Curves Page 8

We scooted under the covers together, touching, kissing, and me saying everything that came to mind. Somehow, our bodies were soon entangled again, my pussy rubbing against her mouth and tongue, while I wrapped my arms around her thighs and ate her out thoroughly. This time, we clung to each other through our mutual orgasms, our bodies shaking as one.

It was a long time before our moans, wails, and screams subsided into Sara’s gentle snoring. I watched her as she slept and ran my hand over her curls. What an amazing sight. There hadn’t been a woman in this bed with me in a long time. Women didn’t stay overnight here.

  Until now.

  Chapter Nine

  Sara

“I can’t believe you can cook. No one in New York City cooks.” As I sat there, waiting for our brunch, I also couldn’t believe we finally made it out of bed. My limbs were weak and I was happier than I’d been in a long time. Too happy. I shoved away the nagging doubt that something would grab this away from me at any moment.

Instead, I chose to dwell in the sense of liberation and excitement still rushing through me. No one had ever made me as comfortable in my own skin as Dylan did. She’d worshipped me from head to toe, and back again, and then dominated me with demands to do the same for her. Without even realizing it, she’d brought every single one of my fantasies to life in just one night. No woman would be able to do that for me ever again.

“Someone has to cook or none of us would eat,” she pointed out. “I try to have at least some life skills. By the way, I think Jennifer’s waxer did a fine job down there. I’m sure it feels better, by now.”

It felt more than better after hours of her expert sexual attention. I could learn to love the pain of a Brazilian for the night of pleasure that followed.

Dylan placed two plates piled high with food on the table and I stared in shock. She’d served scrambled eggs with chopped bell peppers, home fries, and bacon, along with two rectangles of buttered toast. I gave Dylan a mock-glare when she sat across from me.

  “Why are you so perfect?”

She shrugged and picked up her fork. “Because I hate being compared to anyone else. If New Yorkers only know how to order take-out, then I don’t want to live down to the stereotype. Or any stereotype.”

I blew out a breath. Goodness knew she’d shattered my stereotypes about her: terminal bachelorette, playgirl, all about getting another notch on her bedpost. She’d given me an incredible night. I hadn’t expected Dylan to make the sex all about me, but she did just that. Even when she was on top of me while I ate her out, demanding I pleasure her, it felt like she was the one doing all the giving.

Women like Dylan didn’t put themselves in a vulnerable position like that. Maybe they did and masked it as dominance, but with her the mask had slipped. I saw everything, and she didn’t seem afraid to share it. My body sagged with contentment and I knew I needed to fuel up if I was going to make it home later.

The silence between us wasn’t awkward as we ate, but sweet. Every so often, we would exchange a glance. I couldn’t stop myself from giggling a couple times. This was ridiculous in the best possible way.

When the plates were in the dishwasher, she stretched and said, “I’m going to shower.”

“That sounds like a good idea.” I watched her go, her form even more appealing in the boxer shorts and tank top she wore, and then looked down at my own body. Dylan had been nice enough to give me a comfortable, oversized baseball jersey. Of course she was a Yankees fan. I wouldn’t expect anything less.

I dipped my chin to my shoulder and tried sniffing at the shirt. Did it smell like her? What laundry detergent did she use? I wanted to take those smells with me when I left.

The minute I was alone, however, someone knocked on the door. Before I could decide what to do, Eve and Paige strode into the apartment, one after the other. Eve stopped, keys dangling from her index finger, and pointed at me.

“Oh yeah, I knew it would happen!” she squawked. “I knew it! Paige, you owe me.”

Paige shook her head, but her gaze never left the phone in her hand. “Sure I do, sweetie. Leave her alone. She’s already broken enough rules by sleeping with the enemy. Don’t make it worse.”

I stared at her. The reminder that Dylan and I worked for rival magazines was more effective than a cold shower. I shouldn’t be here and that was just one of the many reasons why.

