He placed her on her back on the edge of the bed and angled her legs so her feet were on the bed as well. That meant she was wide open to his perusal. “Damn, you are mighty fine,” he said as he looked his fill.

But turnabout was fair play, and she was checking him out just as much. His body was made up of leanly built muscle and she could probably spend days running her hands over all of his ridges, checking every inch of him out.

  “Condom.”

That spurred him to action and he went over to her nightstand. She’d forgotten she’d put her vibrator in there just out in the open rather than back in its case. He pulled it out along with a condom.

“Is this what you’ve been using to take care of yourself?”

  Amanda nodded.

“We might have to think of some creative ways to use this in our play time.”

Another wave of arousal hit her as she began imagining just that.

He came back around and stood in front of her, his cock already sheathed.

“Do you want it slow or fast? Hard or soft?”

“Right now? I want it hard and fast.”

  “Hang on tight.”

Nick lifted her legs so she could put them around his waist as he lined up her entrance with his shaft. He entered her in one smooth thrust. The invasion set off a climax immediately. Her clit was pressed tight against his flesh and her vagina walls spasmed as they tried to compensate for his size and entry. He held still as she pulsed around him, his face tight with the effort.

Once she’d stopped with the internal quakes he’d set off, she said, “I’m good now. You can move. Please move.”

He pulled out and pushed back in, the force of his thrust once again hitting her clit. He repeated the motion, but changed the angle of how he was holding her hips, making it deeper. Not only did he hit her clit, he also hit a spot deep inside that had her coming again in an instant. This time, he came with her.

He collapsed to the side, his softening cock easily slipping from her folds, and pulled her to him, her back to his chest, his arms encircling her waist.

When she could breathe again, she could only think of one word, “Wow.”

“Wow is right, woman. You were squeezing me like a vise grip.”

  “Um…sorry?”

She felt his head shake. “No you’re not. Don’t even try that.”

She turned in his arms so she could look at him.

“You’re supposed to have all sorts of stamina, seeing as how you’re younger than me.”

Nick kissed the tip of her nose. “I’ve got plenty of stamina. But you being older means you’re getting closer and closer to your sexual peak, while I’m moving farther and farther away from mine.”

Amanda snorted a laugh and buried her face in his chest.

“You were definitely preferring it fast and hard tonight.”

She leaned away so she could see his face and raised her eyebrow at him.

  “I’m just saying.”

She wondered again how she could have possibly wasted so much freaking time when she could’ve found him much earlier in life.

  “What are you thinking about?”

“You. And why I didn’t come back sooner. And how you learned to do all these things with women and learned your way around the female body.”

“Eh, the past isn’t all that important except where we’re concerned. And as for that, I’m looking forward to figuring out our future.”

  Sounded good to her, too.

  Buying Adam

  Marianne Stephens

  Chapter 1

“Whose crazy idea was this?” growled Adam Samson, CEO of Samson Enterprises, as he entered his mother’s office.

Eleanor Samson raised her eyebrows as she returned her son’s stare. His mother would not back down from a challenge. She’d had plenty of practice fighting with Adam’s stubborn father and then their two equally stubborn sons.

“You weren’t here. It’ll be good publicity for us. Lord knows that after your brother’s latest debacle, we need to do some damage control and present a redeeming quality image for the company.” She gestured to her left. “Where are your manners? Say hello to Jessica.”

Adam quickly turned his head to the left and saw Jessica McCall sitting on the sofa. He cleared his throat before speaking, “Sorry. I didn’t see you there. Hello, Jessica.”

She nodded and added a slight smile. For a split second, Adam wanted to walk over to her, sit, and relax next to her. Talking to Jessica had always been a pleasure.

He soon remembered his reason for storming into his mother’s office, and returned his gaze to her. “Maybe Jessica should leave so we can talk.”

Eleanor waved her hand as if to dismiss his idea. “Nonsense. Jessica knows about the auction, and she knows how important it is for us to divert attention from Barry. We need an image boost.”

Adam strolled across the office to the door, gently closed it, and turned toward his mother. “Fine. But there’s no need to involve everyone in this, Mom. Barry created that mess, so let him be auctioned off. There’s no way I want any part in this ‘Eligible Bachelor Charity Auction’.”

Eleanor sighed as she pointed to a cushioned chair near her desk. “Please sit down and listen. I can’t talk while you’re moving around the room.”

Controlling an urge to flatly refuse any request she made, Adam nodded his head in agreement and sat opposite her across her cherry desk. “Mom, I just got back from three weeks of negotiating our newest contract with sponsors overseas. I’m tired. I came in today to take care of any important business.” He lifted the brochure held tightly in his hand. “And, what do I find? A ‘Bachelor Auction’ brochure featuring me as the main event.” He flung the offending paper onto the desk.

