Be Mine Tonight (Line of Duty Book 2) Page 9

“I’m all yours, baby,” he said softly.

He took her hand and tugged her into the bathroom, quickly turning on the shower. Colton unhooked her bra, letting it fall to the floor, and then Morgan pushed down her own panties. She was naked before him, so soft and perfect. Her breasts were full and pink-tipped, and his cock bobbed as he gazed at her.

He took her hand and pulled her into the shower, trapping her in his arms as he kissed her under the steaming water. She wrapped her arms tightly around his neck and stood on her tip-toes, pushing her breasts into his chest and kissing him as his hard length pressed against her belly.

Colton growled in approval and turned her around in his arms, pulling her back against his solid chest. His breath hitched as he held her body to his, her soft curves against him, his throbbing erection against her back.

He towered over her, his chin resting atop her head. He cupped her breast with one large hand, teasing and tormenting her nipple as her head fell back against his shoulder. His other hand slid down her wet body, coming to a rest when he reached her sex.

“I want to make you come, baby.”

  “God, yes,” she gasped.

His fingers sought entrance, sliding through her arousal-slickened folds. She was hot and wet for him, so perfect, and he couldn’t imagine anything better than the feel of her pussy clamping down around his thick length.

“You are so wet for me,” he said, slowly tracing her clit with one finger as she writhed against him. “Let me show you how good I can make you feel.”

He dropped his mouth to her neck, kissing her as he caressed her breasts and pleasured her. She whimpered, and he loved the small gasps she made. She was sexy and gorgeous, fitting perfectly in his arms and against his body. Colton loved how she writhed against him and trusted him to take care of her.

He circled her clit faster and then sank two thick fingers into her molten core, thrusting them in and out as she moaned and lightly thrust against him.

His fingers were drenched with her arousal, and he loved how turned on she was right now. He rubbed his palm against her clit as he finger fucked her, and she clenched onto his arm, her fingernails digging into his skin.

“That’s it, baby,” he muttered, his voice gravel. “Come on my hand.” He crooked his fingers, and she detonated, bucking her hips wildly as she cried out and rode through the waves of her orgasm.

Colton held her to him, growling his approval, determined to wring every ounce of pleasure he could from her. As she gasped for breath, she finally twisted in his arms. Colton bent down and kissed her, and she trailed her fingertips teasingly down his chest and stomach until she gripped his thick erection in her hand.

“Fuck, Morgan. That feels so good,” he said, eyes briefly closing as she caressed him. Her thumb slid over the swollen head of his cock, and he bucked into her.

“I want to do the same thing for you,” she murmured softly, pressing closer to him.

Water poured down over them in the hot shower, and he swore he’d never seen anything as gorgeous in his life as she looked up at him. Droplets of water ran down her body, over her swollen breasts, and his cock hardened even more as she worked him with her hands.

“Shit, Morgan,” he said as his balls began to tighten.

She’d barely begun to touch him, but he was so turned on he was ready to explode. She was soft and warm and willing, and with each touch he could barely see straight.

“You’re big,” she said softly, her hands tightening around his cock. She moved closer and kissed his bare chest, one hand moving lower to cup his balls, and he exploded, sending streams of come onto her belly.

“Holy hell,” he gasped, watching as she smiled up at in satisfaction.

  This woman.

  Jesus.

He ducked down and kissed her, loving the way he’d marked her even as the water was already rinsing it off. Colton grabbed a bar of soap to clean her, paying special attention to her breasts. Morgan’s stomach growled as he washed her, and he chuckled. “I need to feed you dinner like I promised.”

He quickly cleaned himself up, shut off the water, and easily lifted her up into his arms.

“I can walk,” she protested with a giggle.

“Maybe I like having your wet, naked body in my arms,” he said, his voice gravel. She flushed as he set her down. “This is a clean towel,” he said, wrapping it around her. “I’ll grab another one from the closet.” Her mouth gaped as he walked across the bathroom, buck naked and dripping wet. His cock was still half-hard, and he wanted to laugh at the expression on her face.

