What had happened in the past couple of minutes to make her go from wanting to be more than friends to repulsion? She had to be screwed up in the head to be falling for a man she didn’t know.
“It’s too bad because I’m not interested in Tyler in any way. It is best that he finds another woman to be with because I’m not her.”
“You at least have to tell him that, Kayla. He seems to be waiting for you,” Noah told her.
“I’ll talk to him about it and clear this up.”
Chapter 4
Tyler stormed out of the room and up to the counter where he knew the vampire sat.
“Look, vampire,” he hissed from behind, making him spin around to look at him.
“What, doggie? I’m not in the mood to play tonight,” the vampire said low.
Tyler snarled and before he could control it, slapped the drink out of the vampire’s hand. The vampire looked at him, his eyes turning red as his fangs lengthened in his mouth. Tyler stepped back when the vampire stood. He knew that at this stage, he didn’t have all his strength, but being so close to the full moon, he could take down a vampire.
“You owe me a drink.”
The waitress looked nervously at him before running off. He knew she was going to get help, but he didn’t care.
Tyler pushed his limits, wanting to fight with the vampire to get rid of some of the aggression built up inside him. He pushed the vampire in the chest, making him stumble for a moment.
“Now, you are one dead pup,” the vampire snarled, then charged him.
Tyler took his stance, ready to fight.
“Hey! What the hell is going on up here?” The voice of another vampire made both of them stop their movements.
The other vampire walked between them. Seconds later, two other vampires with Bouncer written on their shirts made their way up to them.
The vampire he incited jumped at him again.
“Do it, you undead bastard, and I’ll tear your throat out.”
“Try it and I’ll pick my teeth with your bones.”
“God dammit, hold on!” the owner yelled.
The bouncers grabbed both of them, pulling them apart.
“Ian, what the fuck is going on?”
The one he provoked, the one called Ian, snarled at him before looking at the other vampire.
“I don’t know, Logan. I’m here drinking, and this wolf decided to come up and knock my drink out of my hand. He’s lucky I didn’t tear his throat out.”
“Lucky! Lucky? Only one who’s lucky is you, vampire. You have your friends here to save you. If we were outside, I would pull out your fangs myself.”
“Wolf, give it a rest,” Logan told him. “Is it true what Ian says?”
Tyler took a deep breath. He tried to release himself from the vampires holding him, but to no anvil. “Yes. Tell this vampire not to use his mind control on my girl.”
“What the hell are you talking about? I didn’t use any mind control on anyone.”
“Yes you did,” Tyler snarled, then charged at the vampire again, but the bouncer held him at bay.
“Logan, this wolf is crazy. I didn’t use any mind control on any woman. I don’t have to use mind control to get a woman’s attention.”
Tyler pulled away from the bouncer, then lunged at the vampire. He was snatched up again before he could make contact.
“Tyler!” Kayla’s voice stopped him in his tracks. “What are you doing?”
Everyone turned to Kayla at the sound of her voice. Tyler didn’t know what to say to Kayla. He couldn’t tell her that he was trying to beat up a vampire for using mind control on her. But there was no other way to explain what happened earlier to Kayla. Vampires were sneaky bastards who lured women to them to drink from them. This vampire had to know that Kayla was untouched and he wanted her blood, her virgin blood. There was no way in the hell he would give her to him. No matter what he had to do, he would protect Kayla from him.
“Nothing,” Tyler snapped, then snatched away from the bouncer.
Kayla placed her hand on her hips. “Doesn’t look like nothing to me, Tyler.”
Kayla sighed, then walked up to Ian. Tyler watched them closely. Kayla looked into the vampire’s eyes, her first mistake because he could take over her mind. She smiled at him, which sent anger flowing through Tyler. He clenched his hand, ready to launch at the vampire for making her do his will. He had to be mind-controlling her, as there was no other explanation.
“Sir, can you tell me what’s going on here?”
When the vampire smiled back at Kayla, Tyler wanted to change to wolf form and rip his throat out. He would sacrifice everything with Kayla just to kill this undead bastard.
“Well your boyfriend—”
“He’s not my boyfriend,” Kayla cut in quickly.
“Sorry, your friend thought that earlier when you looked at me, I was trying to take you away from your friends. He decided that my drink wasn’t worth drinking and slapped it out of my hand.”
Kayla looked at Tyler. He could see the anger in her eyes. She didn’t know that he was trying to protect her, not upset her. If she only knew what a vampire was capable of. Mind control was just the beginning. They also took blood from humans while changing those who were worthy into vampires. That was the worst out of everything to him, being a vampire.
“Tyler,” Kayla said his name, bringing him back to reality. “How could you do that to this man?”
“It wasn’t like that.”
“Then how was it like, Tyler?”
Tyler looked away from him, trying to figure out how to put this in a way that didn’t freak her out.
Kayla sighed at his stalling. “How about I buy you another drink, would that be all right with you?”
The vampire shook his head.
“No? Then what are you going to do to him?”
“He’s going to get banned from my club for life,” Logan told her.
“No,” Ian jumped in. “Don’t do that, Logan. All will be well if the young lady would dance with me just once.”
