Shain: Immortal Forsaken Series #6 (Paranormal Romance Novella) Page 15

The location, as always, will be disclosed on January 1st.

The private airport will be no farther than an hour’s drive from the Centurias’s grounds. From there, only pre-approved transportation is allowed to escort you into the sphere. Whether you are going to be escorted in a limousine, armored car, or even by horse and carriage, be prepared to wait upon arrival, for there is sure to be a long line due to the extra securities measures being taken. There will be your initial (and most thorough) check-in at the gates, and then your accommodations check-in in your appointed suites.

Remember, there won’t be any communication with the outside world for all nine evenings. Cell phones, laptops, tablets, or anything that requires Wi-Fi or internet access won’t work once you’re inside. Be sure you have someone to handle your affairs while you’re away. There will be landline phones available in every guest suite so you’re able to call anyone within the Centurias’s domain. After all, who doesn’t miss the shrill of an old-fashioned phone on a cradle?

Once you’re settled in, feel free to roam the grounds, and perhaps introduce yourself to your neighbors. A map will be included so you won’t find yourself arriving late or missing an event because you’ve gotten lost. Some tend to forget that while everything is within walking distance, the Centurias’s location can rival that of a small island. I like to take in the surroundings immediately, as it’s never more stunning than in the first few days, when everyone seems to be on their best behavior. It’s when contracts are starting to be made and inhibitions and desire collide that the scenery turns quite messy and salacious. Clothes strewn about the walkways, handprints in blood on the pillars, the random ménage a trois on the balcony… And those are only the things I can mention.

The lottery winner was announced, and for the first time ever, it’s an immortal forsaken. Due to the rules, his or her name can’t be revealed, though I’m sure there are some of you who will find out who they are regardless. Best of luck to them. Which, since they won, they already have luck on their side so far.

Whether you’re coming for the blood, the sex, the allies, the scandals, the parties—or all of it—I urge you to make the most of it. I have always had a feeling this Centurias is going to be exceptional in some way, or several.

It’s rumored the orias are even nervous about it, though no one, not even a Vesser, can speculate why. Perhaps it’s just the sign of the times. So much change has happened more in this past century than all the others. And change, to many, is a frightening thing.

Nevertheless, it’s going to be a grandly decadent time! Do not let fear drive you to hold back or play it safe. That’s not what the Centurias is about! It’s about enjoying everything we are as vampires. The night. The seduction. The games. The blood. The passion. The arrangements. The mergers. If there’s something you want to do (or even someone), this is the time to go for it. With only a thousand in attendance, you can easily standout or stand back, make a scene or make a move, lead the way or follow the example.

You do you, be you, and revel in everything that is the first, the original creature of the night.

I look forward to seeing you all there…and writing all about it. *wink*