He worked hard for his muscular physique, but he loved that she appreciated his body. Not to mention that she seemed to be opening up around him. He’d love having Morgan walking naked around his place, too, not that he’d be encouraging that tonight.

  One step at a time.

He came back with a towel around his waist and saw that she’d already put her bra and panties back on.

“I need to stash my gear and get dressed. Make yourself at home though.”

He half hoped that she’d stay in his bedroom, but Morgan quickly dressed and went back down the hall. Groaning, he pulled on his boxers.

Part of him wanted to haul her back and make love to her in his bed, but he needed to feed her dinner like he’d promised. Slow things down a little. But hell if he didn’t love having her here in his apartment.

  ***

Morgan looked around the living room, waiting for Colton to come back. His apartment was masculine and mostly clean—a few things were scattered around. He wasn’t as much of a neat freak as her brother. Colton seemed quite meticulous in other areas though—he dismantled bombs for a living, for one. That clearly required patience. And he’d been more than interested in thoroughly examining every inch of her body when he pleasured her.

He was an attentive lover and a protective…date. He wasn’t her boyfriend. They were more than just friends. And although she didn’t normally go around sleeping with men that she’d just met, he was more than just a casual hook-up, too.

Naturally she’d meet a guy she clicked with, both sexually and otherwise, only to have him be off limits to her. And he certainly wouldn’t be happy if she oh so casually mentioned she was Jake’s sister.

She wandered around his living room, suddenly feeling distraught. She should leave, not dig herself in any deeper. She definitely shouldn’t have just kissed him or undressed and showered with him. Frowning, she looked at a few photos on his bookshelf. There was one of Colton, her brother, and Brock, and she quickly turned away.

Morgan certainly didn’t want Jake’s likeness staring at her. She already should’ve come clean. Now it just made her feel even more guilty, because she liked Colton.

What would he think if she just rushed out of here though? He’d helped her, come to the school parking lot to make sure she was okay, and brought her back to his apartment. And goodness. She actually really liked him.

“I’m all set,” he said a moment later, walking down the hallway in jeans and a tee shirt. He was barefoot, and somehow the sight of that was sexier than it should have been. Not to mention comfortable. She felt, for a brief moment, like they were boyfriend and girlfriend.

He smelled clean and masculine, and she wanted to go throw her arms around him, but she remained where she was.

“What can I get you to drink?” he asked. “I don’t have any Diet Coke, but I’ve got some beers in the fridge and plenty of wine.”

  “Wine sounds great,” she said.

He looked at her for a moment, shaking his head as he scrubbed a hand over his jaw.

“What?” she asked, suddenly feeling nervous.

She’d just showered with the man for goodness sake. Why she felt nervous now was silly and beyond reason.

“I like the look of you in my living room. And I shouldn’t, because I told myself I wouldn’t bring a woman here again unless I was serious about her.”

  “And we just met,
 she needlessly pointed out.

“Yep. So I’m trying to play this cool,” he said with a wink. “Because I like you far more than I should.”

  “I’m nervous,” she admitted softly.

Colton walked over toward her, taking her hand. “Don’t be, sweetheart. We’re just having dinner. I know things have moved quickly between us, but I swear I’d never do anything you didn’t want. You’re in charge here.”

  “Okay.”

He tugged her along with him. “I’m serious. Now come in the kitchen with me so you can tell me if you like my taste in wine.”

She relaxed slightly, liking how he was trying to make her more comfortable. “Oh come on. How bad could it be?”

He turned around and gazed down at her. “I’m just teasing you. My family owns a vineyard in California.”

“Wow. And you ended up here, all the way across the country?”

“What can I say?” he said with a low chuckle. “I always wanted to live in a big city. And although my parents would’ve loved if I joined the family business, it wasn’t for me.”

