I’m here. I’m okay. See if you can find Kady and Ash. I need them.
He didn’t respond, but she could feel his relief. If she could hold out until her sisters got here, maybe together they could help Scarlet, help their baby sister.
“Your lion can’t help you now. None of them can. Only I can save you.”
Fed was close, she could feel him. Whatever spell Scarlet had surrounded them in prevented her from sensing anyone else. Hopefully he’d brought Kady and Ash and they could work together to get to her and Scarlet.
“Save me from what? We’ve defeated the soul stealers. Isn’t that what you wanted?” Tia hadn’t understood that until they’d been on the battlefield and captured Ash. Only then had Scarlet let it slip.
It had to be why she’d made Tia help create more of them, so that she could practice destroying them. As far as Tia knew, Scarlet had never destroyed any spectral.
“You’re either stupid or—” Scarlet tipped her head to the side as if hearing something.
Tia heard nothing, but knew Fed was even closer.
“Ah, ah, ah, little kitty. You can’t have her anymore. I need her too much.” Scarlet through a hand out to the left, throwing a spell to where Tia sensed Fed was.
She had almost nothing left and pulled upon her own life force to send her own spell crashing into Scarlet’s and block it from hurting Fed. The two spells shattered into each other and crashed into the cloaking spell’s field around them.
Tia fell back down into the grass and held her eyes open long enough to see a crack in the cloak opened up. It was big enough for her to spot Fed, Kady, and Ash standing right at the edge. Fed leaped inside and barreled into Scarlet, snarling and clawing at her.
Tia closed her eyes, the magic had taken too much of a toll on her soul. She wanted to live. Her life with Fed waited for her.
She also didn’t want her baby sister to die. She wanted to help heal her broken soul. Like finding Fed and her family had for her.
Tia never thought she had a choice in her own happiness. No say in her life.
She’d been wrong. All along she could have made the decision to confront Scarlet and find out what was driving her into the darkness. She’d told herself for years that whatever it was must be too horrible and that she couldn’t possibly do anything about it.
The power to find her way out of the darkness had always been within her, she’s just never reached for it, scared that it wouldn’t be there.
You know what, she asked herself now, as she lay dying, you need to stop being scared. It’s not who you are.
She was not dying. Not today. Because Fed had said where she goes, he goes. She had better stay right here.
A new energy filled her body. It came from her heart.
Tia opened her eyes and saw Scarlet, Kady, and Ash throwing spells at each other. Fed lay at Scarlet’s feet.
Where you go, I go, lion.
Tia stood, but feeling like her legs weren’t going to support her, floated over to her sisters and Fed.
She joined her powers again with Kady’s and Ash’s and made one last hard decision. Together, they pushed the bolt of soul magic at Scarlet and struck her down.
They could not allow her darkness to destroy others, even if she was their sister. She hadn’t been that for a long time.
A dark, angry form rose up out of Scarlet’s body, lifting her up into the air as it crawled out of her. It was fighting against the soul magic the sisters had thrown at Scarlet.
“Kady, use your light,” Tia commanded again. “Ash freeze it in time.”
This being was no mere spectral warrior. It was bigger and darker than anything Tia had ever seen.
She hit it with her blue magic and the temperature around them dropped to below freezing. The being dropped Scarlet’s body and she fell to the ground.
A booming voice with the screech of a thousand spectrals mixed together sounded in Tia’s head. “Your light is no match for me Warrior Bear’s Daughter. Your time barely scratches the surface, Joyful Bear’s Heart. Your harmony cannot touch me Lioness with a Bear’s Spirit.”
How did this creature know their true names?
Scarlet stood and faced her sisters. “He cannot hurt you and you cannot hurt him without the last part. The gift Maică gave to me. Let it free, and I will go with it again. That is my fate. Please forgive me.”
Scarlet reached up and let a red wisp of a spell project from her heart toward the dark spectral. The second it touched, the spectral was pulled back into Scarlet’s body.
Her eyes glowed and she took a deep breath. In an instant the old Scarlet was back. She gathered the magic the three sisters were throwing at her and blew it back at them threefold.
An explosion of magic threw them all across the garden. When they were able to recover and get up, Scarlet had gotten back into her ship and it took off, disappearing into a spec in a second.
Tia ran across the field and skidded to Fed’s side. She grabbed his head and kissed his shaggy mane all over. “Come back to me, lion. It’s not time for us to go anywhere.”
The lion transformed back into the man she had fallen in love with over the past lifetime and the past day. “Tiaret, my mate. More beautiful than ever. You scared me for a minute there.”
A tear streamed down Tia’s face and landed on his cheek. “Right back at you, my love.”
“Don’t cry, sweet Tia. I’m not going anywhere. I promised you some love making and you’re going to get it.”
Fed groaned as she sat up and Tia helped him to his feet. They made their way back across the garden and saw the other ships land just as they got to the entryway of the home the gnomes had given Tia to stay in.
Tia’s sisters and the residents of Magic greeted the returning bears. She would take the time to get together and talk with her sisters and Topper later. First, she had a lion to take care of.
Her magic flowed easily from her now and as soon as they got inside, she transformed the bedroom into the wide-open savannah of Africa she’d seen in a book once.
“This is almost as beautiful as you are, mate. But it needs something.”
She added a tree.
Fed chuckled. “That’s nice, but I was thinking a fireplace with a rocking chair, a tea kettle, and a soft bed.
In a blink of an eye Tia conjured the room in the old cabin in the middle of the open plain. No walls, plenty of room to run. Later.
In one more blink she had them both naked again.
“It’s like you read my mind.” Fed pulled her over to the bed and sat on the edge with her on his lap.
“It’s time I properly claimed and mated you, my beautiful queen.”
“Queen?” Was that a term of affection?
“A story for another day.” Fed lay back on the bed and tapped the amulet around Tia’s neck. “You protected my soul fiercely today, better than any lion.”
She clasped her hand over his, the power from the soul ember warming them both. “Your soul is what gave me strength.”
“No. love. That was already in you.”
Maybe. She leaned over and kissed him, long and deep and his hands roamed over her body. When she was hot and panting, he flipped them both and made good on his promise to lick her entire body, spending an extra-long time kissing her between her legs.
He was gentle but still passionate and she wanted all of him. “Take me, Fedelis. Make me yours now.”
Fed spread her legs with his and slowly joined their bodies. Sparks from each of their souls lit up the room and began a dance keeping rhythm with their bodies.
Fed groaned in pleasure as her body took his in and said the words she’d been waiting to hear. “I, Fedelis of the House of Semper, Heir to the throne of Honaw and son of Leonidas, claim you, Tiaret as my mate, as my partner, as my love.”
Pleasure soared across Tia’s mind and body. Her lion was everything she’d ever wanted. “I, Tiaret Ayininruhu, claim you, Fedelis as my mate, my partner, my love.”

nbsp; Fed’s lion shimmered in his eyes. “I love you Tia. Fates, I never thought I’d find you. I had to come clear across the galaxy and now you’re mine. I’m never letting you go.”
Tia’s heart over flowed with the love and joy of being with Fed. He was better than any fantasy. “I love you, lion.”
She licked the mark she’d made on him and scraped her teeth across it. Fed growled deep with pleasure and together they pushed each other toward bliss.
Tia called out his name and held him deep as the came together, and he spilled his seed inside of her. She hoped for a sweet baby with him.
In the afterglow of love making she held him in her arms and stroked her fingers over his chest.
“Now tell me about this whole queen thing, lion.”
