Love Unscripted

Laura’s hand was in her hair, guiding her to her sex, and as much as Riley wanted to tease her, she wanted to taste her more.

Riley ran her tongue delicately over Laura’s lips, tasting her without even parting them. Laura moaned, her hips lifting off the bed as Riley repeated the motion, adding more pressure this time, her tongue slipping between her folds, Laura’s juices on her tongue.

“Oh, Riley,” Laura moaned, throwing her head back, her other hand on Riley’s shoulder, her fingers digging into her skin as Riley ran her tongue over her again, finding her clit this time. “That feels so good...”

Riley stayed there, her tongue encircling Laura’s sensitive bud, sucking and flicking it while she moved into a better position, her fingers ready. Laura whimpered as Riley’s tongue swept over her again and again, undoing Laura with each stroke.

Riley’s mouth remained on Laura’s swollen clit as she pushed two fingers inside of her, and a soft moan escaped Riley’s lips as she felt Laura’s slick desire envelop her fingers. Laura’s thighs held her there, not that Riley had any intention of going anywhere. Laura’s hips rocked against her, moving faster as Riley picked up the pace.

Riley took Laura’s clit into her mouth as she added a third finger, and in seconds, Laura was calling out her name, her hand tangled in Riley’s hair as her hips bucked and her thighs quivered. Riley didn’t think she’d ever seen or heard anything as sexy as Laura falling apart in front of her.

Riley lazily kissed her way up Laura’s body as she removed her fingers, and Laura caught her breath, her body glistening in a light layer of sweat, her eyes closed as she blindly reached for Riley. Laura’s palms glided over her back as Riley’s lips parted against hers, and Laura sighed into the kiss, wrapping her arms around her.

Riley knew they should talk, but she was in a lust-filled haze, and she just wanted to enjoy this. Laura’s hands were on her again, running up her thighs and clutching her ass, and Riley knew it wouldn’t take much to get her off again, her hips grinding against Laura’s leg.

“I don’t think I’ll ever get enough of you,” Laura breathed, her lips searching for Riley’s.

Riley moaned into the kiss. How was this real life? She shuddered as Laura’s hand lightly slapped her ass, sending a jolt of electricity through her body as her clit rubbed against Laura’s leg.

“Fuck me,” Riley groaned, kissing Laura hard, letting Laura roll them over and top her. She came undone against Laura’s hand seconds after she slipped three fingers inside of her, and Riley knew they weren’t going to get much sleep tonight.

  Chapter 27

Laura’s eyes fluttered open. She thought she heard a noise, a bang even, but she must have been dreaming. Riley’s blond hair brushed against her nose as Laura half sat up to see what time it was, finding the clock on the wall opposite the bed. Almost two o’clock in the afternoon.

Riley was fast asleep beside her, and Laura had no intention of waking her. They’d only fallen asleep as the sun was coming up. As far as Laura knew, Riley had no where she needed to be today. She definitely didn’t.

Laura tossed her hair over her shoulder as she got comfortable again, gently draping her arm over Riley’s stomach, closing her eyes again to get another bit of sleep, but an insistent knock on the front door broke through the peaceful silence, and Laura froze. That was the noise that must have woken her up. Riley stirred beside her, mumbling something that Laura couldn’t understand.

“Riley?” Laura asked softly, her hand on her shoulder now. “Are you expecting anyone today? There’s someone at the front door.”

“What?” she murmured as she rolled onto her back. “No.” Riley brushed a few strands of her blond hair away from her eyes. “I don’t think so anyway.”

Another series of knocks, even louder this time, made Riley throw back the white sheets and put on the black silk robe that was hanging on the back of her bedroom door.

“I’ll be back in a minute,” Riley said, pausing in front of the floor length mirror to run a hand through her hair. “It’s probably a neighbor or the woman I’m renting this place from. I can’t imagine who else it would be.”

“It’s probably time we got up anyway,” Laura said from underneath the sheets.

