“For reminding me why I keep on fighting,” came the soft reply.
The statement warmed him through to his core, more powerful than any declaration of love Gideon could make. Jess knew he would never doubt Gideon’s feelings for him—not after this implicit comparison to the woman who had turned his entire existence around. He now knew exactly what he meant to Gideon, and what they meant to each other. It was almost overwhelming to be loved like that, but Jesse hoped to have a long time to become accustomed to it.
Gideon’s breath became increasingly irregular as he drifted to sleep, and Jess pressed his lips against Gideon’s neck.
“I’m always going to love you,” he whispered, before his own eyes fell shut.
