  Chapter 2

  Insults and Intrigue

“Shit, shit, shit,” Jericho said panicking as he instantly teleported into a large luxurious room. He looked around like a cornered animal while waiting for something to come out and kill him, nothing came. “Hello?”

  No answer.

He moved slowly through the room carefully checking for traps or anything else that’d kill him but nothing popped out. He looked around and in the middle of the largest room he saw a skeleton in a mage's robe with a giant set of claw marks through his back. Slowly, he gained confidence that he’d discovered Alistair Nightshade’s home and the corpse was Alistair Nightshade himself. He continued to look around.

There were books on the shelf, many of them were common books players could find at vendors. Jericho also noticed a few rare books and scrolls depicting magic he hadn’t seen before. The core magic in the game was elemental. All of the books players had access to related to fire, ice, earth, wind and their combinations.

“Mind, body, spirit, shadow, light, time, space,” Jericho said aloud while looking over the various scrolls. They were all pretty much gibberish suggesting that unlike elemental magic simply seeing the symbol didn’t quite cut it. It could also mean that players needed to have a certain skill level to comprehend it or complete a task. Either way, Jericho was going to grab all of them.

“Those don’t belong to you,” a chill shot up Jericho’s spine as he practically jumped out of his skin. He quickly reached for a potion of invisibility. “Don’t you dare! Turn around slowly and show your hands! If I sense a hint of magic, I’ll tear your head off. Jackass. Clod.”

“Okay,” Jericho said while slowly turning to see nothing. “Hello?”

“Down here,” the voice said. Jericho immediately looked down to see a spectral cat, bluish green with golden eyes. “What are you doing here? How did you get here? I’ve been here for ages and haven’t been able to leave. If you tell me how to leave, I may let you live. Bastard. Bumbler.”

“The stones,” Jericho started to answer. “I started to cast…”

“You’re a mage!” the cat yelled excitedly. “Wait a minute, you don’t look like a mage. And you’re so…weak. And where’s your familiar? Dolt. Twit.”

“Familiar?” Jericho asked confused. “What are you talking about.”

“I knew it!” The cat transformed into a giant spectral tiger and roared in my face. “How could I be so gullible? You’re not a mage at all! If you can’t help me get out of here there’s no point to you! Deceiver! Criminal!”

Jericho did the only thing he could think of and created the fastest fireball he’d ever created. It always took at least a few seconds to gather but in his moment of terror fight or flight kicked in and he reflexively summoned it in an instant.

“Slow!” the tiger roared smacking the fireball away, nearly taking his hand with it. “Is that the best you can do? That fool who summoned me into this realm was more powerful than that! How dare you call yourself a mage? Simpleton. Imbecile.”

“Wait,” Jericho objected realizing the claw marks on Alistair must have been the cats. “I am a mage.”

“Then why is your magic so weak? And where is your familiar?” the spectral tiger asked again while eying him suspiciously. “What kind of magic have you mastered? Nitwit. Dunce.”

“What do you mean by mastered?” he asked hoping to get as much information as he could. “I can cast magic involving fire, ice, earth, wind, and a few combinations of them.”

“What?” the tiger wasn’t angry as much as dejected. “You’ve only mastered four of the thirteen types? Dimwit. Stupid.”

“I wouldn’t say mastered,” Jericho started thinking of the scrolls he’d found but even those didn’t add up to thirteen. “And what do you mean by thirteen types?”

“Ridiculous,” the tiger said slowly shifting back to a small cat. “Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, Mind, Body, Spirit, Light, Dark, Time, Space, Life, Death. You only know of four of them? Feeble. Fool.”

“Until today I had no idea those others existed,” he answered honestly.

“Who was your master?” the cat asked angrily. “They should have taught you all of this. Moron. Incompetent.”

“Master?” Jericho asked while raising his eyebrows. He’d never come across a single NPC that offered to teach magic and he’d met quite a few.

“Are you saying you have no master?” the cat asked, clearly getting more frustrated by the minute. “You can’t be serious. Then how have you been learning magic? Idiot. Dolt.”