Eleanor sniffed, and remained ramrod straight in her chair. “I’d planned to tell you myself before you saw that. We’ve already cleared your calendar so you’ll have nothing to worry about.” She shrugged. “My intention was to soften you up with dinner tonight, and break the news to you. I had no idea you’d invade your office so soon.”

Adam leaned forward and rested both arms on the desk. “Barry needs to redeem himself. I’m through cleaning up his messes.”

His mother’s eyes glistened. Had he gone too far in defying her? Perhaps he was being too harsh and needed to take out his anger on his younger, idiot brother.

Eleanor shifted in her seat. “Adam, I’m not one to beg. I don’t think I ask too much from you.” She lowered her head. “Please, do this for me,” she said in a shaky voice.

Elegantly dressed and a woman who possessed savvy business techniques, she suddenly morphed before his eyes into just “Mom”, the woman who practically raised him and Barry alone. His father was “all business”, leaving him little time for his sons. His mother had worked hard at making sure she was always there for them. Looking at her now, he noticed the gray hairs mingling with dark ones and wrinkles on her face, creating a worn, tired countenance.

Adam softened his tone. “Why can’t Barry be involved?”

  “Because the mayor’s daug
hter is pregnant. It’s enough that your brother cheated on his wife with that girl and now she’s pregnant. Lisa filed for divorce and Mayor Johnson thinks Barry should marry Megan.” She slumped in her chair. “I think he will, but we can’t have his name headlined in all the papers and news programs...again.”

“Damn. I didn’t know all of this. ” Adam eased back in his seat.

“No, we didn’t tell you. You had too much to do with your trip.”

Adam gulped and picked up the brochure. Ten bachelors would be auctioned off for charity, and agree to play escort for their winning bidder for a weekend. The men were listed, and photos shown. Adam’s was the largest photo since he was the “main event” for the auction.

He gave a sigh of resignation. “What am I supposed to do on this weekend?”

Eleanor gave a smile and sat up straight. “Just what it says. Escort your winner to dinner, concerts, shopping, whatever she chooses. She pays for it all. You just show up. You’ll be ‘eye candy’...someone she can brag about having by her side for the weekend.”

Adam read through the brochure for more details. “Says here the bidder has to be at least 21. So, I can expect my ‘date’ to be anywhere between 21 and 90?” He placed the brochure on her desk.

Eleanor laughed. “Don’t dismiss older women. You may find someone twice your age can still be fun to be with. Or, you could end up with a giggling college student, using her parents’ money just for a chance to have you as an escort.”

Adam rubbed his hand through his hair. “Great. Just how I wanted to spend the weekend. What if I had plans? Did you consider that?”

“You mentioned going to the campsite alone once you returned. Something about ‘getting some peace and quiet’ after your trip. Am I wrong?”

“I don’t see where I have the option to say no. My big concern is Angela.” He pointed at the brochure. “She’s running this auction. She could bid on me and make that weekend one giant miserable time.” He rubbed his temples.

“Surely she wouldn’t see this as an invitation to seek revenge?”

It was Adam’s turn to laugh. “You really don’t know her. I bet she’s counting her trust fund money as we speak and planning how she’ll torture me by winning.”

“No, I think she’s over you. She’s got Wilson Bennett’s son and all his money to keep her amused.”

“You’re too trusting. She’ll worm her way into this.”

Eleanor rose. “I need to leave for a lunch engagement. I’m sure you’re worried over nothing. Thanks for doing this.” She smiled and headed for the door.

Adam followed after her. “Are you still feeding me tonight? I counted on your lasagna for dinner.”

“Of course.” She patted her son’s cheek. “Wouldn’t want you to miss a home-cooked meal and go hungry.”

Adam kissed his mother’s cheek and then turned toward the sofa. “Bye, Jessica.” He was rewarded by her quick smile before exiting the office.

Shit. He’d agreed to be sold to the highest bidder. And whoever won could be an airhead young thing or a grandmother in orthopedic shoes.

In somewhat of a jet-lagged daze, he strolled through the hallways to his office, entered, and closed the door before dropping into his chair. Adam scanned the papers on his desk and checked his email. Nothing registered in his brain. All he could think about was being “sold” the next night. He let out a deep exhale.

One thing made him smile. At least he’d get fed a great meal at his mother’s house. And, one more redeeming reward of his visit to his mother’s office was running into Jessica.

Even sitting in a shadowed section of his mother’s office...and with a businesslike image she tried to portray...there was no hiding the wonderful female qualities Jessica possessed. Intelligence was front and center. Beauty was well-hidden under her no-nonsense work façade.

Adam sank back into his chair and recalled images of Jessica from his daily runs through the building. From the tight bun holding her auburn hair severely and neatly to the back of her head, to the unflattering dark-framed glasses trying desperately to deflect attention from her deep, blue eyes, and her constant wardrobe of business suits, always buttoned to perfection, Jessica did an amazing job of covering the beautiful woman acting as his mother’s 9-to-5, Monday through Friday secretary/assistant.