“I guess not. Being a bomb tech isn’t exactly the same as conducting wine tastings. What’s the worst that could happen there? You break a wine glass or something? Paper cut?”

His low chuckle sent shivers racing down her spine. “No, it isn’t the same,” he agreed. “I knew I wouldn’t be happy with that as my career though, so here I am.”

She watched as Colton crossed the room. His kitchen was relatively utilitarian—standard basic apartment stuff. But he had a wine rack in the corner that was fully stocked. “I’ve got Merlot and a couple of cabs if you want that with dinner. Or do you prefer white?

  “Red sounds perfect.”

He pulled open a drawer, producing a corkscrew. “I’m afraid dinner will be pretty simple—spaghetti and Prego. Think that’ll work?”

“After my day? Anything sounds good.”

He nodded, frowning. “Let me text you that info about that guy, too, before I forget. There’s always some crazy out there.”

“Thanks. Can I help with anything?”

“Want to start boiling the water? I’ll pour you a glass of wine, and then you can sit and relax.”

“I won’t say no to that.” She started rummaging through Colton’s cupboards, realizing she felt far more comfortable with him than she probably should here. She’d slept with the guy once and gotten naked with him in the shower. It’s not like they were dating or together though.

But after how frazzled she felt after her crazy day?

She liked being here with him. She felt comfortable and safe. And even though they were making a simple dinner in his kitchen, she felt at ease, like she belonged here. Even with her ex, there was always something that didn’t quite balance out—probably because she was the one managing their life while he was content to hang out on the sofa all day.

She’d dodged a bullet by never marrying him.

And although she could see herself eventually with a guy like Colton—someone confident and independent, who clearly had no trouble holding down a steady job and managing his own life, she knew she wouldn’t end up with him. Not forever.

Not when they’d basically started their entire relationship on a lie.

“All right, this is where I take over,” Colton said, handing her a glass of red. “Go sit and relax while I work my magic in the kitchen.”

She giggled, and his lips quirked.

“You don’t believe me? I’ve got all sorts of amazing culinary skills.”

“I’m sure you do,” she said, taking a sip of her wine and walking over to his small kitchen table. She felt nervous again, and she knew it was because she wasn’t being entirely truthful. The longer she knew him, the worse she felt.

  “So how’s the wine?”

“Oh, this is delicious.” She took another sip, letting the full-bodied red soothe her frayed nerves.

“Glad you like it,” he said, flashing her a quick grin.

She pulled out a chair and sank down, watching as he warmed some spaghetti sauce over the stove. He set the jar back on the counter, his large hand easily gripping it. Colton was the type of guy who seemed self-assured in everything he did. Changing the oil in his car? Cooking her dinner? Handling explosive devices?

  She shivered.

He even had excellent taste in wine.

And he was genuinely a nice guy, which meant she needed to come clean with him. Just as soon as she figured out exactly how.

“So what kind of training are you doing this week? Bomb squad stuff?”

“Yep.” He nodded, pouring pasta into the boiling water. “We’re training with the K-9 team—not Jake this time though. We’ll have a busy few days. That’s why I called you originally—I didn’t want to lose track of time and have you make other plans for the weekend.”

  “Right.”

He chuckled. “I won’t pressure you. Taste my store-bought spaghetti first before you make any rash decisions about going out on a real date with me.”

“Seems fair enough,” she said lightly.

He turned from the stove to look at her. “I like having you here. Hell, I’d still love to spend the night with you again, but I want to get to know you better, too.”

  “There’s not much to tell.”

“Oh come on. Friends? Family? Where you see yourself in five years? Only kidding about the last part,” he added as he turned and adjusted the temperature on the stove.

“Well, my life isn’t that interesting. I always wanted to teach. Growing up it was just my mom, brother, and me.”

Colton paused for a moment, crinkling his brow. “Are you from around here?”

