The good old sixty-nine position. She loved it.
His fingers found her nub and her G-spot. He worked those busy fingers in and out, then replaced his fingers with his tongue, clutching her thighs to hold her still.
She gasped. “Ohh…don’t…stop.”
“I have no intention of stopping as long as you don’t.” His voice was soft and deep, using his breath sparingly.
“Not me.” Her mouth covered his dripping tip and she sucked him in. All the while, he played with her pussy, slipping his fingers in and pulling them out slowly, and sucking on her nub. She climbed to a peak and was about to tumble—
He pulled away and pushed her bottom upward. “Turn around and sit on me, please.”
Danielle could never deny an injured man assistance. She giggled and lowered herself over him until his polished head teased the front door of her weeping pussy. “How bad do you want me, il mio amante?”
“You remember.” He wiggled his pene beneath her. “He wants to come home to his cozy cabin and sleep all winter, carina. Maybe even hibernate there for good.”
Why did that crazy metaphor sound so good? She lowered her hips and sat down all the way, pushing him inside as far as he could go. He filled her completely, yet she ached for more. She wiggled and pushed, deeper and harder, arching her back as the erotic sensation shot around inside her like a lightning ball. And thinking about balls…she grasped his sacs with a gentle squeeze.
“Hey, not fair, not fair at…all.” He gasped, sucked in a breath, and gasped again. “Just do me, Danielle. Don’t make me suffer.”
“It’s Dani, and I would never make you suffer. I only want to pleasure you.” She pumped him as hard as she could and not put any weight on his chest.
He groaned and closed his eyes. “Oh Dani. Dani. Ohh…”
One last thrust downward, all the way. She clasped him with her pelvic muscles and he burst inside her, squirting and pushing her right over the edge with him. “Oh God, you’re so very, very good.”
Maybe having to hold her weight off him somehow made sex better. She ached to collapse on his broad shoulders and lay with him in spent bliss, but his ribs were bruised or worse. She laid to the side and snuggled close again. He wrapped an arm around her and she was safe. All she cared about was being with him. This was going to be an awesome day.
“Bryce?”
Danielle glanced over at the bedroom doorway. There in all her pregnant glory stood Rory with her fingers pressed to her lips in horror, and she’d just called the man beside Danielle, with his recently deflated cock, Bryce.
“Oh, my God!” Danielle pulled away from the twin she’d straddled just moments ago, hopped off the bed and grabbed her clothes. She pulled on her panties, t-shirt and skirt, and rushed over to her best friend who’d bent over holding her stomach. “Rory? Are you okay?”
“My God, Dani. In my house?” She straightened and leaned back against the wall, rubbing her lower belly. She smiled a weak smile. “I’m fine. It was just a baby cramp.”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t know. I was helping him rest. Oh no, I mean…The Hulk hurt him, and I was just trying to—”
“I know what you were doing, Dani. I’m not stupid.” Aurora shook her long blonde curls. Her face was flushed pink, her eyes filled with unshed tears, and her lips formed into a broad grin. “But could you at least close the door?”
What? She looked her friend right in the eye. “You’re not mad at me?”
“Why should I be? I want you to be happy. He’s a great choice for a lover.”
She glanced over her shoulder at the handsome stud resting on the double bed. He’d pulled the quilt over himself and had the most charming grin, dimple and all. “For Pete’s sake, Rory! He’s your fiancé. Are you crazy?”
Aurora giggled and grabbed her round tummy again. “Yes. Totally crazy—about Bryce.”
“You called me, mia bella? I was playing with Brutus.”
A total duplicate of the man Danielle had just had sex with walked up behind her best friend, wearing a green t-shirt and jeans that sported muddy paw prints. Danielle’s heart lifted. She spun around to stare at the man sprawled on the bed.
Brent winked and tilted his head to the side for sympathy. “I told you who I was, but you didn’t believe me.”
No, she hadn’t, but she’d never seen the two of them together. Wow. The similarity is impressive. How can Rory tell them apart?