“What? Hell no!” Tyler screamed.
Kayla turned to him. “What do you mean no? I can dance with anyone I want to, and to keep you from getting banned for something so stupid, I would gladly dance with him.”
Tyler watched a smile spread across the vampire’s face. He reached his hand to Kayla who didn’t hesitate and took it.
“One dance,” Kayla said to him and followed the vampire down the staircase.
* * * *
Kayla didn’t know why she had agreed to dance with the stranger. She told Tyler she was doing it for him, but she knew better. She wanted to find out who this man was. She had told the others she was heading to the restroom, but she knew she only came out to get a closer look at the stranger. She didn’t expect to see him and Tyler getting into an altercation. She really didn’t expect him to ask her to dance. Maybe he did it because of Tyler, but in any case, she didn’t care.
The moment his hand touched hers, a sensation zigzagged through her, starting from where they touched, moving through her entire body. She wondered if he felt it also because the moment the feeling went through her, he stopped walking, stared at her for a moment, before continuing to lead her to the dance floor.
The instant they made it to the dance floor, the music changed, it figured, to a slower more romantic tempo. The man led her through the bodies on the dance floor to a space where they could dance and not touch anyone. He turned to her, placed his hands on her waist and began to sway to the music. It took several moments before she could look up into his face.
“Hey there,” he said with a smile on his face.
“Hi,” she whispered.
“Thank you for agreeing to dance with me.”
“No problem. I don’t want my friend banned. I’m so sorry that he knocked your drink out of your hand.”
“It’s okay. I feel that it’s worth the loss to get to dance with you.”
Kayla moved
with him, their bodies moving as one. Everything around them faded. She couldn’t hear the music any longer. Everyone else around them faded until only she and he danced on the floor. The feel of the man’s hands on her waist and the heat radiating off his body matched hers. She tried relaxing more, trying to forget what was happening around her and only focus on dancing with him. She placed her arms around his neck, moving closer to him. Their bodies touched for only a moment. During that moment she swore she heard him moan at the brief contact. Or was it she who had moaned? Thinking wasn’t an option at this moment, only feeling something she never experienced in her life.
Another electric shock traveled through her body as his hand moved lower on her back. Her pussy throbbed with a need she’d never felt before. How could a dance change to something sexual so quickly? For her that is. She didn’t know what he felt. Maybe he didn’t feel anything at all. Maybe this was all in her head. Had her sexual need finally overwhelmed her and now she wanted, needed, to be fulfilled?
His hands moved lower to her waist, then slid up a little, pushing her shirt up just a tad. The second his hands touched her bare skin, her fingers clenched.
Oh geez! What was happening to her? She wasn’t only getting turned on from just a dance, but she was enjoying it. Did he know what his touch did to her? How just his hands on her skin had her needing to change her now soaking panties? She didn’t know if he knew, but the smile on his face gave him away.
Kayla didn’t know how much she could push the limits, but she wanted to tease him as much as he was teasing her. He was taller than her, making it harder to keep her arms around his neck with the distance between them.
Another slow song followed the last and she wanted to thank the DJ. She looked away from him, wrapped her arms around his neck more, making it impossible to have space between them. The second their bodies touched again, Kayla’s pussy pulsed, clenching with need. It throbbed harder, begging to be touched, needing to be touched by him. No other person could put out this fire building inside her but him. Kayla craved only him at this moment.
The man moaned low, but didn’t pull away. Kayla felt strong at this moment, stronger than she had ever felt.
The man’s hand began to move on her waist, and he held her close to him. Kayla smiled at the feel of his obvious need pressing against her stomach.
He leaned closer to her and she thought he was going to kiss her until he moved towards her ear. Why did she want him to kiss her? Why not would be a more obvious question?
“My dear, I don’t even know your name and I think that it would be more of an appropriate start than what is happening.”
“I’m…I’m sorry,” Kayla said, but she knew what she was doing. Instead of pulling away from him, she rocked her hips more, enjoying the friction her jeans were causing.
“I feel that you are not sorry,” he said, softly. “My name is Ian Delancy, and I don’t usually get aroused from a dance with a beautiful woman.”
Kayla laughed. She knew exactly what he meant because she didn’t either. “I’m Kayla Louis, and I bet you say that to all the beautiful women you dance with.”
Ian shook his head. “No, my lovely, I don’t. I don’t dance much.” He stood straight again and sighed when the music went from slow to a faster pace.
Kayla wanted to scream at the DJ for changing the tempo. She was enjoying teasing this man, and she wanted to see how much more she could tantalize him.
“I have to thank you for that dance and the fact that I can’t sit for a few moments.”
Kayla threw her head back and laughed as he let go of her. “You’re welcome. It’s nice to meet you, Ian.”
“It was a pleasure, Kayla.”
Kayla waited a moment, eagerly wishing that Ian would call her back, drag her to some dark corner and do wicked things to her. When he began to walk away from the dance floor, she took a deep breath and made her way back to her friends.
