Special Delivery: Father's Day: An Mpreg Romance Collection Page 14

I was relieved that she’d accepted me so completely. There was no hint of jealousy or bitterness. Just a sweet little kid whose love knew no bounds. I was lucky.

I’d moved in with Frank three months after finding out I was pregnant. Of course, it would have been sooner under normal circumstances, but we’d wanted Ellie to get used to me so it wouldn’t be an abrupt transition, and I was glad we’d taken our time. Besides, I’d continued working all summer and had spent plenty of time there with Frank.

The only thing I missed was college. I’d gone back in September and finished the fall semester, but then I’d decided to take a year off to be with Erin. School would still be there next winter.

“Is he sleeping?” Frank asked quietly. Erin was resting on his shoulder and Frank couldn’t see his face.

I nodded, and suddenly felt a pang of love so strong that my eyes stung with tears of happiness.

“I’m the luckiest omega in the world.”

He leaned in toward me, careful not to disturb Erin, and I met him halfway for a quick but meaningful kiss.

Frank’s eyes shone with love when he pulled away. “Not as lucky as I am. I’m yours for always.”

  Harley

I was on the prowl. Stalking for sustenance, something to fill the hunger I had burning inside of me.

Or at least it felt that way. I never was very good at the whole bar scene, and I was completely out of practice. It had been a year or more since I had gone out for the sole purpose of getting laid.

But here I was, wearing a borrowed pair of leather pants and a tight tank top, walking into a nightclub. My friend Joel assured me that I wouldn’t be out of place and I wasn’t too old to be looking for Mr. Right-For-The-Night at the club. Damn, I hoped he was right.

  I wasn’t old, I was only twenty-six. I just felt old because I had a five-year-old.

Even before having him, I never went to places like this. But Joel talked me into it and I would be lying if I said I didn’t think he was right. I needed to get laid.

I held my head high as I walked to the bar, trying not to appear desperate. I didn’t even look around at the alphas who were checking me out. And I knew they were, I could feel their eyes on me.

The music was too loud, and there were so many people. My head throbbed. Damn. Maybe this was not a good idea. Was it too late to go to a quiet bar? Did those exist? Why wasn’t it socially acceptable to pick up alphas at the library?

“Water, please.” I had to shout to the bartender so he could hear me and I got a few odd looks when all I ordered was water, but I wasn’t about to be under the influence of anything if I was going to pick up a random alpha.

I sat with my bottle of water, my back to the bar facing the dance floor. There was a lot to look at. Alphas and omegas grinding against one another, some were almost naked. It was hot, that was undeniable. I had to adjust in my seat as my erection grew.

My vision was blocked by an alpha. A very tall, good looking alpha.

“Hey gorgeous,” he said as he stepped closer to me, his chest at eye level almost touching me. He reeked of a combination of cheap cologne and even cheaper beer.

I looked up at him, not bothering to paste on a smile. “Hi.”

“I’ll buy you a drink. Let’s get a cranberry vodka for this omega,” he shouted to the bartender. “Once you’ve finished that, I’ll take you to my place.”

Well, that was easy. Only, I was not into being bossed around and I didn’t even like vodka. Ugh. He was gorgeous and he knew it, but I wasn’t into it.

“No thank you.” I put a hand to his chest and gently pushed him away, hoping to get some air so I could breathe again. He grabbed my hand and squeezed, not letting me go.

He got closer, his breath hit my face in a wave of nasty stench. “No isn’t an option, omega. C’mon, let’s dance.”

Oh, hell no. I tugged my hand away. Before I could give him the shove he deserved a man was between us, another alpha. Only this one smelled like heaven instead of a brewery.

“He said no Kurt. How about you go sleep it off, huh?”

“Fuck you, Devon. I saw him first.”

The alpha stepped forward, and much to my surprise, the other alpha, Kurt stepped back and cowered. Devon towered over him, he had to be well over six feet and built like a brick house. His biceps were about as big around as my waist. “You were saying?”

Others arrived and pulled Kurt away. I let out a breath. My heart beat rapidly in my chest.

  “Thank you,” I said.

The alpha turned around and flashed me a wide smile. “Don’t mention it.” He began to walk away, but I grasped his arm.

“Can I buy you a drink? As a thank you.” The gross alpha was gone, but the experience wasn’t all bad if it meant I got to spend more time with this one.

My back slammed against the door of the hotel room. We had procured the honeymoon suite according to the man at the front desk. It was a cheap hotel, but not sleazy.

Devon’s mouth was on mine. The taste of him filled my senses. His tongue explored and plundered, and I welcomed it.

I’d gone out to find a hookup and I’d hit the jackpot.

Devon was funny, sexy, built like a model out of a men’s fitness magazine. Every omega’s wet dream.

“We need to stop.” His breath came in heavy pants.

