cheeks at the same time. “Thanks, guys,” I looked at both of them, “I mean it. I haven’t laughed in days so, I’m serious, this meant a lot.” I looked at Chloe and laughed, “tell me you didn’t dye your hair blue for me.”

She flipped it around. “It will wash out. It’s a spray in. I like it though. I’m like a sexy Smurf.”

Brianna used her stick to go to the wall then turned on the light then turned it off then on, “huh…these lights don’t work. No, wait. I’m blind,” she went into a fit of laughter and we did with her.

Chloe connected out friendship charms and gave me a meaningful look, “You’re still wearing it.”

I pulled at my restraints then winked, “course I am, you’re my girl. Fights don’t change that.”

She smiled and hugged me with too much force so my chair went over backward onto the floor.

Brianna came over with her walking stick and whacked at us as she tried to feel her way around. “Jeez guys, get a room.”

  Chapter Fifteen

  CHLOE

Life is good again because Moses is back in my life and though it sounds wrong, there’s no boyfriends or girlfriends keeping us at respectable distances anymore. We can be the close and obnoxious BFFs that don’t have to have boundaries to make our dates less uncomfortable.

Things are great and I’m fully healed from the sprain so my classes are up again.

I stayed late after my last one tonight to do some freestyle. I’m in a yellow sports bra and booty shorts and my heels are black so I look like a bumble bee. I’ve got easy music on for more expressive than sexy dancing. I’m doing a lot of thinking. Like how I might talk to Moses about having feelings for him for the past twenty odd years.

With every spin on the pole, I’m imagining his reaction and what my response to each of his might be. I feel brave tonight and though I can tell he’s still thinking of Jenzy he’s let her go a bit too.

My phone buzzed and I stopped to check it.

  It was Moses,

“Hey Baby Girl, headed your way now. Got the takeout and a freaky ass movie.”

  I laughed then typed back,

  “Don’t worry, I’ll protect you.”

  He came back,

“Woman, don’t even. You’ll be under me faster than the speed of light when the first ghost shows up.”

  I rolled my eyes,

“It’s only when they jump out.”

He took a second then wrote,

“It’s all good, I like to protect you anyway.”

Ugh! Gotta catch myself. Can’t read into things. But then I flirted to see what might happen.

“Oh yay, the big strong man to protect me and the mighty bloodhound. My girlish heart is faint with flutters. All hail the dragon slayer.”

Okay so that was more sarcasm than flirting but there was a drop of flirting in there.

  He replied,

“I only vanquish goblins, ghouls, evil villains and banshees. Dragons I only slay for girlfriends. Disclaimer: dragons suitable for slaying must be very, very bad since I myself, am a dragon lover. Therefore they must eat people and be fans of boy bands.”

I felt a little let down by the reference to girlfriends and admitted defeat to myself. Then I sent,

“Well, thank goodness I’m not flanked by dragons then.”

I put my phone down and started toward the pole when my phone buzzed. I went back and read what he wrote,

“I’ll treat you as my girlfriend for the night. So you can let me handle it. I brought my armor anyway.”

That warmed my heart a little. Isn’t that what he’s always done? Slay my dragons? Come through? Fight to be there? I’m suddenly very grateful to know him and even love him. Even if he has no clue.

  I wrote back,

“Then this night is special indeed.”

  He wrote,

“Whatever, I’ll fight them off always, not just

tonight. I’m three minutes away. Pulling out now.”

I sighed and put my phone up to finish dancing. Now it’s happy dancing. I’m remembering my promise to Brianna and thinking maybe tonight. Maybe I’ll tell him and see where we land. The feelings never go away and what if that means something?

I was mid spin when the doors to my studio buste
d open.

I looked to see Brandon storming in. I came down off the pole with a frown. “Brandon?”

“Chloe,” he came up and stopped in front of me, “I need to tell you something and…I realize how it’s going to sound.” He looked good but he looked determined. “I still have feelings for you, and I want this break over.”

I crossed my arms, “it wasn’t a break Brandon, it was a break-up.”

His brow creased, “no, it was never over for me. It was a fight. Couples have fights.”

“You called me a whore and came at me in my apartment. It’s very over and I’ve not thought of you at all.”

He stepped back, “then when my friend told me he saw you out with some guy a couple weeks ago, that was true? You’re cheating on me?”

I widened my eyes because now I think he’s a tad mental. “Yes, I was on a date. That happens when people are single. We weren’t together. I’ve never cheated in my life.”

“We weren’t over Chloe!” he shouted at me, “so if you fucked some guy it was cheating! I knew it!” He stormed away from me and dug his hands through his hair, “I knew dating a stripper would mean this was possible but I really believed you! Fuck!”

I wrinkled my nose, “you have a serious problem, but it’s not mine. I told you I don’t strip,” I walked away to the mirror where my towel and my water was on the floor.

He came up and the sound of him charging close made the hairs on my neck go up. As Moses would call it, the red flag. “Hey!” He shouted, “don’t mouth off at me! We were official, and we never said it was over! We-.”

I held my hands up, “hold it! We haven’t even spoken since mid-July. I am not your girlfriend and my personal life after we broke up is not your business.”