“Two o’clock?” Riley asked, glancing at the clock before she crossed the room to lightly kiss Laura.

“It was almost six by the time we went to sleep,” Laura murmured as she brushed her lips across Riley’s.

“So, a healthy eight hours sleep then... I better go get rid of whoever’s outside.”

Riley padded out of the room in her bare feet, and Laura pushed back the sheets, practically running across the hall into her own room even though she knew there was no one to see her. She just didn’t feel comfortable walking around naked. Laura got dressed, putting on white shorts and a red v neck top, brushing her tousled hair. She’d have a shower after she had something to eat, and as if on cue, her stomach rumbled, reminding her that she hadn’t eaten anything since seven o’clock yesterday evening.

Laura stepped into her flip flops and paused in the doorway as she heard voices drifting up the stairs. She wasn’t sure if she should go downstairs or not. She didn’t want to interrupt, but if it was just the owner of the house or a neighbor, seeing that Riley had company might hurry them on. Laura had a feeling they’d pick up where they left off once they’d had something to eat and were alone again.

Laura smiled to herself as she went down the stairs, sliding her hand along the smooth pine banister. Last night had been amazing. The only thing she was disappointed about was the way they were woken up. She would have loved to stay in bed with Riley for just a little longer.

Last night hadn’t completely sunk in either. Laura tried not to think about how close she’d been to declining Riley’s invitation. She knew she was attracted to Riley, and she didn’t think spending any more time with her would be productive, but here they were. She didn’t know what was going to happen, but last night, Laura had felt more alive than she had in years.

She was about to greet whoever was standing in Riley’s living room, but her eyes surveyed the scene in front of her first, sensing the tension immediately. Riley was pacing, holding her phone, her eyes glued to it, her mouth slightly agape. There was a dark-haired woman, probably in her early forties, standing in front of the fireplace with her hands on her hips, her cheeks flushed.

“I thought you millennials were all glued to your phones,” the woman said, shaking her head slightly. “We should have said something by now.”

“I left it downstairs last night,” Riley said without looking up, neither of them noticing Laura standing at the foot of the steps. “Twenty-nine missed calls. Jesus. I don’t even know how-”

“It never matters how these things happen, Riley. You know that. It’s out there. It’s getting shared. It’s going to be headline news for the next twenty-four hours, at least. We need to put out a statement.”

“What’s happened?” Laura asked, not wanting to be left out of the loop any longer.

Both women turned to look at her. Riley’s expression was difficult to read, a mixture of shock and despair. The other woman was all business, wearing a navy blazer over a white top, her makeup and straight black hair immaculate.

“Have you looked at your phone?” Riley asked her.

  “No. Why? What’s going on?”

“So,” the other woman said, her eyes traveling over Laura, sizing her up almost. “You’re the ‘older woman.’”

  “Excuse me?”

Laura took her time crossing the room, hoping she misheard her. Who did she think she was?

“I probably shouldn’t be surprised,” the woman said.

Laura hated feeling clueless, but she had no idea who this woman was or what she was playing at. “Who are you?”

“Maria. Riley’s manager... And you,” she said, looking her up and down once again, “You’re the ‘mysterious older woman,’” Maria said, handing Laura her
phone.

Laura narrowed her eyes before she took the phone. Maria... As in Riley’s kind of ex? Laura didn’t have time to even think about that as her eyes scanned the headline.

Riley Hill Can’t Keep Her Hands Off Mysterious Older Woman

The article was about six sentences long, but the image of the two of them, of Riley pressing her up against the car and passionately kissing her said it all. Laura handed Maria her phone and wiped her hand across her face. That photo was probably seen by thousands of people, and thousands more would see it. Millions maybe. And Riley wasn’t out.

“What are you going to do about this?” Laura asked Riley, not caring about Maria, who was standing beside her.

“I don’t know. I’m still in shock... I didn’t think there was anyone around...”

“You two were in the middle of the fucking parking lot,” Maria said, raising her voice slightly. “You could have been more discreet. My phone has been on fire since last night. I had to fly out here to get a hold of you, Riley.”

