“That sounds great and all, but I’m afraid I can’t do that.” I’m left open mouthed as he leans in and kisses the top of my head before opening the bedroom door. “It’s time to face the music, Princess.” And with those parting words, he opens the door and walks straight out of my room and onto the landing—where anyone could find him.
What the hell is he doing? Now he’s going to land us both in the crap and he doesn’t even seem to care. My mind is spinning. How the hell am I supposed to explain this random stranger in the house? The hot boy from school who’s decided to walk around like he fucking owns the place.
My mom will have a fit when she finds him.
CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
KANE
Pulling myself away from Olivia was a whole lot harder than I thought it would be. I didn’t expect her to still have that kind of hold over me. Especially now but fuck if my heart doesn’t beat for her in a way that it never has before.
It shouldn’t and I’m well aware of why, but my heart and my cock haven’t received the memo yet. I don’t know how but she’s managed to get under my skin since the moment I laid my eyes on her and her perfect fucking body is imprinted in my mind, haunting my every waking thought.
I’d originally set out to use her as a key player in my revenge plan against Taylor. To let her know how it feels to have someone go behind your back or hit it off with someone you can’t stand, only things have escalated and even I didn’t see this one coming.
“What do you think you’re playing at?” Olivia hisses after me down the hall. She came running after me—just like I knew she would. Sure, she might act like she doesn’t care about anything, but the truth is, when push comes to shove, she’s just like the rest of them. Putty in my fucking hands and I am so here for it. “Are you trying to get caught?”
“Maybe…” I reply truthfully as I turn to face her, and her little mouth opens some while her cheeks grow bright with rage. When she looks like this, I can just imagine her on her knees sucking my cock and it sends a wicked thrill around my body. Damn. Seeing her getting all worked up like this only makes me want her more, but I need to re-evaluate this little situation.
Things have changed drastically over the past hour and although this little plot twist will work in my favor, I need to make sure I take the time to plan my next move carefully. The annoying thing is as much as I want to, I won’t be able to destroy Olivia Greendale completely. Sure, I can break her beyond repair, but I need to make sure there’s still a small fraction of her that remains—at least for now.
“Have you always been such a drama queen?” I tease.
“Have you always been such an asshole?”
“Pretty much. It’s a wasted exercise forcing yourself to be something you’re not, so what’s the point. If people don’t like it then they don’t need to stick around.” I throw back at her as she stomps towards me and she looks savage. If I had to take a wild guess, I’d say she’s finally reached breaking point, and little does she know that the fun hasn’t even started yet.
“Listen. You’re the one who’s broken into my room, make a pass at me and now you’re making me out to be a drama queen? I have every right to be angry.” Her hands fall to her small hips and she looks like such a brat. Looking at her now I can just imagine her fitting right in on the cheer squad, and that thought angers me further. “I think it’s time you disappeared before you cause any
more trouble.”
“And why would I want to do that? The fun’s only just beginning.” Olivia’s eyes grow wide and for a second it looks like she’s about to charge at me. But there’s no way I’m going to stand here and back down to her childish demands. This girl has no idea who I am, but she will find out soon enough and when she does, then she’ll have a reason to bitch.
“Because if you don’t then we’ll both be in the shit if you’re found here. Do you want to get caught? Is this some big thrill for you?”
Oh, and now she’s trying to throw out the guilt card just so she can save her own skin. That move may have worked well for her in the past, but it won’t work with me. “You can’t get caught if you haven’t done anything wrong, Princess.”
“Quit with the bullshit and avoiding the inevitable.” Her small, tiny frame paces the hall as she tries to think up ways of getting me to escape but she’s fighting a losing battle because that’s not going to happen. I’m not going anywhere. I swear, seeing her all stressed and worked up excites me a whole lot more than it should.
Does that make me sick and twisted? Maybe.
Do I care? Do I fuck.
Olivia doesn’t realize what she’s gotten herself into and unfortunately for her there isn’t a way out. She can’t turn around and escape and I’ll make sure she never does.
This isn’t how I planned it, but Olivia Greendale is now my prisoner—whether she knows it or not, and no one will be able to save her. You see, the vile woman who birthed this feisty piece of hotness has ruined my life and taken something from me, and it’s only fair that I get to take something from that witch too. And that’s why I’m going to take her innocent little girl and make her mine. I’m going to enjoy every single moment of toying with her emotions while corrupting the fuck out of her soul.
I’ll probably let her in under false pretenses and allow her to slowly but surely fall in love with me, and when she’s fallen too deep with no chance of a way out, that’s when I’ll strike—hot as an iron.
I’ll torture her soul and crush her little heart so badly that she’ll never be able to trust another person. When I’m finished with her, she’ll be too scared to confide in a single soul for the rest of her days.
Olivia Greendale will eventually be damaged and broken beyond repair and she only has her mother to blame. Of course, I’m not stupid. I know this won’t bring my mom back, but it might give my mind a much-needed escape from the pain, even if for just a little while. And I know I’ll feel better for hurting my fucked-up excuse of a father in the process.
My phone vibrates in my jean pocket, echoing out in the deathly silence which surrounds us, and when I look at the screen, I can see that it’s Ryder on the other end of the line.