“Books,” he answered. “Can you clarify what you mean by masters?”

“No!” the cat said angrily. “I mean masters. A master is a master. This isn’t good at all. The portal only opens with elemental magic and I am only able to perform spirit magic. But if I become your familiar then I’ll be the familiar of a weak mage who hasn’t mastered a single school! This isn’t good at all. Unfit. Inept.”

“Wait,” Jericho said. “What do you mean my familiar?”

“The mage summoned me and I didn’t care for him, so I killed him. Unfortunately, his portal only responds to elemental magic. So, I cannot leave this place with spirit magic,” the cat said. “But a familiar can go wherever their master goes. If I become your familiar, I may be able to leave. But I can’t be bound to a novice. An incompetent inept idiot. I want a mage, not a fool. Cretin. Jackass.”

“Okay,” Jericho said angrily. “Do you have Tourette’s or something? Can you stop calling names?”

“I can,” the cat sat down and cleaned its spectral paw. “I won’t. Donkey. Numbskull.”

“Fine. Why makes you think I want you as a familiar?” Jericho asked still frustrated. “What does a familiar even do?”

“A familiar helps you,” the cat watched Jericho like he was a mouse. “I know what you cannot. I open doors you cannot. I unlock secrets you cannot. Ass. Prig.”

“A riddle,” he threw his hands in the air. He was torn between excited, frustrated, and annoyed. Excited that he was learning so much, frustrated at how confusing it was, and annoyed by the cat. “Just great”

“It’s not a riddle,” the cat stared. “It’s an answer. You’re even dumber than I thought so let me use very small and simple words. A familiar unlocks powerful magic. Simple enough? Prick. Dickhead.”

“Are you actually getting ruder?” Jericho groaned. “Fine. So, if I take you as my familiar, I’ll become stronger. How?”

“That fireball,” Jericho could swear the cat smiled for a moment but knew it must be in his head. “It was slow. It was slow because you’re thinking of words instead of feeling the magic. Elemental magic utilizes your magical pathways. You need to expand them, compress them, reshape them, work them, make them flexible but powerful. Push them until they’re near breaking and then push them further. Idiot. Moron.”

“You already used those insults,” he sighed. “You’re saying they’re muscles? That doesn’t really help. How do you work them out? How do you stretch them? Compress them?”

“You fill them with feeling!” the cat groaned. “The words teach you the shape and forms but you must fill those forms with love, laughter, or rage until they’re ready to burst, then release. Like you’re swinging a sword wildly with all of your might!”

“Shit,” he said realizing I was really going to have to take this asshole cat. “What’s your name?”

“Jinx,” the cat answered. “What’s yours? Dolt. Clown.”

“Jericho,” he sighed. “Okay, how do we do this Jinx?”

“First thing’s first, touch my head with your hand and think about us becoming the same person,” Jinx stepped forward and offered up their head. “Think carefully and feel your magic, feel my magic, then feel them mixing. Buffoon. Stooge.”

“What?” Jericho asked confused. “I don’t understand.”

“Spirit magic idiot!” the spectral cat enlarged about halfway to its tiger form before settling again. “You need to bind
to a familiar and I’m a spirit. Spirit magic will ensure we’re connected. So, pet my head and think about our spirits merging.”

“Fine,” he said eager to learn more while simultaneously dreading being bound to the asshole cat. He closed his eyes and imagined his spirit and the cats merging while placing his hand on its head. Nothing happened.

“That’s not right!” the cat said angrily pulling away. “You’re simply trying to feel your magic! You’re not using your spirit and you’re not touching mine or combing them! Do it right! Boob! Birdbrain! Rodent! Flea!”

“Fuck,” Jericho let out a frustrated sigh before scanning the room for anything that might actually be useful. “Is there anything in here that’ll help? I don’t know spirit magic so I don’t understand what you’re saying. If I concentrate on magic I’m thinking of fire or water welling up inside of me.”

“Fine!” the cat said frustrated. “We’ll do it the other way! Lunk. Boor.”

