They lined up for the next faceoff even though it was a formality since they had three seconds on the clock. Scotty won the final faceoff and sent the puck over towards Wheels. Wheels then played keep away until the final horn went off.
The whole team congratulated each other. The Stanley Cup was brought out. The guys all took turns hoisting it.
As soon as Scotty hoisted it, he had to ask Alice about his crazy plan. Until then he was just as happy as the rest of The Sound. He passed the Cup towards Lager and ended up getting flagged for an on-ice interview.
After what felt like hours, the party shifted to the locker room and the conference room. Scotty switched out of the sweaty gear for some dry clothes, although they didn’t stay dry for too long as bottles of champagne and beer were being sprayed everywhere.
Finally, he saw his Alice. He loved that she was so excited to see him. He also loved the fact that her hair was down. She rushed him for one of the biggest celebratory hugs he’d ever received. He swore he heard someone say something, but it was muffled by the noise in the room. He pushed Alice’s hair behind her ears as he looked deeply into her eyes. He said, “Hey Al, would it be super crazy if we got married with the cup?”
“What?” asked Alice. She was clearly caught off guard but she didn’t deny him.
“Would it be crazy if we got married with the cup?”
She laughed and said, “Yeah, kinda.”
He pitched his full idea. “So, I know you want a church wedding and I will give you that. I promise. But let’s get married at city hall next month and have a small reception with our friends and family on my day with the Cup.”
She laughed and said, “You are insane.”
He had her. He’d meant every word he’d said: he would give her the wedding of her dreams but he was hoping they could do both. He smiled with his cocky grin that she loved. “But you like that about me. So what do you say?”
“Okay. Why not?”
Scotty just kissed her and swung her around. He’d never known everything could just fall into place. It was perfect. He literally had everything that he wanted. He relished the moment with her.

So of course I want to thank my family. My sister has such a big heart and is raising an amazing little girl. I love my niece so much and it’s been awesome to have someone to share my love of Gritty and hockey with.
I have to do a special shout out to my close group of friends. Lisa, you have been amazing person of support and help with everything. Having you to be a person to go turn to for story ideas and editing alone was a huge help and I wouldn’t have a final product without you. Add in all the personal support over the year, you are amazing. To Jill and Mykey. You guys have been amazing and helpful where I always have someone to talk to and while I may turn to you for different reasons but I do value all the support that you give me. Plus Mykey saved this release and I’m so incredibly grateful. To my friend Doug, it's been great to have a writing friend to verbalize some plot points.
To my friends in the Level Up Romance Writers Sprints Room and Coffee & Character Sprint Room. I've learned so much from you guys. I've made some great friends and you helped me to finish this project in a record amount of time just by asking "Did you write words?" every twenty five minutes. Never judgmental but always held accountable. I wouldn't have such wonderful formatting if wasn't for B. Ivy Woods. Thanks to Aidy Award for helping me to get amazing covers. Thanks also to Ellie Pond, Dylann Crush, Danielle Romero, Sarah Urquhart and Selena Ward.
Last but not least, to the readers. While the book is personal and it has allowed me to process so much, I want people to read the book. To get early feedback and praise from my beta readers has been great. Thank you!
