Wet for the Alpha (The Ridge Brothers Bear Shifters Book 3) Page 7

by Olivia T. Turner

I have a thriving business in town that I love, a wonderful family with four beautiful little shifters, and a husband who still makes me blush with only one heated look.

I couldn’t have done any of this without Cash and I try to thank him every day.

His bear looks back at me as I sink into the warm water and float on my back once again. The hot summer sun is shining down on my face and there’s no place in the world I’d rather be.

Cash is watching me from the shoreline. Lovingly. Protectively. He’s always watching.

  Always loving.

  Always protecting.

  And he always will.

  Epilogue

  The Sheriff

  Back to the present…

I walk in the office and see my deputy all over my daughter. She’s sitting on her desk with her legs wrapped around him.

“Mm-hm.” I cough a little louder than necessary.

Damon leaps back with a gasp and turns to me with a guilty look on his face as Kinsley climbs down from the desk. She quickly fixes her dress and starts gathering papers and rambling. Her cheeks are as pink as the roses on her desk.

“We were just about to open the package from Reachton County,” she says with her voice racing.

“Uh-huh,” I say with a roll of my eyes. There was a time when seeing that would have thrown me into a murderous rage, but now it doesn’t even make me flinch.

Damon is my daughter’s mate, so what can I do? They belong together and standing in their way would do nothing but harm.

Besides, Damon treats her the way I want her to be treated so how can I complain? Men don’t get more loving and protective than him.

“So, what’s in the box?” I ask as I sit down at my desk. It’s a small town and we’re only two officers so the place isn’t huge. There are only three rooms in the station: one for our desks, one for the holding cell, which is currently empty, and one for the bathroom.

Kinsley opens the package and starts going through the mail from the neighboring town. It’s just over the mountains and about a forty-five-minute drive from here.

She pulls out some files and starts reading them. Her face suddenly drops. “There’s a missing girl…”

I cross my arms and let out a long breath. Probably just a girl who got sick of the small-town life and ran away with her boyfriend. It happens a lot in the small towns around here.

  “She’s only eighteen.”

My old bear doesn’t even react. There was a time when he would have gone nuts with every mention of a girl. He was desperate to find our mate back then.

  Now, he’s just given up.

  And so have I.

We’ve been alive on this spinning planet for fifty-two years and we haven’t found so much as a scent of her.

He just slinks down inside me and takes another disinterested nap as Kinsley walks over with the package.

“The Sheriff wants us to see if we can catch her scent.” She hands me a sealed pink sweater and I tear the plastic open.

It’s like breathing in fire and my eyes start watering as it burns my insides.

  It’s her.

  It has to be.

It’s a sweet burn that makes my old bear dart to attention. He immediately starts thrashing around and charging the surface, desperate to get out.

I tighten my body, flexing my muscles to hold the beast back. He’s an enormous polar bear and I can barely keep him from slipping through.

“Are you okay, dad?” Kinsley asks as she leans in with a worried look on her face.

I close my eyes and grip onto the armrests of the chair, trying to keep him in control. It’s like trying to hold down a T-Rex.

“Damon,” I hear Kinsley say in a panicked voice. “What’s happening to him?”

He knows, just like I know.

This is what he must have felt when he caught Kinsley’s scent. I can hardly blame him for going after her now. Not if it was like this.

“I think he’s finally found his mate,” he says to her.

My bear finally settles down enough for me to open my eyes. I relax my tight hands and find broken pieces of plastic in them. I crushed the armrests of my chair into pieces.

I’m staring at the pink sweater on my desk with my heart thundering in my chest.

  It’s her. It’s really her.

  But she’s missing.

She needs me more than ever.

I grab the file out of the box and quickly look it over.

Her picture floors me. It’s her high school picture. Probably senior year.

Blonde hair. The sweetest, most gentle eyes I’ve ever seen. She’s radiating innocence. Her shy smile sends all sorts of emotions slamming into me.

I don’t know how to handle any of this. I can barely breathe as I stare at her.

Kinsley is reading another file. I didn’t even realize she had taken it out of the box.

“Witnesses said she was kidnapped by four men on motorcycles,” she says.

My livid bear growls as I clench my jaw so hard it hurts.

I know I’ll find these men and I know I’ll kill them.

Each one of them. Slowly. Painfully. They’ll get what they deserve and more.

They stole her and they’ll die for that.

I just don’t know how I’ll give her back after.

I want to keep her all for myself.

My inner polar bear lets out a possessive roar.

All right, bear. I’ll share her with you too.

  The End!

Sheriff Peters and the Ridge brothers will return in Ripe for the Alpha.

It’s my first day as the new reporter covering New Zealand’s famous rugby team.

I’m an American who knows nothing about rugby, but after taking one step into the locker room after the game, I’m a huge fan.

These massive tough men are true alphas.

And there’s one who stands taller than the rest.

  Akea Saluni.

  The Samoan god.

Covered in tribal tattoos, this chiseled man has muscles for days.

He puts the moan in Samoan.

He makes the Rock look like a pebble.

He brings me to my knees.

And once this possessive man lays his dark eyes on me, that’s exactly where I’m going to stay…
