Benoit (Owatonna Book 3) Page 17

by RJ Scott

“We could go back to bed. I don’t have to be at the gym until nine, and your new job as video coach…”

“Begins today.” He sighed sadly. “I want to be there early to meet with the rest of the coaching staff before you chuckleheads arrive tomorrow. So, unfortunately, your young blood will have to cool off until tonight.”

I moaned in the most morose way I could. Yeah, sure, we’d just made love last night, but that was, like, nine hours ago…

“I’m not sure I like this adulting shit,” I complained as I burrowed my nose into his thick hair.

  “You missing Owatonna already?”

I sat back after a moment to seriously consider his question. He waited patiently, as he always did for me to arrive at the place I needed to be. That was just one of the many things I loved about him: his patience.

“Yeah, I do miss it. I mean, your college years are special. It’s where you find out who you are, right?” He shrugged, and I felt bad. “You could do some online courses. You and Jared. You’d ace it. Smart, sexy man like you.”

“Mm, well, I did ask you to marry me, so I guess I am pretty fucking brilliant.”

Yep, he was. And I was brilliant to say yes.

  Save the Date

The final story from The Railers - 30 June

Adler organizing the bachelor party, Trent supplying the wedding planner, and Stan writing a speech. What can possibly go wrong?

Ever since he first set foot in Harrisburg, Tennant’s life has been a rollercoaster. Ups and downs too numerous to mention, hard knocks and championship rings. Through all of those monumental moments, one thing has been a constant for him, Jared Madsen. Now that their wedding day is drawing nearer, Ten is seriously considering eloping. He would, if not for his mother, his father, his brothers, the wedding planner, the guests, the cake, the press, and the team. Oh, and then there’s his best friend, who is vying for the job of ringmaster of the wedding circus. Would sneaking off during the night with Jared and skipping to the honeymoon part of the festivities really be all that bad?

When Jared proposed to Ten, he imagined a quiet wedding, on a beach somewhere, with family, and maybe the team. But life gets complicated with Ten’s warring brothers, a Russian goalie with a love of sequins, and a bachelor party organized by Adler. When Trent sends them a wedding planner, every spare hour is filled with choosing invitations, cake tasting, and finding a rose in the perfect shade of green. Add in Layton organizing a press conference, and suddenly their private wedding is destined to become a media sensation. Is it wrong to think seriously about kidnapping Ten and spiriting him away to a small deserted island?

  Raptors #1 – Coming September 29th

A brand new series from RJ & VL, charting the lives and loves of the Arizona Raptors, a struggling NHL team (and don’t worry, we finally get to deal with the poison that is Aarni)

When opposites attract, it’s not just the team that’s in for a shake-up.

When a stipulation in his father’s will throws Mark back into a family that had disowned him, he has only two things on his mind: buying his way out of contractual obligations and running in the opposite direction as fast as he can. When neither option pans out, he finds he is now a one-third owner of the struggling Arizona Raptors hockey team, and that is just about the worst thing that could have happened to him.

Not only does he hate hockey, but the Raptors are a bottom-of-the-league team, rife with jealousies and anger in a locker room that only knows self-pity. How is he supposed to help turn things around when the only way to start fixing things is to form an alliance with the estranged siblings he’d run from fifteen years earlier?

Then there’s Rowen Carmichael, a stubborn, opinionated, irritating man with superiority issues and questionable taste in music. Butting heads with Rowen, who he’d never even wanted to hire in the first place, is one thing, but there is no way in hell that he will allow the growing attraction to the new coach become anything more. Until, with everything on the line, he has to make decisions that will change his life forever.

After years of collegiate coaching, Rowen is made an offer that he simply can’t refuse, although perhaps he should. When he’s presented with the chance to take one of the worst teams in the league and mold them into a future cup contender, the challenge is just too alluring to pass up. He leaves his beloved Ontario behind and moves west to the arid city of Tucson where he is faced with a broken team, shoddy management, and players overflowing with resentment and bigotry.

Never in his twenty years of hockey has he ever seen such a raging dumpster fire of an organization. Yet there’s something about this team and this city that compels him to roll up his sleeves and start dismantling. He has his eye on a new associate coach who’s bound to make waves, and several key players who should be sent packing.

Now all he has to do is convince the new owners of the team that his choices are for the best. If only Mark Westman-Reid, one of three siblings who now own the Raptors, wasn’t so damned rock-headed, so damned snooty, and so damned appealing, his job might be a bit easier.