“Rules were made to be broken,” Eve scoffed. “Didn’t I tell you this would happen? Dylan is the queen of the lesbians. No woman can resist her. I bow to her superiority.”

Paige rolled her eyes, her expression telling me she’d lost all patience. Probably not just with Eve, but me, as well. I shouldn’t have been here. Or they shouldn’t be here. I couldn’t decide at this point.

“Yes, she’s the queen of lesbians and the rest of us are her little minions. You’re right, as always.” Exasperation permeated her words, but it seemed like a strategic decision on her part, placating Eve to save all of us from further embarrassment.

It gave me the opportunity to flee into Dylan’s bedroom and poke my head into the bathroom. I could see her through the clear glass door of the shower, her lithe body turning so she could face me. Her hands were in her hair, shampooing it. A lump filled my throat, but I swallowed and dragged my attention back to the reason I’d come in here in the first place.

“You have guests,” I told her over the sound of the running shower.

“Let me guess – Eve and Paige. I never should have let Eve house sit for me, but she’s the only person I’ve ever trusted with a key.”

I nodded to confirm her guess and trailed my eyes along her body. Her narrow waist was the opposite of my thicker, curvier form. So tall and slender, that she looked almost breakable. Yet there was strength in everything she did. It was the kind of strength I wished I could have.

Stripping off the baseball jersey to reveal my shorter, stockier form was an easy decision. It meant I could join her under the spray of hot water and be close to her again. Never mind that two of our friends were out there, waiting to cause trouble. I had Dylan and that was all that mattered.

Dylan’s gaze lit up when I stepped into the shower and she pulled me to her. The water cascaded over both of our bodies and I leaned into her embrace.

“Paige is really irritated. You should rein Eve in, if you can,” I told her.

“Can’t I rein you in, first?” She kissed the top of my head. I wanted to say yes, but a high-pitched giggle made us both turn our gazes toward the bathroom door. “She’s in here, isn’t she?” Dylan grumbled.

“Apparently. I guess closed doors don’t mean anything to friends.” Disentangling myself from her warm embrace was the last thing I wanted to do, but it sounded like our privacy was long gone.

Dylan stepped out and wrapped a towel around herself. As soon as she closed the bathroom door, I washed my face and body. Her shampoo wasn’t good for curly hair, so I made a face at it and turned off the water. There was time to give my curls the proper treatment they deserved when I got home. For now, I still had to answer to Paige.

When I opened the door to Dylan’s bedroom, I was relieved to find it empty. I shimmied back into my dress, but stuffed my underthings in my purse. It’d been a long, long time since I’d had a proper walk of shame. This got to be that momentous occasion. No doubt Jennifer would want to celebrate when I got home.

I stepped into the hall slowly and peeked around the corner. The entire apartment was quiet. Until Paige said, “You can come out, now. They’re gone.”

When I entered the living room, I found Paige on the couch, the ever-present cell phone in her hands. Her eyes, however, went to mine. I wished I could interpret the look, but she was the master of the poker face. My stomach sank and I perched on the edge of the recliner across from her.

“Seriously, don’t look so scared, Sara. We just need to talk about what you’ve gotten yourself into.” She finally set that damn phone aside and laced her fingers together across
one knee. “You’re falling for her and I’m pretty sure she’s falling for you, too. I’m not going to get in the way of things. She seems, I don’t know, different somehow. I just want to make sure the both of you really know what you’re getting into.”

Absorbing her words took a few minutes, but I swallowed and nodded. “Yeah. She works for the most feared editor-in-chief in the entire fashion magazine industry and I work, well, for the wrong side.”

“Exactly. Plus, there’s your pasts. You’ve been cheated on and Dylan loves to screw around with anyone she wants. She’s never been a one-woman girl. I’m not sure you can handle having a girlfriend like that. Not saying she can’t change, but that her past is everywhere you look, walking on the streets of Manhattan.”

I gave her another nod. “Which is why I didn’t make it easy for her. I did want her for just sex, like everyone else, but I also know I’m the kind of person who gets emotionally involved. So I made her wait.”

