POISON-TONGUED JUMPING TORTOISE: Spiky, nasty, bouncy, prone to licking, and definitely not a house pet.

SUNSPITTER: To a Leafeater, anyone who is not a Leafeater.

THEODORE THE WISE: Elderly potter who makes Giving Pots, careful studier of the Lyre’s prophecies, protector of young girls lost in the woods, and in general someone you should probably listen to.

  TODDLE: An overburdened donkey.

  TURNIP: A controversial vegetable.

WORVIL: A worrier, but we love him anyway.