“Yep. New York born and raised. My mom worked hard raising us, and I stayed local for college, got my teaching degree, and that was that.”

He nodded as he slowly stirred the sauce, and uneasiness settled in the pit of her stomach. Had she already given away too much? He probably knew that Jake had a sister and was from New York. That he grew up with a single mom.

But so did lots of kids. He wouldn’t figure it out just based on that.

“How about you?” she asked, trying to change the subject. “Big family to run the wine business?”

He nodded absently, seeming distracted. “Yep. There’s a few of us—I’ve got two brothers and a sister. Everyone else is out in California. My sister is married, so I’ve got a few nieces and nephews. Is your family still around here?”

“My family?” she asked, startled. Her voice sounded tight to her own ears as she answered. “Yeah, my mom and brother are still here. They’re local. New York’s a big place….” She trailed off.

He stirred the sauce again, then paused, and she swore she could see his shoulders tensing even from across the room. She held her breath, wondering if he’d realized the truth. “And what’s your brother’s name?” he asked casually.

Morgan froze. Holy hell. He could not have just figured it out. She hadn’t said anything to tip him off. Not really.

So why did it feel like her world was suddenly crumbling apart?

  Chapter 15

Colton clenched his jaw from where he stood at the stove.

  Holy shit.

Morgan could not be his buddy’s sister. Absolutely not. Jake would be livid, for one thing. You didn’t just take a girl to bed as soon as you met her when she was a friend’s relative. And even if Colton had wanted to date her after finding that out, he would’ve talked to Jake first. Bro code and all that. You didn’t just screw your buddy’s sister. And worst of all, if she was Jake’s sister, she’d lied to him.

She’d known all along he was friends with Jake. Hell, he’d literally shown up at the house.

Everything was suddenly clicking into place, and he felt like an idiot.

His ex-girlfriend had played him, stealing his money and lying about it, and Morgan had played him, too. She’d spent the night with him, knowing exactly who he was, all the while acting like she
was just someone renting a room at Jake’s.

All the while knowing both of them would be livid if she’d revealed the truth.

“Um, well.” She hesitated. He heard the clink of the glass as she set her wine back on the table.

Colton turned around and nailed her with a glare. Her face was pale, her lower lip trembling, and her eyes glistened. His gut clenched at seeing her upset, but it turned out he didn’t know her at all. She was a liar, just like his ex.

Had anything about her been real?

Maybe she slept with strange men all the time. She could meet a guy at the bar, pretend to be whoever she wanted, let him fuck her, and then move on with her life. Hell. She probably laughed about it with her friends. He’d taken her to bed all the while having no idea who she was.

“You’re Jake’s sister,” he said, his voice cold.

She didn’t answer, just stared at him as tears rolled down her cheeks.

“When I showed up at his house last weekend, you let me think you were just roommates. That you barely knew the guy. Of course, it all makes sense now. He was helping you out, letting you stay there after you broke up with your ex. I get it—assuming that story is even true. But I sure the hell wouldn’t have hit on you or slept with you if I knew who you were.”

She took a shaky breath, and he clenched his jaw.

He was furious that she’d played him. Shit. He’d just stripped her bare in his bedroom and showered with her, caressing and kissing her naked body. He’d planned to take her to bed after dinner, making love to her again before he saw her safely home. Before he made plans with her for the weekend.

  And now?

He was so upset, he didn’t even want to look at her.

“I didn’t mean to lie to you,” she said, wiping away her tears. “You asked if I was his roommate, and I didn’t really answer. I was embarrassed that I’d moved in with my brother.” She stood up quickly, knocking his kitchen chair back. “I also knew you wouldn’t look at my twice if you knew I was Jake’s sister. You wouldn’t see me the same way. But you don’t have to be such an asshole about it, telling me you regret sleeping together. I should’ve told you the truth, I know that. That doesn’t give you the right to act like a dick.”