What did she look like at home? On the weekends? On dates?

Idiot. She’d made it clear that business and work were all she was interested in. She’d refused his lunch invitations, even ones that included his mother. In short order, he realized Jessica had no interest in being in his company beyond strict work hours. Period.

A knock on his door interrupted his thoughts. “Come in.”

Jessica opened the door and walked in with a bright smile in his direction. “You forgot your brochure.” She held out her hand.

Surprise registered in his brain as the woman he’d just fantasized about materialized in his office. Adam managed to remember his manners and motioned to the chair near his. “Hey. Have a seat. I just want to go over a few things. My mother said ‘we’ve cleared your calendar’, and since my assistant is on maternity leave, I assume she means you helped. I’m wondering if there’s anything that I might have to do before this auction fiasco.”

Her graceful movements toward Adam caught his attention. The swivel of her hips and the slight bounce in her steps gained his full scrutiny. The functional dark blue suit, and white top peeking out, didn’t stop his gaze from momentarily focusing on her breasts, neatly and securely encased in the material covering them. A slight flutter of her white top was visible at the “V” of her jacket as her breasts moved under a sea of blue.

She sat and returned his stare. “Is something wrong?”

Adam cleared his brain and sought for something normal to say. “No. I’m tired and running on European time. Can’t sleep on planes.”

A slight tinge of red rushed up her cheeks. The blush added color to her face, and animated her appealing countenance.

“I—I left a few notes of items that can be quickly taken care of, Mr. Samson. I’m here to help with anything you need.”

He rocked back in his leather chair. “I take it my mother planned all this as soon as I left?”

She shrugged. “I don’t know. I found out last night. I had to clear your calendar and re-schedule weekend meetings. I just followed orders.”

“Yeah, my mother owns a few percentage points more of the company than my brother or I do. So, she’s the head boss.” He laughed, partly from jet-lag and recognized that he could never refuse his mother anything.

“Go to lunch,” he said. “When you get back we’ll go over everything I’ve got to cram into the rest of the day. Seems the upcoming long weekend will be spent other than how I’d hoped.” He frowned. “Ever been to one of these auctions?”

She widened her gorgeous eyes and answered, “Uh, no. I understand they can cost thousands of dollars. And the entry fee just to get in is quite expensive.”

“I just hope this works out. Being with someone you don’t know…or don’t like…would be a disaster.”

“It might be fun. And it’s for a good cause.”

Her voice sounded uncertain, and Adam knew she was trying to ease his misgivings. “You always know what to say. Thanks for reminding me. This charity is my mother’s favorite and I’m happy to support it.” He winked. “I just wish I could write a check and not have to participate.”

Jessica laughed and Adam noted the slight thrilling tone he’d heard before whenever she forgot her “all-business” control. A brilliant smile always accompanied her laughter, one that lit up her face and highlighted her beautiful features.

“I think you’ll do fine. There should be lots of women bidding on you since you’re the featured event.”

He stood and so did Jessica. After circling the desk to get closer to her, Adam extended his hand. “Thanks for everything.” Jessica placed her hand in his, and he reveled in the warmth spa
rking between them. On only a few rare occasions, he’d had the opportunity to touch her, and he’d always experienced the same reaction. Heat. Warmth. Softness. All those led his hormones to trigger thoughts of lust. Passion. Fire.

There was more to Jessica McCall than met the eye.

Controlled sanity escaped for a brief moment, and all he could concentrate on was the woman whose hand was in his grip. In one quick movement, he pulled her toward him and sought her lips.

  *****

Jessica offered no resistance. She melted into Adam’s embrace and kissed him back.

I want this. Jessica had no wish to resist. The minute his hand touched hers, an electric spark careened throughout her body. From the top of her head to the tip of her toes, a raw, lusty hunger jump-started her hormones. The feel of his skin on hers sent a wave of passionate desire rushing through her body, one she’d always kept in tight control.

Heavenly. Heated passion shot through her. Lost in thoughts of lust and enjoying the feel of a man’s arms around her again, she wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him closer.

Heavy breathing and moans filled the air. Was it hers? His?

For a few precious seconds neither moved, until Adam broke their contact and stepped back. Fantasy gave into sanity and reason, and she stepped back to put space between them.

“I’m sorry, Jessica.” A confused look masked his face. “I had no right to take advantage of you.”

Seeking a way out for both of them, she offered, “I think you’re still jet-lagged. No apology needed. I’m also to blame.” She frowned. “Let’s forget this. We have plenty to do, Mr. Samson.”

Jessica displayed her business-only countenance, attempting to set a distance between them. Fantasy and real life were two different things.

His stare sought her soul, one she’d tried to keep hidden and carefully out of range. Adam would be the heartbreaker she didn’t need.