Bryce brushed past her and entered the bedroom. “Why aren’t you at work? I had to take the morning off to meet Aurora at the hospital. Damn it all, Brent. Get your lazy ass out of bed now. Our store is being run by a skeleton crew.”
“Wait a minute! He can’t.” Danielle walked over to the bed, protective of her man. “Your Hulk sat on him and bruised his ribs. He needs rest.”
Bryce burst into laughter and slapped his thigh. “Damn, that’s the best excuse to have daytime sex I’ve heard of in a long time. This girl’s good. I like her.”
****
“I like her too.” Brent meant it. He couldn’t take his gaze off Danielle.
She had captured his heart in the short time they’d known each other. It wasn’t just sex with her that excited him. He liked her smile and her laughter. He liked her common sense and her ability to accept a challenge. He loved that she was spontaneous during sex. He wanted to make love to her every night and explore their sexual relationship. He wanted to discover all there was to know about her. What she loved and what she feared most. He wanted to do all the things he’d sworn he never would—including coddle her and spoil her.
Damn, if he wasn’t serious about a woman for the first time in his life. And no one was going to ruin it.
“We’ll leave you two lovebirds alone.” Aurora tugged at Bryce’s sleeve and attempted to close the bedroom door.
Bryce leaned back into the room. “Your ribs will be better in a few days. Trust me. Hulk didn’t mean it, and he apologizes for his brutality.” He laughed and closed the door.
Danielle walked back toward the bed. “I’m sorry I doubted you. When Rory burst in and said Bryce, well, I thought you were him again. Not you…and maybe, I’d never even met you or been with you. But I did and I’m glad. And I’m not crazy after all.”
He smiled and tugged her closer. “Just kiss me, cara mia. I need you.”
She bent to caress his lips and melted into the kiss with a sigh. “I need you too.”
Music to his ears. What was the song about crazy love? Ah, yes, he could hear her heartbeat for miles. He wanted to kiss her and hold her for a very long time too. The only way he would know for sure Danielle was the right one for him was to pursue her. He intended to do so as soon as his ribs healed. The damn monster dog had set his plan back a few days, that’s all. The Hulk fit the oversized canine perfectly.

Danielle sat behind her desk in her home office and smiled at the bird on the tree branch outside her window. The little guy was singing his heart out. It reminded her of the way Brent sang to her two nights before. Romantic and sweet, if a bit off key. He loved to sing, and she enjoyed listening to his smooth baritone voice. Even more so when he whispered Italian sweet nothings in her ear during sex.
She sighed and picked up her cellphone to call the market. The phone rang and rang, but he didn’t answer. She snatched her purse from the desk and hurried out the door. Maybe she’d surprise him at work for a quickie. They’d been dating for over two weeks now, and she couldn’t wait to see him again. His sore ribs were better, he could laugh without pain, and their almost nightly sex was incredible.
Storm clouds rolled in and looked about to burst, typical of a late spring afternoon. It was a good thing she didn’t have far to drive to Love’s Farmer’s Market. She pulled her Bug into the parking lot and parked beside Brent’s sporty car. Inside the market was busy as usual, but she didn’t spot Brent anywhere downstairs. She’d not ventured upstairs since the first time he’d made passionate love to her in the office
shower.
She wandered through the store, hoping Brent might notice her and come down. After fifteen minutes of pretending interest in the produce section, she headed for the back stairs determined to see him. A cute teenage cashier looked at her curiously as she passed. Odd. It was almost if she was suspicious of her. Why?
Brent was a successful and handsome bachelor. Any girl would love to be the one he chose to be with. But he’d chosen her, and she was thrilled. She paused in front of the door marked Manager with her fist raised about to knock but decided not to. Why should she? He would love to see her after spending two whole days apart.
She turned the knob and pushed open the door with a smile.
The words she wanted to say stuck in her mouth.
A busty blonde sat in Brent’s lap, her arms around his neck, nuzzling her face against his shoulder. The young woman looked up and smiled at her, lips pouting before she pressed her lips to Brent’s in a full-fledged lover’s kiss.