Shit.
That motherfucker is probably still waiting for me outside. I’d originally planned to sneak in, grab a few essential items to see me through for a few days and then get the hell out of here before anyone saw me. But everything changed when I noticed that one of the guest rooms had been made up.
Someone else was staying here. Obviously, my father’s new whore has added baggage. When I stepped into the room one picture confirmed just who the baggage was—none other than Manorcroft’s very own new hottie—Olivia fucking Greendale.
I don’t know how I didn’t put two and two together sooner. I mean, what are the chances of getting a new girl rock up to school around the same time that my dad moved his new whore into my mom’s house?
It’s fair to say that my head is one big fucking mess right now, but I should have made the connection. It doesn’t matter though, because this won’t have an impact on my end game—that’s something I’ll make sure of.
I knew from the moment I saw Olivia Greendale that I was going to make her my new play toy and now that it looks like we’ll be living under the same roof everything will go in my favor.
“Livy…” The sound of her mom’s voice sounds out again and this time she sounds like she’s getting closer.
“Please don’t do this,” Olivia’s voice is barely a whisper, quietly floating in the air between us. “I’m begging you.” She adds and although the thought of her begging excites me, I have to remember that I don’t owe her a damn thing. And its high time everything in this town belongs to me—including her, and if she doesn’t like it then she can scurry off back to wherever it is she came from and she can take her whore of a mother with her too.
I decide to ignore her plea and instead pick up my cell, hit the answer button and say, “Yo, what’s poppin’?” I keep my eye
s firmly fixed on my new housemate and a sudden thrill rushes through my body. She’s scared, that much I can tell and fuck if it doesn’t excite me more. The atmosphere grows more intense and I can hear her breathing getting faster, while her chest rises and falls rapidly, emphasizing her pert little titties, and damn, it’s quite the distraction.
“Don’t worry about me. What’s happening on your end, bro? Is everything good?” He asks. “I’m freezing my balls off out here in the truck, so hurry the fuck up.” Ryder man, it doesn’t matter what he’s doing, that guy is always bitchin’ about something. But I don’t have time to worry about him right now.
I slowly allow my eyes to roam freely up and down Olivia’s sweet little body—a body I’m about to violate and a wicked grin creeps onto my face as the explicit thoughts begin to circulate in my mind. I’m quick to offer her a wink when she watches me wide-eyed.
It’s clear to see that Olivia Greendale doesn’t want to like me, but she’s having a real hard time trying to fight me off. She’s all sassy on the outside, but I bet I’d be able to make her cookie crumble—no fucking problems. She may not be from around here, but just like the rest of the girls at Manorcroft, she doesn’t have the willpower to keep me away—or the choice.
“Kane, what the fuck’s going down?” Ryder’s voice bellows out down the line again, pulling me out of my thoughts and bringing me back to the here and now.
“There’s been a change of plan.” I tell him. “You head back to yours and I’ll call you later.”
“Are you shittin’ me? He demands. “I’ve been out here waiting for you for ages. Couldn’t you have called me to give me the heads up?” I vaguely here his voice somewhere in the distance but Ryder no longer holds my attention.
Let the games begin…
It’s pointless dragging this out. Olivia clearly doesn’t want her mom to find out she’s had some random guy hanging out in her room. Although this is gonna hurt her, it’s high time the secret came out.
“Do you want to go first, or shall I?” I can’t help but tease her some more.
“You’re out of your goddamn mind. What is wrong with you?”
“Oh, Princess. You have no idea…” I know I’m going to make her suffer through no fault of her own. This is all down to her mom’s wrong doings and poor little Livy has once again found herself in the wrong place at the wrong time. But I’m still going to claim this naïve little girl and make her mine, and a revenge plan like this needs to have some fun too—it’s all about balance. So why rush things?
I want little miss Greendale to feel every piece of the heartbreaking blow I’m going to deliver to her in due course and to ensure that’s what happens I need to make her want me first. Olivia must need me the way she’s never needed anything else in her life.
I want her to solely depend on me, and in order to do that I’m going to need to keep her close. Hell, I’ll suffocate her with my presence if I have to. Either way, it’s game over. There’s only room for one winner here and that will always be me.
Kane Egan doesn’t lose at anything and I won’t be changing that anytime soon.
“Kane?”
I reach the last step and almost go crashing into my father. He jumps back and he looks super shocked to see me. It’s not surprising really after I told him that he’d never see me in this house again while his whore was still here—but things have changed and now I know who Olivia is, I need to be in this house at all times. It doesn’t matter how much I hate being here, needs must, and it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make.
“Dad…” I reluctantly acknowledge him, and my voice is completely void of any emotion. He watches me closely, his brows knitted together in confusion and I struggle to hold his gaze. All too soon I feel a firm grip on my shoulder as my dad pulls me into his embrace and I flinch from the contact. I don’t want my dad anywhere near me, let alone touching me.
“Welcome home, son. It’s good to see you back where you belong.”
