“Did you do this?” Sebastian asked, his eyes full of wonder.

“No,” I shook my head slightly in denial. “But this moment, it’s meant for us.”

  “What do you mean?”

“I’m not sure exactly,” I admitted. “But it feels right.”

His slow, returning smile warmed my heart and sent wild chills of anticipation up and down my spine.

“I love you,” he whispered as he pulled me into his arms.

My heart swelled with love and joy, while desire flared deep within me. I held myself tightly against him, my lips finding his neck and kissing a slow trail upwards, searching for his lips.

“A moment outside of time, to be together in a way that time has never given our souls,” I murmured.

His breathing quickened. I thought I could almost hear his heart beating or perhaps it was the sound of my own heart hammering wildly in my chest.

“Our own little piece of forever,” he agreed, his voice hushed.

And then he kissed me, as time ceased to exist, as that one kiss stretched into infinity. We tumbled together to the ground, all thoughts erased from my mind as all I knew was him: his lips, his hands, his body against mine. Passion, desire and pure ecstasy thundered through me as our souls and bodies intertwined and joined together into one. The moment stretched into infinity, and all I knew—all that existed—was his passion and mine, and our love for one another. There was no beginning and no end, just us, together, forever.

A long time later, after days and weeks, years and centuries had passed, and yet no time at all, the amber fire that painted the sky along the horizon faded quietly away. Slowly, the blazing sun began to set against the sapphire sky.

  Acknowledgments

There are always so many people to thank at this point. This book would have taken me ten years to write (instead of two!) without all your help and support, and might never have become any more than an unfinished document on my laptop.

I have to start by thanking all my supporters and everyone who has read The Lost Magic books! This book was inspired by and written for you. It might not have been written if you didn’t ask for it, so thank you. A special thanks to all the reviewers and book bloggers out there as well who have read, recommended and talked about my books. I really appreciate your hard work, professionalism and support. Thanks for helping to spread the word.

Mumma, ultimately you’re responsible for absolutely everything that I do but thank you specifically for watching my monsters so I can get my work done, supporting me and listening to me whenever I needed a shoulder or an ear, and beta-reading my manuscripts. Thanks for your patience. Thanks for loving me. You’re simply the best.

And speaking of the best, I’m so lucky to have the best friends in the world! Thank you for supporting me and my writing, for reading my books, coming to my events, listening to me vent, giving me great advice and making me laugh. Francoise, you’re included under the “friends” category too before you ask where your name is! A sister is a friend for life, and your love and support are invaluable. Thank you Camille for being amazing, for keeping my website up-to-date, for beta-reading the book and being an incredible friend. I really couldn’t do it without all of you.

My boys are my inspiration. I love you two so much, your smiles and laughs and sweet kisses and hugs make my world go round. Thank you for being patient with your Mummy whose head is often in the clouds or who sometimes has to send a “quick email” before she can play monster trucks. I would play monster trucks with you all day if I could. And hugs to my beautiful nieces who have their own adorable magic.

Jesse, my partner in crime, my biggest supporter and most valuable critic, my shoulder to cry on who is always there for me no matter what. I love you so much for the million things you do for our family and for me, for the wonderful person that you are. Thank you. I love you.

And finally, one of the best for last, thank you Michelle at Central Avenue Publishing! My books wouldn’t be out there in the world if it weren’t for you. Thank you for helping me translate the ideas in my head onto paper and wrapping them in such beautiful covers. Thank you for all the hard work you do for all your authors. Thank you for your support, your advice, your patience and your expertise. Thanks for being awesome.
