Springing into the air, it snapped its body like a bullwhip and lashed my left foot, splitting it down the middle. I was at last the butt of my own joke, but bifurcated by the Devil himself.
Now at leisure to roam the family brownstone, the serpent made it’s way out of the library. I looked away, knowing this house would never be empty again. And then I dazedly pondered the video camera, the red recording light still strong, and wondered what horrors this footage would unleash if ever found.
Author’s Bio: Born in Oklahoma City and raised in Dallas, Texas, Christopher Alan Broadstone is a writer, musician, and filmmaker now living in Los Angeles, California. He has toured and recorded independent records and CDs with his bands About 9 Times and The Judas Engine.
As a writer C.A. Broadstone is the author of the horror novel Puzzleman and, with his short story Note-To-Self, is a contributor to the anthology Journals of Horror: Found Fiction. Currently, he is completing his first short story collection as well as his second horror novel, Heather’s Treehouse.
As filmmaker, C.A. Broadstone has written and directed three award-winning short films to date, Scream For Me (Best Short Film: NYC Horror Film Festival, Best Underground Short: B-Independent.com), My Skin! (Best Horror Short: Shriekfest Film Festival [L.A.], Best Film/Director: Cinema Edge Awards), and Human No More (Best Horror Short: The Indie Gathering Film Festival [OH]). Also, he has completed two feature length screenplays, Color of Flame, an erotic ghost story, and, with actor/writer John Franklin, Retard (Best Horror Feature Screenplay: Shriekfest Film Festival [L.A.]). In toto, C.A. Broadstone's films have been showcased on several horror compilation DVDs, have screened at 30 international film festivals, and have won 15 "Best Of" awards. About the Creator/Editor
Terry M. West is a well known author, filmmaker, actor and artist. He has written several books in the young adult field (most notably the graphic novel series, Confessions of a Teenage Vampire) and he has also written several horror short stories as well as the horror/thriller novel, Dreg. His work has appeared (or is scheduled to appear) in FrightNet, Scream Factory, Agony In Black, Lacunae, Jackhammer, House of Pain, Dark Muse, Moonletters, Silent Screams, When Red Snow Melts, One Hellacious Halloween, Deathmongers, Vignettes from the End of the World, Halloween Tales, Axes of Evil and Zombified 2. He was a finalist for the 1997 International Horror Guild Award for a short story (The Night Out) and he made the 1999 Bram Stoker Award preliminary ballot for a piece of long fiction (Hair and Blood Machine).
