And now he looked at the curly, blond-haired boy and his short-haired mother, he knew them too. Knew all of them.

And he knew exactly where he’d seen them before.

His heart raced. His mind spun. He tasted something sour in his mouth like he always did when he got scared. When he got confused. When he just couldn’t understand.

“You‌—‌” he found himself starting to say. “You‌—‌”

He didn’t get to say what he wanted to say‌—‌what he had to say‌—‌because the woman cut in for him.

“We fell,” she said. Tears rolled down her wrinkly cheeks. “We‌—‌we fell down the hole in the ground but we‌—‌we don’t understand. We don’t‌—‌we don’t…”

The rest of the woman’s words buzzed over Bob Whittaker’s mind as he opened up a new tab in his Internet browser and typed in “Preston Sinkers.”

  And there they were.

  Mary Cassidy.

  Mitch Warburton.

  Jonny Cassidy.

“We‌—‌we fell. We fell down the‌—‌down the hole‌—‌”

R.I.P. to the one hundred and fourteen who lost their lives in the sinkholes of April 20th 2013. May they rest in peace and never be forgotten.

Bob looked up. Looked up at the man’s ginger beard, the woman’s wrinkly forehead, the boy’s curly blond locks, all of them saying inaudible words, all three of them crying…

All three of them right there on that memorial screen.

  All three of them, Sinkers.

  About This Book

A GRIPPING SUSPENSE HORROR FROM THE AUTHOR OF DEAD DAYS.

On April 20th 2013, five devastating sinkholes stunned the sleepy city of Preston. None of the victims' bodies were recovered, and hundreds of families were left to grieve the loss of their loved ones.

Ashley Chester, a typical mid-twenties post-graduate, is one of those people. He watched his beautiful girlfriend Grace sink to her death, buried under miles of rubble, never to be found.

Until she turns up alive a year later.

With not a scratch on Grace's skin, nor any memory of her previous year, a stunned Ashley must deal with the suspicions of the police, the scepticism of the general public, and his girlfriend's growingly erratic behaviour, as he seeks to learn just what is going on.

But the more digging Ashley does and the more harrowing Grace's behaviour grows, the more he suspects something else at play.

Something much more shocking and sinister than any conspiracy...

From Ryan Casey, author of Dead Days and the Brian McDone series, Sinkers is a thrilling suspense horror packed with drama, mystery and twists.

The characters and events portrayed in this book are fictitious. Any similarity to real persons, living or dead, is coincidental and not intended by the author. Any reference to real locations is only for atmospheric effect, and in no way truly represents those locations.
