He struggled in his bonds and before he could finish the “...itch”, the blonde vampire slapped him. “Now, now, no names.”
The hit must have stunned him. His head lolled back and he started to jerk.
“Roke!” Isa said with a sharp note to her voice. She touched the vampire’s cheek, and he turned his head and bit her.
She pulled her hand back, shredding it in the process. The vampire laughed and laughed. “I got you. I at least got one of you. Heal that, BITCH.”
He chopped down on his teeth, and we all heard a weird crack and a puff of smoke came out of his mouth. A few seconds later, the vampire was dead. For real this time.
Roke had his arms around Isa, looking at her wound. Typical bite marks but they didn’t seem to be healing, and the edges weren’t clean. They were rough and purple, almost infected but vampires aren’t alive so they couldn’t get sick. Weird.
This wasn’t good. But no matter what the vampires sent, we could handle it. We were, after all, the three. And I finally believed that and fully embraced my destiny.
What a witch! My mom always used to say. “My witch bitch baby.”
I must has muttered it under my breath because Baz heard. “What did you say?”
“Let them come. They will learn once and for all what a Bitch I am.”
“Did you mean witch?”
“That too,” I said. “They are going to learn something about the mages soon. We are ready.”
“Have you told the rest of the mages that yet?”
“I will.”
I smiled at this last. Oh, I will let them know the Tremayne’s were here. Just you wait.