Paige cocked her eyebrow. “Good for you, but Dylan is a woman who loves a challenge. My fear is that now that she’s overcome this challenge, she’ll get bored and move on. That wouldn’t be your fault, of course. It’d be hers. I don’t think that’s what’s going to happen, though. Like I said, it’s just a fear on your behalf.”

I didn’t know if it was sweet of Paige to feel that way or presumptuous, but I tightened my jaw and eased back into the chair. “Where did they go?”

“Just for some of that fancy coffee all of us like so much. They’ll be back any minute.” Paige scrutinized me and seemed to come to a conclusion. “Whatever you do, don’t tell anyone you work with about this. Let things unfold in their own time.”

I tried to understand what she was really telling me, if there was something deeper under those words. But that seemed to be all there was to it. “Trust me, that’s exactly what I’ve been doing,” I told her.

“I see that, but it’s Dylan I worry about. If she’s fallen for you, it’s going to be hard and there won’t be any taking it back. She’s never had people in her life she can rely on, except in a professional context. Once she sees how amazing you are – the peanut butter to her jelly, or whatever – you need to be ready for how much she’ll love you.”

The idea of Dylan loving anyone didn’t register with me. Maybe because in the back of my mind, I still thought this was just playtime for her. Sort of a break from picking up easy women. Falling hard wasn’t supposed to be in the cards for either of us.

But Paige, the most pessimistic person I knew, seemed to think otherwise.

  Chapter Ten

  Dylan

As soon as I returned with the coffees, I kicked both Eve and Paige out of the apartment. Whatever Paige was telling Sara, I knew it probably wasn’t good. Granted, I’d done my share of screwing around and not settling down, but how could I tell Sara this was different when I didn’t know yet?

No, it wasn’t that. The problem was I knew too well that this was going somewhere. I knew, because the moment we were alone again, I blurted out, “Will you come to the anniversary party with me?”

She stared at me with those wide, blue eyes of hers, and I thanked any deity listening that we were alone. I could see this turning into more of what we’d done last night. Of course, I wanted more of that, but I also wanted... no, I needed Sara to know this wasn’t just sex for me.

“Anniversary party?” Her brow furrowed, scrunching in that adorable way she had. Yes, this was going right back to the bedroom if this conversation went well.

“It’s the one hundred twenty-seventh anniversary of the magazine. The parties are always a big deal and a good time. I’ve never brought a date and I want you to be the first.” I wasn’t sure what else to say. Telling her this was a first for me – inviting someone to one of the many prestigious parties that filled my life – seemed like a good move, a way to let her know she was special.

Sara looked less confused and more impressed, now. “Wow, that means...” She quirked her lips to one side, and said, “Publishing since 1892. I knew it’d been around for a while. I mean, who in the industry doesn’t know that? But that long? Please excuse me but, again, wow! I’m guessing it will be fancy.”

“The fanciest,” I agreed, not really sure if that was correct. Some of the parties were more formal than others.

She hummed out a breath and finally said, “Let me think about it.”

It was a fair response, so I nodded and set the coffee cups on the kitchen table. “Do you know how cute you look when you want to overthink things?”

Another scrunch of that nose. She was killing me. “Are you telling me you want to take this back into the bedroom?” It was a loaded question, one I was more than happy to answer.

I’d had a few repeat lays in my time, but most were because there was something a little more creative or appealing about the woman. Once was usually enough for me in most cases. As a tingling current zinged along my inner thighs, though, I knew there wouldn’t be such a thing as “enough” with Sara.

She backed toward the bedroom, her eyes locked on my face. I didn’t take my gaze off her, either, and even more adrenaline surged through me. So much for getting dressed. She had to strip it all off again, and that was exactly what she did. One step at a time, one piece of clothing removed, until she stood naked in front of me.

Whatever hesitation she’d had the other night about showing me her body seemed to have evaporated. I took in the roundness of her breasts, belly, and thighs, all perfect places for me to touch.