“Adam’s been trying to call too,” Riley said, finally putting her phone down on the coffee table. “This wasn’t how I planned on coming out.”

Laura knew it wasn’t ideal. Riley had said she wanted to do it on her own terms, but maybe it was better that it was out there now. There would never be a good time.

“You’ve got a movie to make,” Maria said, her voice returning to a normal tone. “I don’t want this taking attention away from that.”

“I know,” Riley said with a sigh. “And I don’t want to steal the spotlight away from it... But I am focused if that’s what you’re worried about.”

“It doesn’t look like it,” Maria said, blatantly looking at Laura as she said those words.

“I’ll leave you two to it,” Laura said, turning and heading back up the stairs. She didn’t know what Riley was going to do or what sort of statement she’d make, but it didn’t concern her. This was Riley’s decision to make, and as her manager Maria would probably have more of an input than Laura would. She’d pack her things. She’d only planned on staying a few days anyway, and they had gone over the scenes that Riley wanted to ask her about. Laura had no reason to stay any longer, not when there was all this drama. Riley had to focus on filming, too.

Laura emptied the closet, quickly packing her clothes and toiletries, zipping up her suitcase just a few minutes later. She didn’t want to make a scene, but there was no way to get her things out to the car without going through the living room. She carried her case and laptop bag, trying to make the least amount of noise as possible as she descended the stairs.

The living room was empty, but Laura heard the distant pop of a bottle of wine being uncorked. She shook her head, smiling to herself as she went out the front door. She couldn’t blame Riley. She’d probably have done the exact same thing. A bottle of wine had been there for her on plenty of nights over the years.

Laura unlocked her car, putting her suitcase in the trunk and her laptop on the passenger seat, before she went back inside. She’d have to say goodbye to Riley with Maria standing there, but what choice did she have? She wasn’t going to leave without saying anything, especially after last night.

  Chapter 28

Riley poured herself a generous glass of red wine. She hadn’t even looked at the label. She’d just grabbed the nearest bottle and poured herself and Maria a glass. She knew she should have something to eat but opening the door and seeing Maria standing there just threw her. She’d been riding an incredible high, anxious to get rid of whoever had woken her up with their insistent knocking. Maria was probably the very last person she expected to see standing on her porch.

“Thanks,” Maria said as she took a seat at the breakfast bar. “We need to work on a statement. Fast.”

“I know. I know...” Riley took a drink. “I don’t know what to say though. Yes? I can’t keep my hands off her?”

Maria’s narrowing eyes surprised her. Clearly, Maria was here as her agent, not her friend. She might even be jealous judging by that scowl, although they both knew nothing was ever going to happen between them again.

“You either come out or deny it,” Maria said flatly.

  “Why would I deny it?”

“I don’t know... Because your family will disown you. Because you’re young, and you will probably miss out on future roles if you’re out.”

“Really?” Riley asked, her lips sliding into a sarcastic smile. “I thought we were passed all that.”

“Hollywood likes to give that impression, but that’s not what I’ve seen.”

Riley shook her head. “I can’t deny it.”

“Okay. Then you can play it up.”

“What?” Riley asked. She never had time for Maria’s schemes, and today her patience was non-existent.

  “Are you two serious?”

“I don’t know. It just happened,” Riley said, taking a few steps to peer into the living room to see if Laura was on her way in, but it was still empty.

“Do we need to worry about her selling this to some tabloid?”

“What? Do you not know... That’s Laura Foley. The author. Of Chasing Time,” Riley added when Maria’s face remained blank.

“Oh. Ohhh,” Maria said, a smirk on her lips. “Really? That’s fantastic.”

  “So, you’re happy for me?”

“I’m happy for all of us. That,” she said, pointing her finger at Riley. “That is a great story.”

“What? But it’s not even... We’re not... I don’t know what we are. I don’t want to make a statement based on our relationship. This is about me... My coming out story.”