“Other way?” Jericho was relieved because he was fairly certain he wasn’t going to get the concept of spirit magic. “What’s that?”

“Stand back,” the spectral cat began growing again to its full tiger form but this time much larger than before. Jericho backed up quickly to a corner of the room as the tiger continued to envelop everything. Right before reaching Jericho the bluish green spirit began to dissipate and standing in the center of the room was a tan young woman, completely naked.

Her eyes shined the brightest gold and her pupils were those of a cat. Her dark mid-length hair framed her youthful face. She was short, probably about five-two or five-three which in a world where almost everybody chooses to be over six feet tall, was an anomaly. Her frame was slender and while Jericho didn’t know the size of her chest exactly, it was certainly more than a handful.

“What are you staring at? Lamebrain. Dummy.” The girl said as Jericho’s eyes couldn’t help but gravitate downward to her perfectly shaved pussy and the pink slit peeking out. Jinx smiled while standing there posing with her hands on her hips like a superhero.

“Jinx?” Jericho said just to be sure. “You’re a woman.”

“And?” she said stepping forward confidently. “You have a problem with that? Pig. Ignoramus.”

“No,” he said eying her lecherously as thoughts of what constituted binding filled his head. Jericho noticed her arms and legs were covered in pale untanned stripes like those on a cat. He looked for cat ears and a tail but unfortunately neither existed. “So, what now?”

“Do you wish to bind?” she asked with eyes that suggested saying anything other than yes would have dire consequences. “Coward. Clod.”

“Yeah,” Jericho said as Jinx stepped forward with a wide smile. In an instant, she burned off his expensive suit in blue flames leaving him nude. Immediately Jinx leaned in and began licking his chest before stepping on her tiptoes to reach his nipples and biting. “Shit.”

“Don’t whine,” She reached down and grabbed Jericho’s cock tightly in her grip and began squeezing. “Understand? Weakling. Buffoon.”

“Yeah,” Jericho groaned as she slowly stroked his shaft getting it harder. “You just surprised me, that’s all.”

“You understand what we’re doing?” Jinx's eyes sent a chill through his body. They were the eyes of a starving beast looking to devour the first thing it saw. “An unbreakable bond. Halfwit. Degenerate.”

“Oh,” Jericho smiled while wrapping his arms around her and running his hands up and down her back. “I am fairly certain of what we’re doing.”

“Good,” she said gripping his cock while continuing to lick and bite him, alternating between painful and pleasurable sensations. “Beast. Fiend.”

His cock was twitching out of control as she began clawing him with her free hand only to end up licking the spots she clawed as if attempting to comfort him. Shivers of warmth shot through his body as each lap of her tongue made its way across his skin, gradually getting lower. The excitement was killing him.

“Fuck,” he groaned out as Jinx reached his cock and began licking down the side. Her teeth gripped a bit of flesh between them and Jericho panicked for a moment before she released it. The tease caused a shot of adrenaline to shoot through him, heightening his sensitivity and exciting him further. “Holy shit.”

She looked up at him with angry eyes while taking in the tip of his cock, sending a tremor through his entire body as she began passionately tonguing his tip. With her free hand, she began exploring her body, slowly working its way down to her dripping pussy as she continued to stroke and suck on Jericho’s large cock.

Jericho moaned as she began taking his large cock deeper until he felt the resistance of the back of her throat. She pulled off for a moment and caught her breath before diving back in and forcing herself to take it deeper until he felt himself in her throat.

“Fuck that feels good,” Jericho moaned approvingly as he reflexively reached for her head and began guiding her pace as he fucked her mouth. “I’m going to cum.”

“Mmfm,” she let out a muffled groan as Jericho’s cock began pulsing in her mouth. He began releasing down her throat. He looked down to see her staring at him angrily as her throat gulped, swallowing every spurt of cum into her belly. He continued to release for what seemed like forever before finally pulling out. “Idiot! Fool! Moron! It needs to be in my pussy! Bastard! Incompetent! Boob!”