“How badly do you want to do this?” she whispered, a mischievous gleam in her eyes.

“Pretty badly.” I didn’t mind admitting my need for her. Of all the women in the world, Sara was the only one who could understand what it was to be weak and to respect that weakness. I don’t know how I sensed that, but it was one of the things that drew me to her.

“Beg for it, Dylan. Tell me how much you want me.” In the past, women had thought they meant more to me and expected me to chase them, all because they’d received the slightest bit of attention from me. Those were the ones I ignored. But not Sara. She was worth the chase.

I approached until there was only a sliver of space between us and then hit my knees. My hands found her calves and slid up along her legs until I was gripping her ample hips. “Let me have you, Sara.” When I looked up into those blue eyes of hers, I saw them shining with desire.

The corners of her lips quirked up, but then softened. “On one condition.”

A condition? She could ask for anything and I would give it to her right now. That would have been my cue to drop any other woman but, again, not Sara. “Anything you want.” It came out on a breath, almost inaudible.

“All I want is your honesty. Don’t lie, don’t cheat, and always say what you have to say. Agree?”

I paused, not because I didn’t want to give her that, but because I wanted to see if I could come up with a reason not to be honest. “You know a little bit about my past, that it’s full of me and models and one night stands that meant nothing. But I will always want you and what we share will always mean something. You have my honesty anytime, anywhere.”

I stroked her legs, up to her backside. There were no barriers between us anymore, so I kissed the bare V between her thighs. The scent of her arousal made me want to lean in and taste her.

She let out a moan sweeter than any I’d ever heard. “It’s a deal. Now, make me come for you, please.” My begging had turned into her begging, and nothing could be hotter.

I rose to my feet and backed her up onto the bed. “I have something I want to use on you, if you’ll let me,” I told her. With one hand on her shoulder, pressing her down against the mattress, I used the other to open my bedside table. Inside the small drawer was a pink toy that I picked up out of its delicate wrapping. When I showed it to Sara, her eyes widened. “I bought this for a ‘what if’ moment. This seems like the time.”

She let out a breath and nodded before spreading h
er legs. I leaned over her and traced her folds with the toy. It glided over them before dipping into her, and then exiting with wetness glistening on the tip. Each circle of the toy over her sensitive flesh left a trail of wetness. As much as I wanted to taste Sara, I made myself wait. I wanted to feel her writhing under me, undulating and shuddering and clinging to me all the while.

So I returned to her entrance and, inch by inch, sank the toy inside her while twisting and turning it. When I couldn’t go any further, I pressed my thumb over her clit. At last, those needy moans of her followed, a low hum against my ear as I lay atop her.

“How’s that?” I whispered, my lips trailing against her neck.

“So good.” Her breath fanned over my skin. “Fuck me, Dylan.”

I pulled the toy out and then screwed it back into her again, my thumb finding her clit for another firm stroke. She lifted her hips and I saw one of her hands clawing at the blankets. That was all the encouragement I needed to continue thrusting the toy in and out of her, slowly at first, intent on simply filling her.

Once I had a good rhythm going, I brought my kisses to her mouth and then down her chest to her softly shifting breasts. The toy glided into her effortlessly, and I kept fucking her while I circled her nipples with my tongue. Each noise out of her mouth was louder than the last, her body lifting and opening, yearning for more.

Almost as soon as my lips closed around one nipple, she growled, “I’m coming.”

Those words encouraged me to both push and suck harder, to bring her home. The thought of rewarding myself by burying my face between her thighs was too much. I had to take this to the next level and soon.

“Come for me,” I commanded as I moved to her other breast and drew her nipple into my mouth. The moment I said it, she arched against me, her entire body jiggling with release. Between those sweet pink nipples of hers and the way her pussy gripped the toy, I didn’t know how I didn’t just straddle her face and get mine, too. But it was all worth the wait when she screamed my name from underneath me.
