“If there was no bet then-” Kyra put her finger to his lips, silencing him.
“Did you think I was going to allow you to eat my pussy like an all you can eat buffet to the point of endless squirting and not get your ass back?” she asked intensely.
“Now you tell me,” she said.
“How many licks did it take to make your dick weep in pleasure?” Jaxson’s eyes widened, but then he smiled. He took her finger from his lips and kissed it.
“Game on cocoa bean,” he said accepting her challenge. He winked at her before sliding out of her room.
“See you in 15 minutes so we can head out to training,” he said. Kyra licked her lips attracting his eyes to her mouth.
“See you,” she smiled before closing the door in his face and leaving him hanging. Jaxson could only chuckle as he walked away from her bedroom. He was on so much a high he felt like he was walking on a cloud. Nothing was better than a good old orgasm, and with the shit, he’d been through in only a matter of days; an orgasm was just what he needed.
“Hey, Jax.” Jaxson froze in his tracks. The person he was avoiding so much stood in front of him. Jaxson took a step back to keep his distance from her.
“Hey,” he replied. She was standing near the entrance of the cave as if she was waiting for him to walk by knowing that eventually, he would.
“Listen about earlier I didn’t mean to-”
“You overstepped your place, Mira. Especially when I already told you we’re not mates. You tried to attack Kyra when you had no right to.”
“It’s just that I thought we had something Jaxson. I thought she was trying to take that away from me because of her jealousy. I know we’re not mates, but I thought there was still something deep going on with us.” Jaxson felt the sensation of something probing at his brain. He looked Mira up and down as the attraction to her began flooding his brain again. But it wasn’t right. Something wasn’t right. His gut was screaming that Kyra was where their interest lay.
“Are you fucking with me?” he asked her bluntly. Mira quickly drew back.
“What?! No! What are you even talking about?” Jaxson just looked her up and down before walking by her and leaving her standing there by herself. Even though he said something; he still couldn’t shake the feeling he had about her at the moment. Just when he thought he was free of the confusion, it had tackled him again. He just couldn’t afford for his confusion to make him lose Kyra. Not again.
Chapter Eleven
“Wrong! Get up and do it again,” Kyra ordered one of the trainees who had completely missed the point on how to perform an accurate roundhouse kick. Instead, he had ended up on his back when Kyra caught his ankle and threw him a few yards away. She had inserted herself as the practice dummy, and each time a trainee got something wrong; she made them pay for it.
“You know, I don’t want to hurt a she-wolf that’s why I’m not doing it,” the young wolf protested.
“Oh shove it up your ass pup,” she replied.
“If a she-wolf is attacking you to kill you are you gonna stand there and not defend yourself?” The young wolf looked to Jaxson for help. Jaxson put his hands up. He wasn’t having any part of this conversation.
“She’s gonna keep throwing your ass if you don’t do it right,” Niles told them.
“If you can’t do a simple roundhouse kick then you have no business being an enforcer. So either you’re going to do it, or you’re not. I don’t know if anyone didn’t clue you in, but the Phoenix Pack don’t got time to waste. How do you think our alpha would feel to know that you’re wasting his time and resources?”
“I’m not wasting time I-”
“Like I said, if you can’t kick me then you’re never gonna be an enforcer. If you’re never going to be an enforcer then why the fuck would we be out here training and teaching you shit? Therefore you’re a big waste of fucking time.”
“Do not tell Kellan anything!” he squealed.
“I promise I’ll do better!”
“THEN KICK MY FUCKING HEAD OFF!” Kyra screamed at him. Jaxson was in complete awe. Kyra was so ferocious in the most sexiest way.
The young wolf flashed his wolf eyes at Kyra before lunging at her. He jumped in the air and threw his leg out; kicking her in the face hard. Kyra dropped to the ground; blood gushing from her lip. Jaxson had the impulse to rush over to help her, but he knew it would perceive her to be weak. So he left her. The crazy she-wolf however sat up and smiled even with blood coming from her mouth.