Brent turned the chair around at Janie’s giggle. Danielle stood in the doorway. She didn’t speak a word, but her face spoke a thousand. Her eyes filled with tears, and she shook her head no. She swung around and ran down the stairs. Her heels click-clacked all the way to the stair bottom and faded away.
He lifted Janie off his lap and stood. “Dammit, Janie. I told you I was involved with someone else. Why did you do this to me?”
“We’ve always played around when we meet up. You’ve never minded before. Like the time in New Jersey. You said you had a girl in your room, but you stayed and played with me. I know your type, Brent. You can’t get serious, but I don’t mind sharing. As long as we have great sex together, you can have other girls on the side. Who cares about loyalty anyway?”
“I do. Hell, she’ll be so pissed off she won’t talk to me now.” Of all the times for Danielle to show up, it had to be while he was trying to make Janie leave and let their old relationship go. He shook his head and paced the floor around his desk. No matter what he said or did now, he was back at square one with Danielle. She would never believe his side of the story.
“You didn’t answer your phone when I was offering to give you a blowjob. Your dick was interested, but you sure weren’t. It was probably her calling, but it’s okay. You still have me.” She wrapped her arms around him and placed her hand on his crotch. “Let’s play, tiger.”
He pushed her hand away and ran his fingers through his hair. “I told you before, and I’ll say it again—my heart is taken. For real. I’m no longer on the market for thrills. If you’re really my friend, you’ll honor my wishes and leave.”
“Shit. She must be something special. I never got you to say the L word to me, and now you are—but not with me—with another woman.”
“Let me go, Janie. Please.”
“We could have been great together, Brent.” She curled her hair around her fingers and pouted. A look that used to turn him on, a long time ago.
“It wasn’t meant to be. Or I wouldn’t be wishing I were with her, wherever she went.” It was the truth, he was lost without Danielle. She was the one.
“Ouch. You really are in love.” She gathered up her sweater and purse from the guest chair and walked to the door. “Why are you still standing here? Go get her, dammit.”
“She’ll push me away. She needs time to cool down.”
Janie harrumphed. “Just don’t come knocking on my door for steamy sex when this one tosses you out. She’s not your type anyway. You dig blondes.”
“Hair color doesn’t matter when you’re in love.” He walked over to the viewing window. Danielle was long gone. “Goodbye, Janie. Please go.”
Brent didn’t bother to turn around. He was done with the blonde who’d just caused the one woman he loved a whole boatload of pain. The office door slammed. He listened as Janie stomped down the stairwell. Not the delicate tip-tapping of Danielle’s feet but a heavier, crasser noise, just like the owner.
He slammed his fist down on the desktop. How in hell was he going to clear this mess up with Danielle? She had finally trusted him after the whole Bryce issue was cleared up.
His cellphone buzzed and he answered, not bothering to look at who was calling.
“Brent? It’s Uncle Tony. I need you to go down to the winery and pick up my order. Some confusion about not having a driver. I need this vino yesterday, but I told them I will send you. Take my catering van. Plenty of room for my vino, and perhaps if you take your girl…”
“I can do it, but it’ll just be me.” He couldn’t very well turn his uncle down and feel right about it. He’d done so much for them and rarely asked favors. Though, he’d much prefer to send one of their own drivers, he understood Uncle Tony was very protective about his select wines.
“I will call them and tell them you’re on your way.” He cleared his throat. “Thank you for this, Brent. I know you’re a busy man too.”
“It’s fine, Uncle Tony. I can actually use the break.”
After he’d hung up, he wished he could steal Danielle away for a couple days. But that was impossible now. Maybe it would do him good to be alone. He had to think of a way to talk to her. What she’d witnessed looked bad. If he walked in on her and she had a man on her lap thrusting his tongue down her throat, he’d be mad as hell. How could he ask her to forgive him when he looked so damn guilty?
