ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Thank you, Karthika V.K., for immediate recall of manuscript when accosted at a Bangalore book launch. I really liked it, you said, and I floated on air for the rest of the evening.

Thank you, Bidisha Ganguly, for being the point-person on aforementioned manuscript, as well as for the frequent handouts of much appreciated hope.

Thank you, Manasi Subramaniam, your enthusiasm was most infectious.

Thank you, Sohini Basak, my amazing editor, and sorry for confounding you with the ever-changing eye colour of my heroine! It was a pleasure working with you.

And then, thank you, Charlotte Lamb, queen among romance writers. Her books combine red-hot romance with substantial slice-of-life stories and she is the reason this diehard cynic has tried her hand at crafting a romance.

Celebrating 25 Years of Great Publishing

HarperCollins India celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary in 2017. Twenty-five years of publishing India’s finest writers and some of its most memorable books – those you cannot put down; ones you want to finish reading yet don’t want to end; works you can read over and over again only to fall deeper in love with.

Through the years, we have published writers from the Indian subcontinent, and across the globe, including Aravind Adiga, Kiran Nagarkar, Amitav Ghosh, Jhumpa Lahiri, Manu Joseph, Anuja Chauhan, Upamanyu Chatterjee, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Shekhar Gupta, M.J. Akbar, Satyajit Ray, Gulzar, Surender Mohan Pathak and Anita Nair, amongst others, with approximately 200 new books every year and an active print and digital catalogue of more than 1,000 titles, across ten imprints. Publishing works of various genres including literary fiction, poetry, mind body spirit, commercial fiction, journalism, business, self-help, cinema, biographies – all with attention to quality, of the manuscript and the finished product – it comes as no surprise that we have won every major literary award including the Man Booker Prize, the Sahitya Akademi Award, the DSC Prize, the Hindu Literary Prize, the MAMI Award for Best Writing on Cinema, the National Award for Best Book on Cinema, the Crossword Book Award, and the Publisher of the Year, twice, at Publishing Next in Goa and, in 2016, at Tata Literature Live, Mumbai.

We credit our success to the people who make us who we are, and will be celebrating this anniversary with: our authors, retailers, partners, readers and colleagues at HarperCollins India. Over the years, a firm belief in our promise and our passion to deliver only the very best of the printed word has helped us become one of India’s finest in publishing. Every day we endeavour to deliver bigger and better – for you.

Thank you for your continued support and patronage.

  About the Book

‘THE KISS CAUGHT FIRE, GROWING MORE

  URGENT, MORE INTIMATE,

ITS TENOR CHANGING RAPIDLY AS THEIR

  MOUTHS FUSED AND CLUNG.’

They make each other breathless. Their kisses are dangerous.

Their chemistry is simply off the charts.

Samar Pratap Singh and Nina Sabharwal can’t seem to keep their hands off each other. Yet, they don’t quite trust each other either: he thinks she’s eyeing bigger fish, she’s convinced he’s a heartbreaker. They have both decided that falling in love is simply not an option – no strings attached is how they roll. Only, the fact that they have to see each other at work every day makes situations stickier, and the more their lives become intertwined, the more they realize that love – a real and lasting love – is just a leap of faith away. But will they make that leap? Can they?

  About the Author

Sheila Kumar is an independent writer and manuscript editor, as well as author of a collection of short stories titled Kith and Kin. On a more personal note, she has a dual personality: there is SK, the rock music-loving, tai chi-practising free spirit and there is Mrs Kumar, the colonel’s wife, all chiffon and pearls. Sheila Kumar has given up trying to integrate the two.
