Succubus Mine Page 16

Athletes had all the fame and glory in high school, and here in college, it wasn’t much different. Though the dynamic had changed slightly. Even good high school players couldn’t make a college-level team. You had to be the best-of-the-best to play Division I ball. A lot of the high school athletes had pledged fraternities, which was like being on a team in and of itself. A brotherhood, as the name implied. And the game was to win at life.

I was never going to be a part of the Greek system. I wasn’t the All-American Hero. I didn’t have the good looks, perfect smile, and sculpted cheekbones. I didn’t have rippling biceps and washboard abs. I didn’t have broad shoulders that made women swoon. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think I’m an ugly guy. I don’t have a complex about it, I don’t think. But I’m not a men’s underwear model. You’re not going to find my body on the cover of romance novels.

  Whatever.

I’m fine with that. Surely, there is the perfect woman out there that will love me for my mind. At least, that’s what I keep telling myself.

“Dude!” Curtis said, nudging me with his elbow. His gaze was intensely fixed across the courtyard. His jaw hung low, and his eyeballs bulged out of their sockets. He brushed his curly dark hair out of his eyes and tried to form a smile. He had olive skin and a few pimples on his face that were leftover remnants of puberty.

“What?” I asked, not really wanting to be bothered. I kept my face buried in my textbook.

The sharp jab of Curtis’s elbow into my rib cage got my attention.

  “What?”

Curtis motioned to the objects of his gaze. My eyes followed to discover three gorgeous hotties.

“She’s been staring at you for five minutes,” Curtis said. “That’s Emma Michaels, isn’t it?”

My heart hammered in my chest like a stampede of elephants. I swallowed hard, and my skin grew slick with nervous sweat.

Emma Michaels was my high school obsession. I sat behind her in trigonometry, and every day the luscious scent of her strawberry shampoo filled my nostrils. She was absolutely gorgeous. Auburn hair, creamy skin, and green eyes like emeralds. Now and then, she would ask me a math question, and I would do my best to help. I’m sure I came across like an over eager geek, fawning all over her. But it never went farther than that. And I never got up the courage to ask her out. I just couldn’t handle that kind of rejection.

Emma was standing with two friends in the shade. She wore a tight, teal blue spaghetti strap tank top that hugged her perky breasts. I could see the straps of her pink lacy bra underneath. I didn’t know much about bra sizes, but I figured she was a C cup. They had a perfect shape. And her nipples always tried their best to announce their presence, despite being restrained by needless layers of clothing.

My eyes took in her svelte form. They fell down her slim waist, glancing over her miniskirt, down her toned thighs. Her skin was smooth and flawless. My mind began to drift to thoughts of pure fantasy. If the wind blew just right, it might lift her skirt, and offer a wondrous glimpse of the promised land.

My junk stretched, and I realized this was not the place to let my mind wander. “You’re crazy. She’s not looking at me.”

  “Yes, she is!” Curtis insisted.

I glanced around, from side to side and behind me, looking for other possibilities. She had to be staring at someone else. Her two friends were equally gorgeous. Women like that just didn’t look at me twice unless they wanted something.

  Maybe they wanted tutoring?

My mind raced with possibilities, trying to figure out the mystery. The blonde standing next to Emma wore a bikini top with spaghetti strings that struggled to contain her DD’s. The strings were fighting a losing battle.

The brunette wore black yoga pants with the sorority’s letters across her tight ass. Both girls were whispering in Emma’s ear. They’d look to me, then giggle, then look away. Despite how hot these girls were, they were acting shy and bashful. It struck me as a little odd.

I glanced around again, looking behind me to see if anyone else had shown up that might be the subject of their attention. But sure enough, these girls were looking at me.

The two sorority girls shoved Emma in my direction, and she stumbled toward me. Her cheeks flushed, and she lowered her head, shyly. She looked up at me with those piercing eyes, then looked away.

I swallowed hard as she approached, and the closer she got, the harder my chest pounded. By the time she was standing in front of me, I was sure she could hear my heartbeat.

  “You’re Benjamin, right?”

“Uh, yeah,” my voice cracked. It was mortifying. My throat was dry, and I suddenly had a tough time speaking. “Ben. It’s just Ben now.”

“You sat behind me in trigonometry, right?”

“Wow, I didn’t think you noticed.”

Emma smiled. “Of course I noticed, silly.”

Her words rolled off her tongue and massaged my ears. Her full lips had a freshly applied coat of gloss. I couldn’t help but imagine what they would feel like pressed against mine.

Her green eyes looked at me with a slightly lascivious glint. “You really have grown up over the summer.”

“Uh, thanks, I guess.” I didn’t feel much different from high school.

“Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for all the math help. I wouldn’t have gotten accepted here otherwise. I needed at least a B in that class to get my GPA up—and I got it!” Her eyes sparkled. “All because of you.”

A smile tugged at my lips. I couldn’t believe she was thanking me. I’d have done her homework for her, if she’d have let me. I stammered, trying not to sound desperate, “My pleasure. If you need help with anything here, just let me know…”

She paused for a moment and a curious look curled on her face. “Actually, I kind of do need your help with something.”

I had an eager look on my face. I was sitting there like a puppy dog waiting for a treat. I would do anything for this girl. I’d polish her floor with my tongue. I’d clean her toilets, do her laundry, carry her books to class—anything. “Sure, what is it?”

“Well,” her cheeks flushed, and her bashful eyes looked to the ground as she swayed from side to side.

I wanted to blurt out “Yes” right then and there, but I figured it would be best for me to wait until she actually asked a question.