The moment Janie had walked into his office, he sensed trouble brewing. She was a hot sexpot, and he’d enjoyed her free spirit in the past. But he was done with anyone else the moment he set eyes on Danielle.

“I swear, shoot me if I ever consider looking cross-eyed at that man again, Rory.” Danielle glanced down at her fingernails and decided she would like to scratch Brent’s eyes out. Just once. “Now, I don’t have him to go with me to the Monarch Lavender Farm, and you can’t go because you shouldn’t be traveling. How are you feeling anyway?”
Aurora laughed sounding like a little girl over the phone. “I’m fine. Nothing a nice ride into the country would harm. But I have an article to finish for Stan. You might be better going without me, if you want to get down and back before the weekend crowd. I’m sorry, Dani.”
She shrugged, although her friend couldn’t see her through the cellphone towers, it gave her some relief to loosen up. So much stress didn’t bide well with her profession. “It’s okay. The long drive will give me time to think, and the big plus is I’ll be miles away from him. That’s a good thing, right?”
“Right but take time to cool down and give him another chance. You won’t be sorry, Dani. He’s a great man.”
“Whatever. Anyway, I’m leaving this afternoon. I’ll probably stay the night down there somewhere.” The long four-hour drive would get her there before dark. But not leave time to do what she had to do and return home before some ungodly hour. With that decision settled in her mind, she’d already made an appointment with the owner for the following day.
“There’s a quaint hotel in town just before the turn-off. Bryce stayed there when he visited last year. Oh, bring me back a few swigs of lavender. I love the romantic scent. Please?”
“Sure, Rory. Take care and I’ll talk to you soon.”
Danielle hung up the cell and sat back with a sigh. How could life go so right one minute and turn completely around in a heartbeat? All she wanted was to be happy. To find that one special man and build a life together. The happy ever after just wasn’t happening. She should accept it and go on helping others make their special day a memorable one, like she was doing for Bryce and Aurora. They wanted to have their wedding at the lavender farm. She would make all the arrangements, take measurements, and order whatever props were needed to make it a beautiful early summer wedding and reception.
She packed her overnight suitcase, looked up the hotel Rory mentioned on the Internet, and made the reservation. She was set to go. Alone. Yuck. She loved people and wanted to be surrounded by them most of the time. It left little time to be lonely
or think about what she didn’t have. With a weary sigh, she stuffed her belongings into her Bug, and she was ready to hit the road south.

Monarch Lavender Farm and Winery sat off the main highway a mile past the small town of Old Brook. Danielle passed the historic hotel on the main drag and had to pull a U-turn to reach it. She signed in, dropped off her things in her room, and drove on out to the lavender farm to look around. The meeting she’d set up with the farm’s proprietor was for tomorrow morning, but she wanted to take a peek ahead of time. She hadn’t been here in a long while, and she didn’t have anything else to do besides eat dinner and sleep.
The sun dipped into the western sky under a pillow of pink and orange clouds. It was a nice spring night with temps in the low sixties and a light breeze. Sweater weather. She shivered. She’d left her sweater back at the hotel, but she wouldn’t be outside long. She still needed to find a place to eat. As she wandered the pebbled paths through the tall lavender and colorful flowerbeds, she was led to the wine tasting room. For a small fee, she could taste the lavender infused wines from the house winery. Why not? A nice way to while away a couple hours before dinner. She paid the fee and sat at the bar, waiting for her first sample.
The female bartender placed a small-stemmed glass in front of her with a generous portion of wine. “Enjoy!”
She lifted the glass to her nose to sniff the scent and peeked over the rim toward a group of young men laughing and having a good time. She sighed and took a swallow. Wow. The wine was aromatic and delicious. A slight nip to it, but she liked it. Ignoring the loud laughter nearby, she polished off her second sample and wished there was some sort of food available. She hadn’t eaten lunch and the wine was getting to her a wee bit. When the next sample came along, she sipped it and found it tastier than the first two. Incredible. Either she was getting drunk or they were saving the best wines for last.