“Good kick,” she winked at the young wolf. She got to her feet and wiped the blood from her mouth. Soon it would heal.
“What’s next Jax?” She asked, looking at him seductively. Jax winked at her before going over to the trainees.
“Well, you all want to be enforcers. You know that being an enforcer means you have to be able to defeat an enforcer in a fight.”
“If you think we can defeat you then I know you’re sniffing wolfsbane,” Zander said.
“Oh no, I know you can’t defeat me,” Jaxson said.
“So what the hell you want from us?”
“For the past two hours, me and Kyra have showed you some specific moves and told you some specific things. If you were paying attention, then you should be able to drop me to my knees. If you can bring me down just once then we’re on the right path. If not; you’re gonna have a lot of work to do. One at a time. Let’s go.”
The youngest wolf charged at Jaxson and Jaxson simply held his hand out and waited for the young wolf to run into his palm. Because of the speed of his charging Jaxson barely had to use any muscle to break the young wolf’s nose. The young wolf fell back in pain grabbing his broken nose.
“I told you not to do that,” Jaxson said pointing at him.
“Move. Next up.” Kyra just leaned against a tree and watched as Jaxson decimated the trainees. Damn, he was fucking sexy. At this point; her hormones had been released, and she was on the verge of becoming a nympho. She needed to have her some of Jaxson. At this point, she was fantasizing ways to lock him in her bedroom tonight and take down that monster that hung from his hips. The feeling of him still lingered in her mouth, and she loved it.
“We have a lot of work to do,” Jaxson sighed as the trainees lay in a pile in front of him. He shook his head and looked at Kyra.
“Don’t worry. We can whip them into shape together,” Kyra said to him. Jaxson felt her support, and it settled all his worries about getting these trainees into shape. The nagging attraction to Mira was still pungent in his brain, and he just wanted it to stop. Especially since he knew he wanted nothing to do with her.
“We’ll resume training another time,” Jaxson announced.
“Zander and Niles come on. We have to scope out the lounge and report back to Kellan.”
“Let’s take Kyra back first to make sure she’s safe and-” Niles had stood while he spoke, but he was unable to get the words out of his mouth. Jaxson grabbed him by the throat.
“Are you implying that she can’t handle a scout mission?” Jaxson gritted.
“No, but she’s a-”
“She’s a what?” Jaxson asked.
“I just thought she would be safer in the caves just in case of any attack or-” Niles swallowed hard.
“You don’t get to think for her or decide what the fuck is best for her,” Jaxson grunted.
“When it comes to my she-wolf you don’t assume or make plans for her. That’s not your place.” Kyra’s heart was hammering in her chest when he claimed her as his. Her wolf was giddy and excited about the claim and almost forced Kyra to run to him and wrap herself in his arms. If another man had claimed her like that, then she would have had a fit. This was completely different on every level.
“I’m sorry,” Niles choked out.
“Don’t apologize to me, say it to her.” Jaxson pushed Niles towards Kyra. He bowed his head.
“Sorry,” he spoke out. Kyra smiled at waved him off.
“Next time
don’t make a mistake,” she said.
“Let’s go boys.”
“You should have just quit while you were ahead,” Zander spoke up as they walked off. Kyra walked next to Jaxson.
“I could have handled it you know,” she said.
“I can kick his ass.”
“I know you can,” he shrugged.
“Doesn’t mean you have to though.” Kyra smiled at him. Jaxson noticed she had a small limp. He took her by the hands and swung her onto his back.
“What the?”
“Just until you heal cocoa bean. Then I’ll let you down to walk. That’s if you want to be let down,” he said. Kyra wrapped her arms around his neck and buried her head into his shoulder. She probably wouldn’t want to be let down either.
“I’ll see how I feel,” she replied with a smirk. Jaxson kissed her wrist before he began leaping through the woods at a quickened pace to get to the edge of the human town.
The lounge was fully functional although on the outside it looked like a closed down business. Kellan had wanted it to look precisely that way to keep any wanderers out. Humans weren’t going to be allowed into the lounge whether they be good or bad. The area around the lounge was bustling with regular traffic from humans going and coming to the other places surrounded by the lounge. None of them looked suspicious enough to garner any of their attention.