“Whatever.” I hiss back and my words are laced with venom. “Let’s not make a big deal of it, yeah. And don’t get too used to it.” I have no plans to stay here permanently. If he thinks I’m back for good and all is forgiven, then he’s even more deluded than I thought. He might be able to act like my mom never existed, but me… that’s never going to happen.
I swear, as soon as I’ve worked my magic on Olivia and driven her and her mom out of this house and hopefully town, I’ll be long gone too. And this time I’ll be gone for good. Then my father will be left all alone—with no one by his side—just the way it should be, with nothing but his selfish thoughts to keep him company for the rest of his days. Maybe then he’ll be able to reflect on the major fuck-up’s and irreparable hurt he’s caused along the way.
“Come on, son.” He whispers, his eyes swimming with concern and once again he’s trying to play the fucking victim. I’m surrounded by assholes and for now there’s not much I can do about it but bite my lip and crack on like nothing is wrong. But the truth is, he can act like he cares all he wants, but I know that my dad couldn’t give a damn whether I was here or not, but it seems that now his new whore is on the scene he needs to work on keeping up appearances, like we’re the perfect father and son duo.
“Oh, my. You must be Kane.”
My head snaps toward the sound of that awful unfamiliar screech and I’m surprised at what I find waiting for me. I have to admit that this woman looks nothing like the way I imagined her to. I had envisioned a tall, slim blonde pumped full of Botox and filler circling on repeat in my head. But this one looks, how should I put it… normal? She is nothing like my father’s usual choice of fuck buddy, and I won’t lie—it’s completely thrown me.
Instead of long blonde bottle dyed hair, this one has a short black pixie style haircut. Her eyes are as dark as my soul and her smile is so wide and forced that I wonder if her face is about to crack open. I mean, that cannot be comfortable.
“Kane, this is Trisha. Trisha, this here is my one and only son, Kane.” What the hell is he doing? Obviously, this woman knows who I am. Why does he have to draw attention to me like this, while he’s beaming at me from ear to ear like he’s the proudest man who’s ever lived. But again, this is just for appearances. I know fake act of caring means absolutely nothing and it’s all for show. My father doesn’t give a fuck about anyone but himself and who’s currently lay under him. One day soon, Trisha or whatever the hell she’s supposed to be called will come to learn just how unreliable and selfish this man actually is.
“Your father has told me so much about you.”
“Is that right?” I narrow my eyes in disbelief at my father—the man who’s supposed to look out for me and guide me as best as he can in this life. He knows I’m not falling for this bullshit, yet the sick and twisted son of a bitch still continues to look at me like I’m his pride and fucking joy. Anyone who doesn’t know him the way I do would be easily fooled into thinking that this guy is father of the fucking year.
I swear, if this wasn’t my life, I’d find it comical.
“Livy, baby…” Trisha’s piercing squeal breaks the silence and penetrates the air around us and I’m surprised the crystal chandelier above doesn’t shatter before she turns her attention to the girl behind me as she finally comes down the stairs.
“Mom, what’s going on?” The panic in her voice is clear to hear, and she’s probably wondering what I’ve told them. Man, Olivia has no fucking idea what’s about to go down.
“There’s someone we’d like you to meet.” My father calls over to her as she continues to creep down the stairs, edging closer to me with caution. At least she’s wise enough to keep her distance from me. I turn my head a little to look at her and if I thought she looked scared earlier then it has nothing on how she looks right now. All the color has drained from her heart-shaped face, and any trace of heat from before has vanished completely. I’ve never seen someone look so pale, and yet she still manages to look hot as fuck.
&nbs
p; Olivia narrows her eyes back at me and I can see the hate she feels for me right now swimming in her hazel pools. Her mom is obviously too blind to notice, or maybe she’s more like my father than I initially gave her credit for and she doesn’t give a damn about her child either. Instead, her mom smiles brightly like this is some amazing family reunion before leaning into my father and placing a delicate hand on to his chest.
In the exact same way that my mom used to do.
I close my eyes and try to block out my anger. I want to scream and shout at this stranger to take her hands off my father. I want to tell her that no matter how hard she tries she will never be my mother and she will never be able to replace her—but I keep my mouth closed because even though I’m raging on the inside, I know that now isn’t the time or place for that kind of showdown.
“Livy, come and meet Kane.”
Olivia narrows her eyes some more and her little button nose crinkles as she tries to work out what’s happening here. “But we’ve already met at school. Mom, how do you know him?” She asks and I can’t help but snigger at her stupidity and foolishness. At school. Hell, if her mom hadn’t have interrupted us, I bet that I’d be balls deep inside little Livy right about now and she’d be begging me for more, desperate for it to never end.
“You have?” Her mom claps her hands together excitedly and it’s all very cringe. “You know, I’ve got a good feeling about this. I think you two will become the best of friends. You guys have so much in common. What do you think, Livy?”
“What do I think about what?” she shakes her head, and her face is scrunched up in confusion.
“You’ve always wanted a friend, and now you’ve got one.”
“Uh, quit being embarrassing, mom.” I see a tiny fleck of color rising to her cheeks. “Why don’t you tell me what’s actually happening here because I’m confused.”
Now it’s my turn to shine in the spotlight, and I’m going to enjoy every single second of it.