“We’ll see. Come on,” Maria said, leading them back into the living room. “We need to start drafting this statement. I feel a lot better about it now though.”

“Maria,” Riley said with an exasperated sigh. She could be so stubborn. She was good at her job, but Riley wasn’t going to let her have her way with this one.

Laura was making her way into the room just as they were, and Riley’s heart sped up as her eyes raked over her. She’d been so preoccupied with Maria’s arrival and those photos, that she’d barely taken Laura in before. She looked stunning in white shorts and a red top, her hair had that sexy, slightly disheveled look, and Riley knew she had to get Maria out of here as fast as possible.

“Hey,” Riley said. “We’re just going to put out a quick statement and then I’m all yours,” she said, lowering her voice slightly, knowing that Maria was only a few feet away. “I’m just going to get changed. Join me upstairs?”

“Sure,” Laura said, and Riley let her go upstairs ahead of her.

“Maria? I’m just going to get dressed. I’ll be down in ten minutes.”

“Okay,” she said from the couch. “I’ll start working on your statement.”

Riley gave her a nod and climbed the stairs, her wine glass still in her hand. Laura was in her bedroom, tossing the last decorative pillow onto the newly made bed.

“I’m really sorry about all of this,” Riley said, pausing in the doorway until Laura turned to face her. “I guess I wasn’t thinking... I’d just had such a lovely evening. I didn’t want to wait until we got back to kiss you.”

“I know... What are you going to do?”

“I’m not denying it. Maria thinks it might hurt my career, but I don’t care. I’ve wanted to do this for a long time. This is the perfect opportunity... I’m sorry you got dragged into though.”

Laura nodded. “Could you leave my name out of it? I’d prefer to just be the ‘mysterious older woman,’” she said, using air quotes.

“Sure. I completely understand... I wish they hadn’t used the words ‘older woman’ though,” Riley said, leaving her wine glass on top of the dresser.

“Well, it’s true. I am older than you... I’m forty-four. Today.”

“What?” Riley blurted out. “Today’s your birthday? Why didn’t you say?”

Laura shrugged. “It’s not a big de
al. I don’t like a fuss.”

“I’m going to get Maria her precious statement, and then it’s just me and you... Whatever you want to do to celebrate. Or not celebrate.”

Laura didn’t say anything for a second, and Riley wasn’t sure what she’d said or done to upset her, but she wasn’t acting like herself. Laura was even more guarded than usual.

“I was actually going to head back home,” Laura said, avoiding Riley’s eyes. “I was only going to stay for a few days anyway, and you’ve got a lot going on with this... You’ll be filming soon. I just thought I better get out of your way and get back.”

“Really?” Riley asked, unable to hide her disbelief. After what had happened between them last night, she couldn’t have imagined Laura leaving like this. Riley assumed she’d stay for another few days.

“Yeah. Maria’s right. You’ve got a movie to focus on... But I’m glad I came,” Laura said, giving her a lopsided smile. “I know the next few weeks and months even are going to be hectic, but if you’re free, if you have a few days off... I’d love to come back, or if you wanted to get away, we could go somewhere else.”

Riley swallowed the lump in her throat. At least she wasn’t breaking up with her, because that was the impression Riley was getting... Not that they were even together. She knew that. She wasn’t getting carried away, but at the same time, she didn’t think this was a fling, and hopefully Laura didn’t either.

“Okay,” Riley managed to say. “Sure...” She could feel tears pricking her eyes. She was not going to cry in front of Laura. That would be ridiculous. “I better get changed and get this statement put together.”

“Right. Of course. I have my things out in the car already so...,” Laura said, taking a few steps towards her and putting her arms around her. “I’m proud of you,” she said softly as she pulled away, and Riley instantly missed the warmth of Laura’s body pressed against her own. “It’s a big move. I know you could have denied it. I’m sure Maria had some creative ways of making this go away.”

Riley just nodded. “I need to do this... Will you let me know that you got back okay?”