“What? Why?” My legs wrapped around Devon’s waist and I gripped the collar of his shirt to steady myself. I didn’t have any alcohol, but I was drunk on him.

“I have to open the door,” he said.

“Oh. Right.” I unlinked my ankles and slid down him like a pole. His hard cock rubbed against my groin and I groaned.

He opened the door and as soon as we were inside, I pounced. I tugged at his shirt, and he unbuckled his pants.

Once we were both naked, I laid on the bed. He walked toward me, like a lion stalking its prey. His muscles rippled as he walked and my mouth watered.

He stroked his cock and licked his lips. I spread my legs for him. “Please. I need you.”

“I’ve never left an omega wanting.”

He covered his cock with a condom and I had a pang of longing, wishing he could go bareback. But that was silly. I was already a single dad to one child, I didn’t need another. That one child wasn’t a result of my own pregnancy though. My son was mine because my alpha brother had died and left him to me.

Devon’s lips found mine again as he pressed a finger to my aching hole. I bucked my hips, wanting him inside me as soon as possible.

Two fingers filled me, stretching my hole. My body accepted him, wanting to be as close to him as possible.

Devon had spent the last few hours making me laugh, telling me stories of his childhood in Colorado. I’d gotten attached, I knew that now, but nothing could come of it. I didn’
t have time to date, even if this guy was perfect, amazing and so incredibly sexy.

He peppered kisses down my neck. Each touch of his lips set my skin aflame. I moaned and caressed his back. His cock breached my hole and he slid home, burying himself to the hilt.

“Oh fuck, you’re big.” I groaned as my body stretched in the most delicious way to accommodate him.

He chuckled and smiled at me. “Thanks.”

“Fuck me, please. I need it.”

“I live to serve.” With each movement, his cock grazed against my prostate. I gripped the sheets and held on for the ride. My own cock ached for release, but I knew if I touched it, the whole thing would be over.

  “You’re so tight, omega.”

His voice, his scent, his lips against my neck. I couldn’t take it. My release came quickly, cum splashed between us. Coating his chest and mine. His muscles grew tight and he thrust one last time, deeper than ever as he roared his release.

  “Oh fuck!”

My fingertips dug into his back as I held him against me, clinging on to him with everything I had. He pressed a long slow kiss to my lips.

After a long moment, he withdrew from me. I missed the connection immediately, though he was right next to me.

Had it been so long since I’d had adult contact that I was growing attached to the first alpha that paid any attention to me? Or was he that amazing?

I watched his ass flex as he walked to the bathroom.

It was him. He was that amazing. Too bad the circumstances weren’t different.

He cleaned me up with a warm rag and I enjoyed the attention. I couldn’t remember the last time an alpha had taken care of me like this. Maybe it had never happened.

He tossed the rag to the floor and climbed back into the bed. He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me close. “This okay?”

I nodded, resting my head against his chest. “It’s perfect.”

Soon I’d have to say my goodbyes and leave, or sneak out once he fell asleep. My son was coming home early in the morning and I wanted to be there to greet him. Until then, I could at least enjoy this alpha’s company for a little while longer. I wasn’t likely to find another one like him. It wasn’t in my future, but for a moment I could dream.

I sat down at the park bench and watched as the kids played on the playground. It was twenty minutes past three o'clock, which was the normal time that the children got out of school. Usually, I went home straight after work since I didn't have any after school care responsibilities. But today, one of my newest students, Asher, hadn't gotten picked up from school by his father.

Out of all my students, I'd yet to meet his dad, because he didn't answer emails or phone calls, and he hadn't come to the teacher meet and greet.

“You know you can go home?” my coworker, and fellow kindergarten teacher, Joel said.

“I know, but I really need to meet Asher's dad.”

“He's a good guy,” Joel said. “I know him. He just moved here.”

“If he’s so great, then why hasn't he attended any of the events? And why is he late to pick up his son?” Unfortunately, I had encountered plenty of parents that did the bare minimum or even less for their children. I was starting to think that was the case with Asher’s dad.

“He called the office right at three o'clock and explained that he was stuck in traffic. There was an accident on Francis Road and he had to take a detour. He doesn't know the area very well.”

  “How do you know him?”

“We met in college and kept in touch. When he was looking for a new place to settle, I recommended here.”

“I’m sure he’s great, but I still want to meet him. It’s Asher’s first year in school and his dad should be involved.”

“Asher!” a voice called from behind me.

“And now's my chance.” I stood up, turned around, coming face to face with the man that had starred in my dreams for the past three weeks. The one that got away. Or something like that. More like the one that had disappeared in the middle of the night after a night of amazing sex.

I sucked in a breath. His name was on the tip of my tongue, but for the life of me, I couldn’t remember it. I felt awful about it, but had he not sneaked out that night, I would have learned it. Had I had his last name, I would have tried to find him.