“You should have told me,” Jericho said defiantly as Jinx stood up. Just the thought of thrusting his thick cock into her small body kept him hard. He grabbed her by the shoulders and turned around forcibly and aligned his cock with her pussy. He saw the juices from her pussy were flowing halfway down her legs, “For having such a piss-poor attitude you certainly are an eager little cunt.”

“Oof!” Jinx let out a grunt as Jericho easily slid his large cock into her tiny pussy, stretching it to the limit in the process. He slowly thrust a few times to lubricate himself in her juices. Finally, deciding he was ready he grabbed her arms at the elbows forcing her to arch upward and stood, lifting her off the ground as she sat helplessly on his cock. “It has to be inside. Rake. Lech.”

“I planned on it,” Jericho growled before lifting the lightweight woman by her arms, letting her drop slightly as he thrust inside of her. With each motion, she let out new guttural sounds as if he rapidly broke her down.

Her pussy was so slick and tight that he knew he wasn’t going to last very long. Her head jerked back and forth in front of him with each thrust and each stroke of his cock brought him closer to climax. Then she came, a warm feeling swallowed his cock as her pussy clenched down on it like a vice. He couldn’t contain himself and began releasing inside of her, each throb of his cock followed by the tightening of her pussy as if she were milking every bit of cum from him.

“Yesss,” she hissed out in ecstasy as Jericho pulled back on her arms and buried his face into her neck. “So good. Moron. Jerk.”

“So fucking good,” Jericho panted out while gently lowering her to the floor and pulling out. As soon as he did, she collapsed. She laid smiling on the floor panting as cum dripped out of her tight pussy. Her body shivered sporadically. “Wow. Now what?”

“I’m cold,” she grumbled. Jericho looked around and grabbed a blanket from a chair and draped it over her. “Good. Idiot. Imbecile.”

“You really have the worst attitude,” Jericho laughed while taking a seat on the chair and searching his inventory for a spare set of clothing to put on. He opted for plain black trousers and a white peasants shirt just in case she wanted to burn another expensive set. “Any way to fix that attitude?”

“Mm-Mm,” she answered while shaking her head. “I like it. Brute. Lout.”

“Alright then,” Jericho sighed. “I suppose I’ll have to get used to it since we’re bound now, huh?”

“We’re not bound yet. Goon. Lummox.”

“What?” Jericho shot to his feet. “So, what was all that for?”

  “I was hungry,” Jinx grinn
ed. “I feed on spirit energy and sex provides it. We bind with a kiss. Cad. Rube.”

“It’s that easy?” he laughed at how ridiculous and awesome it all was. It was pretty rare for NPCs to initiate sexually, players could chase the NPC’s but it rarely happened the other way around. It was even rarer for them to become followers. A few players who attained noble ranks had followers and could recruit NPCs to their causes but they were the most powerful players in the game. Even having one follower put you in the top ten percent of players. “Alright.”

Jericho got down on the ground next to Jinx who was staring at him lovingly despite her endless barrage of insults. He grabbed her chin and pulled her toward him before meeting her lips and slipping his tongue in her mouth.

A torrent of feelings and knowledge inundated him and immediately he understood spirit magic and why his magic didn’t work previously. Spirit magic didn’t begin or end inside of him, but he was encompassed by his spirit. He could touch her spirit with his, invade her spirit with his, and he began wondering how to use it.

“That’s why you can’t learn it from a scroll,” Jericho laughed as he pulled away. He was finally starting to realize why magic was so hard. “It’s like describing a color! You need to see it to really understand.”

“No,” Jinx giggled. “You’re just stupid. Barbarian. Churl.”

“Funny,” he said while surprising her by pulling her close to cuddle. “It’s nothing like elemental magic. Elemental magic clearly begins inside of me…”

“Feelings,” Jinx interrupted. “Any feeling can fill a magical pathway with power and then you release that power. If you release in the fire path, you can perform fire spells you’ve learned. If you fill and release multiple paths, you can perform a wide variety. But that’s all I know about elemental magic. I’m a master of spirit magic. Spirit magic requires you to manipulate and shape your existing spirit. Ogre. Pest.”