* * * *
Ian didn’t lie to Kayla when he told her he wouldn’t be able to sit down for a moment. He had hardened the moment their bodies made contact the first time. It surprised him that just a touch from this human had him harder than he had ever gotten with Meagan. The second time she wrapped her arms around his neck and danced closer to him, he hadn’t had time to respond or to move away, so she wouldn’t feel his arousal.
Kayla couldn’t hide her need as well. He noticed her arousal coming off her in waves. They washed over him, almost dragging him away into a sea of ecstasy. He doubted she would have stopped him from sliding his hand into her jeans to touch her soaking passage. If they would have had one more slow song he probably would have. One thing he noticed about the young woman was she had never had sex with a man. She was a virgin. Not many around over the age of eighteen these days. Maybe her pureness was why this wolf had a claim on her. For a wolf to mate with a pure human could result in very healthy offspring.
Maybe that’s what the wolf wanted, but he doubted she felt the same way about Tyler, or him, as a matter of fact. The fact that electricity went through him every time they touched made him wonder why Kayla made him feel things he never felt before. He never had a feeling of need like he had with her. He also knew that when their dance ended, Kayla wanted more from him, but he couldn’t do what came naturally to him. He hadn’t used mind control on her and he doubted he’d have to use it to make her have sex with him. He didn’t want to get too involved with Kayla. He still had Meagan to deal with.
“Brother, what was that all about?” Logan came up to him as he made his way back to the blue room.
“What are you talking about?”
Kayla walked up the steps. He watched her as she made her way into the room. It took all the will he had to not walk into that room and take her the way his body demanded.
“The female, you seem to have an attachment to her.”
Ian turned his attention back to his brother. “I don’t have an attachment to her.”
“Like hell you don’t, but if you want to deny it, then it’s up to you.”
“I’m not denying anything. There’s nothing to deny, Logan.”
“Alright, if it’s not an attachment, then you want to have sex with her. You can’t deny that.”
Ian couldn’t deny his sexual need even if he wanted to. Their arousal filled the room and any being could detect it. “So what,” Ian snapped.
“Well then go get her. She wants you, brother. I thought your pipes didn’t work, but I am guessing it only works with someone you want to be with and vice versa. Take the human girl. You’re going to be here for a month or so. Get to know her, take her to your bed. Be the vampire that you were born to be.”
Ian snorted. Logan was considered a sexual vampire. Unlike humans, vampires had a higher sexual need. They could have many orgasms back to back and still be hard for more. He had suppressed his needs for so long that he had forgotten what a real need felt like. Kayla made him remember what sexual desire was. “I am who I am, and I’m not sleeping with her.”
“You’re such a wimp. Anyhow, here’s the plan for tonight, brother. We close at three, and we can go out and make sure no killers are in the area. I need to make sure that my customers get home safe.”
“That sounds like a plan. I’m going to have a drink.”
“Okay. Have fun.”

“What was he like?” Julia asked the moment Kayla made it inside the room.
“Where are the men?” Kayla asked, not wanting them to walk in on her telling them about what happened.
“They went dancing. Tyler was pissed off that you went with that guy. He grabbed some random girl and is now grinding with her on the dance floor.”
Kayla sat beside Julia.
“So, who was he?” Julia asked again.
“Yes, give details,” Amanda pushed.
“I don’t know much about him besides his name, which is Ian Delancy and…” Kayla smiled.
“And what?” Julia asked.
“Well, he got extremely turned on while we were dancing. He said he never gets turned on from dancing.”
“You believed him?” Amanda questioned.
“Yes, because I was turned on also,” Kayla whispered.
“What was that?” Julia asked.
“You heard me!”
“Yeah I did, but I wanted to hear you say it again. So the man turned you on from a dance? Wow, he must be very handsome up close.”
Kayla shrugged. “I can’t tell with all these different lightings. Maybe it’s the fact that I can’t see him that excites me or the sound of his voice.”
“He has a sexy voice?” Amanda inquired.
“Oh, yes he does, Amanda. He has one of those deep, skin-tingling voices. I think once he said hi, I was gone.”
The girls laughed as the men made it back into the room.
“I see you made it back from dancing with him,” Tyler snapped.
Kayla frowned. “What’s your problem, Tyler?”
Tyler looked at her. “My problem is that you go and take the side of some man you don’t know. You go out to the dance floor, grinding against him like some whore—”
“Whore?” Kayla interrupted. “Watch what the hell you say to me. I’m not yours and never will be yours. I didn’t get upset that you were dancing with some female a moment ago. Does that make her a whore? She didn’t know you.”
“Yes,” Tyler growled.
“Whoa, man, take it easy,” Noah jumped in.
“Stay out of this, Noah,” Tyler snapped. “You don’t know the half of what’s going on. She’s doing stupid things and I am only trying to protect her.”
“Protect her by calling her a whore? How is that protecting her?” Julia yelled.
Tyler folded his arms across his chest, watching all of them closely. “I only call it as I see it.”
“You know what, I’m out of here. I don’t have to take being spoken to like this from anyone.” Kayla walked past Tyler and out the door. The moment she made it out the door, he grabbed her wrist.
