The other Gods had tried to persuade me to continue my crusade for justice elsewhere. Arrika was not the only continent on this world, but its people were my people, and I refused to abandon them, fearing what might happen in my absence. Those faraway lands would need to find a champion of their own, someone else to set their wrongs right. Keeping Arrika safe for my people, and now my daughter, was my only concern.
We stood together silently, Bane basking in the fading light as we watched the sun fall behind the spires of the Imperial City. I’d loved and lost over the years, and the pain of those losses would never leave me, but I had Líann and Bane with me, and soon our daughter would join us as well. That was more than enough to make it all worthwhile.