“See, he's here. Harley,” Joel called out and waved.

Harley waved back but stilled when he saw me.

Shit. How was it possible that the one hook up I'd had for the first time in months just happened to be the father to one of my students?

There was a scuffle on the playground and Joel was called away. I took a step toward Harley and reached out a hand when I got to him.

“I'm Devin Gannon, your son's teacher,” I said.

He shook my hand tentatively. “Hi,” he said. He dropped my hand quickly and ran a hand through his hair. “This is awkward.”

I chuckled. “Yeah, it is. I've been trying to get ahold of you, not because of the other night, but—”

“I know. I'm so sorry. Your number kept coming up weird, so I thought it was a scam call. But then when I finally took a look at Asher's paperwork for kindergarten I realized it was yours and I meant to call back. I'm really sorry. I'm not some sort of uninvolved parent, I promise.”

“I didn't think that,” I lied. Perhaps I had, but he didn't need to know that.

“Dad!” Asher came running and launched into Harley's arms.

“Hey! I’m sorry I was late, buddy.”

“It’s okay. This is Mr. G. He's great.” Asher’s wide smile and blue eyes sparkled in the sun. His excitement was contagious.

“That's awesome,” Harley said. “So, you had a good first day?”

  “I did!”

That warmed my heart to hear. Sometimes it was hard for kids to start in the middle of a school year with a new class, but Asher was a trooper.

“Good. I want to hear all about it. Why don't you go get your bag and we'll get home? I've got dinner in the oven already.”

“Awesome!” Asher jumped down and ran towards the picnic table where he had left his backpack.

“So, this isn't going to be awkward, right? Because of… you know.” Harley’s cheeks flushed red and he shifted his feet.

“No, of course not. I mean, it was just a one-time thing. No big deal.”

“Let's just forget it happened.” Harley shrugged one shoulder.

  “Right. Easy peasy.”

“Lemon squeezy!” Asher said as he came back.

I grinned. That was one of the phrases I used with the kids often, and apparently Asher had caught on.

Harley laughed heartily. “Exactly, buddy. It was really nice to meet you, Mr. G. I look forward to having Asher in your class.”

  “Thanks,” I said. “Me too.”

He held Asher’s hand and the two of them started toward the parking lot. “I guess we'll see you around.”

“Yeah. We will.” Every day for the next year. Every night in my dreams. Christ, it was going to be a long year.

  Harley

I sat at my computer desk, but couldn't concentrate on the task at hand. Normally when my son was home from school, I didn't work. But I was slightly behind. I blamed the fatigue at having not slept well for the past few nights. But really, it was due to running into Devon again. He had plagued my thoughts, my dreams, my fantasies since that night.

I hated that I missed him and wondered about him. I had been tempted to return to the club to see if I would run into him again, but I hadn’t worked up the nerve. Well, wonder no more. Devon Gannon was my son's kindergarten teacher. Which meant he was completely off-limits.

I don't know who I had wronged in another life for this cruel twist of fate. But there it was.

It was hard for me to picture Devon as a kindergarten teacher, but he had been there clear as day, and my son couldn't stop talking about him. “Mr. G. this” and
“Mr. G. that” and “Mr. G. sat down with us at snack time and his favorite snack is Oreos, just like me.”

“Dad!” Asher shouted from the living room. The slam of the screen door had me groaning. That could mean only one thing.

“Asher, did you accidentally let Spot out?” Adopting a dog so soon after moving into the new house may have been a bad idea. We’d adopted an older dog, which I thought meant we’d get a lazy one we could love and give a forever home to. But Spot was adventuresome and energetic, kind of like Asher.

“I didn't mean to. He just moved really fast.”

I closed my laptop and got up from my desk. “That's all right, buddy.” I walked into the hallway from my office. It was not too far from the living room, where Asher was playing with his dinosaurs. The kid was obsessed, and I couldn't blame him, dinosaurs were pretty cool.

“Let's go see if we can get him.”

“Are you finished with your work?”

I ruffled Asher’s hair. “Yeah, I'm done for the day.” I wasn't getting anything accomplished anyway. I stepped out into our backyard, still in shock that all this space belonged to us. Never in a million years had I thought that I'd be able to own a place like this.

For the first couple of years after I’d gotten custody of Asher, I struggled financially, but this last year I landed my dream job working from home. I made my own hours and programmed websites for a company and it paid well. I couldn't argue with that. The job allowed me to spend more time with Asher, which was amazing.

“Spot?” I called out. A familiar bark came from my left. Spot had wandered into our neighbor's yard. I hadn't met anyone on the block yet, we'd only been here for a week or so. I hadn't caught sight of any of them either. Hopefully, they were friendly. “Come on Spot!” I called the dog, but he continued to bark from atop the neighbors back deck.