“Suspicious looking dude,” Kyra whispered to him.
“12 o’clock.” Jaxson looked to his right in the direction where Kyra was speaking of. He was shocked at himself for not noticing the white male leaning up against the brick wall of a store. He had a gun at his waist, but no one seemed to care. In these times; Jaxson suspected that carrying guns around were okay for some people. But that wasn’t just an ordinary gun on his waist. Jaxson could smell the wolfbane in its bullets. Setting Kyra down, Jaxson turned to the Zander and Niles.
“I’m gonna go check out what he’s up to. Do not, and I repeat DO NOT engage in a fight or out yourself as a shifter. If I need help, I will ask for it. Kyra, if something goes wrong and all three of us go down, you need to get back to the caves and alert Kellan as to what happened. Got it?”
“I can help you if there’s a fight,” Kyra protested.
“Sorry cocoa bean, but technically I’m the only enforcer here, so I have to pull rank. Do what I said. All three of you.” Kyra wanted to speak out again, but the arrival of another hunter with a young female at his side caught her attention.
“Jax,” she said jerking her head in the direction of the hunters again. Turning, Jaxson saw what Kyra was seeing. He couldn’t catch the scent of the young female, but he saw the silver collar around her neck made to look like jewelry when it was a way to trap a shifter. The two hunters exchanged words before one of the hunters handed over some money.
“Are they…wait are they doing what I think they’re doing?” Kyra asked. The hunter leaning against the brick wall was paying up before the young shifter was given to him. He caressed her face. She turned away in disgust.
“Me and my friends will have some fun with this one,” the hunter spoke in a hushed tone, but that didn’t matter for a shifter.
“They’re selling her,” Kyra gasped.
“Here’s the plan we’ll-” Jaxson started to discuss a plan but was cut short by Kyra walking off.
“Kyra get back here,” he snapped. Kyra didn’t listen. She was a woman on a mission.
“Hey, Simone! Where you been? I was looking all over the place for you!” Kyra called out to the female as if she knew who the shifter was. She jogged over to the two hunters and the young wolf.
“Who’s your new friends here?” Kyra asked looking at the men.
“You know your parents will have a fit if I told them I lost you out here.” Kyra looked at the two men.
“Sorry boys but whatever she promised you, she’s lying. This thing is only 16. And that’s a crime.” Kyra pushed one of the men back softly and took hold of the young shifter. The hunters were so shocked they were frozen in place looking at each other with dumb expressions on their face. Then they realized their sell was about to vanish right in front of their faces.
“HEY!” the hunter shouted. He grabbed hold of Kyra’s wrist.
“What the hell you think you doing?!” Kyra whipped around, kicking the man in the head.
“Run!” She shouted. When the hunter fell, Kyra grabbed the shifter’s wrist and dragged her away from the hunters. Jaxson rushed passed them to face the other hunter who had his gun drawn ready to shoot. Jaxson took him by the wrist; twisted it, knocking the gun from his hands before punching him in the face to knock him out. With one hunter down; Jaxson focused on the other hunter that was on the ground rubbing his head from Kyra’s kick. Jaxson grabbed him by the throat.
“What in the hell were you planning on doing with that girl?” he asked.
“I won’t tell you shit,” the hunter choked. Jaxson let his wolf eyes shine; dropped his teeth from his gums and growled. He flicked his claws out and pressed them against the hunter's chest.
“Don’t fuck with me,” Jaxson growled. The hunter squealed.
“I was selling her,” he coughed when Jaxson loosened the hold on his throat.
“There are men who will pay a hefty price for one of those she-beasts. There’s no purpose on this earth for a she-beast but to be fucked and there’s no purpose on this earth for male mutants but to be killed!”
“Yeah well, you can fucking try.”
“You think you can beat all of us?” he asked.
“She ain’t the only beast being sold. It’s a war you fucker.” Hearing enough, Jaxson punched him hard to knock him out. Even though he wanted to kill him, he knew he couldn’t do so in public. He wanted both hunters dead, but he also knew doing so in front of innocent humans would further make shifters look like uncontrollable beasts. So Jaxson rifled through both their pockets and found their identification cards in hopes that their home addresses would help the pack locate any female shifters who’d been captured or sold.
“Were you alone when you were captured?” Jaxson asked the young wolf after leaving the two fallen hunters on the ground. The few humans passing by rushed away as if they didn’t want to be part of any fight.
“Yes. I was coming to look at the lounge. My pack keeps hearing about it and want to check it out when it opens. I was still in the woods when the hunter attacked me from behind and put the collar around my neck.”
“Come.” Jaxson led everyone to the safety of the woods rather than standing there in the street. Under the cover of the trees, Jaxson yanked and tugged at the collar until it broke off. He roared in pain as the silver burned through his palms, but he didn’t stop yanking until she was free. Her eyes glowed purple, and a rush of relief swept over her.
“Thank you so much,” she sighed. Jaxson nodded at her and looked at his burned hands. Kyra reached over to touch him, but he drew his hands back and glared at her.
“You, Zander and Niles go back home. I’m going to take-”
“Toni,” the young wolf interjected.
“I’m going to take Toni back to her pack grounds. The three of you go home.”
“Jaxson I can-” Jaxson held up his hand stopping Kyra from continuing to speak.
“You’ve done enough Kyra,” Jaxson interrupted.
“Go back home.”
“But you can’t just-”
“JUST DO IT!” Jaxson yelled at her. Kyra growled at him before turning away sharply and walking towards the direction of the caves. Zander and Niles followed behind her.
“You did just run off on your plans instead of listening first,” Zander told her touching her shoulder. Kyra slapped his hand off her.
“Don’t touch me,” she snapped. She didn’t like the fact that Jaxson had snapped and yelled at her when she’d clearly done more than he did in the first place. What, was he pissed that she was the one who rescued Toni and not him? Angered, Kyra shifted into her animal and ran speedil
y to get back to the caves.
Chapter Twelve
Kellan was rocking Kingston back and forth in his arms. Bliss was taking a much needed nap, so Kellan was trying to play his part. After he finished his alpha duties, he was right back at the cave to help with his pup. Just as he was wondering where Jaxson, Zander, Niles, and Kyra were. Kyra stormed into the cave angrily. She was yanking a tunic over her head, and that let Kellan know she had been in wolf form. Zander and Niles came in a few moments later.
“What happened?” Kellan asked them.
“Kyra’s pissed. But we found two humans selling a shifter female,” Niles answered.
“WHAT?! Where is Jaxson? And why didn’t he report this to me?!”
“He went to bring the young wolf back to her pack safely. He ordered us to come back here so we would be safe,” Zander said.
“I can’t believe this,” Kellan shook his head. Buying and selling shifters? That wasn’t good. He continued to rock Kingston, keeping the baby soothed. Jaxson didn’t return to the cave for another 20 minutes. When he entered, he was just as angry as Kyra was. Kellan handed Kingston to Bliss who was awake.
“I’ve been waiting,” Kellan said.
“Sorry about that.”
“Why didn’t you project or call me to tell me what was happening?” Kellan asked.
“It was all in the moment, and things moved pretty quickly. I figured I’d get back and fill you in on everything.”
“Zander gave me a little update. Buying and selling shifters?”
“Yes. For male shifters all the hunters want is to kill us. But the females; they have other ideas. Come to think about it; remember what they’d been doing to Gemma? Apparently they think they can use the she-wolves as some type of sex toy.”
“You got to be kidding me,” Kellan sighed rubbing his eyes. Bliss stood, holding her baby tightly.
“So what? Are we going to be looking for some sort of trafficking ring or something?” Bliss asked.
“I don’t think one person or a group of people is in control of this. I just think hunters are capturing shifters and doing whatever they want with them.” Jaxson pulled out the two identification cards.
