“I can’t, Diane. It’s business,” Mark stated and then turned off the computer screen, but Diane was looking at the picture as she walked deeper into the room. She placed her palm on the file and Drake walked closer, too. He could see it was of Brenda.

“Is this her?” Diane asked, thinking that Brenda’s picture was inside. She must not have seen the picture on the screen.

Mark pulled her between his legs as he sat in the chair. Drake was pissed off as he listened to Mark try to minimize what was really going on to Diane. It was wrong. This needed to stop. His brother had to cut ties with this case, with the government, and just do what he promised them. They needed to keep Diane safe. Now Drake worried about all of them.

  * * * *

Mark felt his gut clench. He didn’t want to lie, to make up a story about Brenda or this case, but he couldn’t divulge any information. Anything he told her could put her into danger. Drake didn’t seem to be focusing on that or the fact that agents were attacked in their homes. They were full-time active agents. Mark wasn’t. He was hired out per diem.

He held Diane between his legs, letting his hands slide up and under the silk rose-colored robe she wore. He remembered picking it out for her. There was a matching rose-colored short camisole with thong panties that had tiny lace flowers along the trim.

“Mark, don’t lie to me. Just tell me the truth. I promise to not say anything to anyone.” She was so sweet and innocent. They’d taken that innocence from her last night. He wouldn’t flood her with the dangers of his profession.

He pressed his thumbs against her hip bones and pulled her closer. “You smell so good. I’m sorry, baby, but I can’t tell you about it. All I can tell you, because of what you heard Drake say, is that I’m not involved with Brenda. We’re friends, we worked together. She’s missing or involved with some bad people and now that I’ve pushed for more information, I’ve become involved.”

“Are you in danger?” she asked, holding onto him.

  He swallowed hard.

“This is what I do. You mean so much to me and what we shared last night was incredible. I look forward to more nights like that. Please, just understand that this is my job and protecting my family, you, is most important to me.”

He pressed his forehead gently against her belly then reached up and undid the tie to the robe. Pulling back, the silk parted. She wore the camisole and thong. Her belly was bare, her skin silky smooth and so lovely. He pressed his lips against her skin and closed his eyes wishing he could just quit his job and this case. But now that his informants were onto something big, and fellow agents were being attacked, he needed to remain involved and help bring justice to those agents and their families. Someone evil was involved with this, and they needed to be stopped.

He licked her skin, dipped his tongue into her belly button and then nipped along her waist to her hip bones. Pressing his palms upward against the silk material, he cupped her breasts and she moaned, tilting her head back.

  “I need you.”

  “Yes,” she whispered.

He pressed the panties down and then stood up, pulled off his shirt, and undid his pants before lifting Diane up and placing her onto the desk behind him.

When he looked at her, he was in awe of her beauty. The robe was hanging on the inside of her elbows, The camisole hung, too, revealing most of her full breasts with the silk balancing on her areolas. Her hands gripped the desk. Her legs were parted, and he could see her glistening cunt.

“You are the sexiest woman I have ever met,” he told her and then lowered to his chair, lifted her ass cheeks toward him, and delved into her pussy with tongue and teeth.

  * * * *

Diane was feeling overwhelmed, unsure, and a bit concerned. But now that Mark was touching her and staring at her body in such a hungry way, nothing else seemed to matter. She wondered how important Brenda really was. Obviously from Drake’s words, Mark had sex with Brenda. Okay, that was bound to happen. There were going to be women who they all had sex with. It shouldn’t bother her. But it did, until she felt Marks’s tongue and teeth attack her needy pussy.

She moaned and lifted her hips higher giving him better access to her cunt and ass. She loved how they pressed into both holes and how they took her anally. She wanted them together like that all the time. The thought of it aroused her, and she felt her pussy erupt and Mark suckle and slurp at her juices.

“You’re so damn responsive. Baby, you were made for us.” He stood up, pulled her off the edge, and thrust fully into her. She moaned at the move, watching his face strain, his veins puffed out by his eyes and temples. His grip tightened.

In and out he thrust hard, fast as the sound of the desk squeaking and rocking filled the room. He was so wild, so needy, and she wanted to make him happy. She wanted him to think only of her, not this Brenda woman or any other woman from his past. Would he confide in her eventually? Would he let her into his world, his private, secret life that he was so determined to hold on to? He increased his speed as he gripped her hips and stared down at her breasts.

“God, you feel so good, Diane. Never like this. I want everything with you. Believe me. Tell me that you believe me.”

“Yes. I believe you. I feel it, Mark,” she told him, and he thrust harder as he reached up and clutched her shoulders as he stroked into her fully.

She screamed her release as his cock rammed into her causing her to lose her breath. Mark exploded next, calling her name and then hugging her over the desk. His warm breath collided against her ear and neck tickling her skin.

“I love you. No matter what, know that I love you,” he told her.

She was shocked, yet she knew he was telling the truth and she knew that she loved him, too. But he sounded so desperate, so final or like he wouldn’t get a chance to tell her again. The tears hit her eyes and she hugged his head to her and caressed his hair and scalp.

“I love you, too, Mark. I’ll always be here for you. Know that. Tell me that you know that.”

He suckled her neck and squeezed her so tight she thought he might crack her ribs. “I know, baby, and I love you even more for that.”

Something was really bothering Mark. She felt it in her gut and knew it had to do with his work. It upset her that he couldn’t tell her, and that Drake and more than likely Lucas knew what this was all about. She needed to accept his need for privacy, but that didn’t mean she had to be happy about it. She just hoped that her gut was wrong, and that this relationship would last forever.

  Chapter 9

“Okay, I want details,” Melissa stated the moment Diane walked into work. Diane chuckled.

“I don’t recall asking you for details about your first date with you and your men.”

“That’s because you moved out here when I was already pregnant with Johnny.”

Diane placed her purse behind the counter and then leaned back against the counter. She thought about her men, and how they didn’t want her to leave them this morning, but she had work. She avoided reminding them about her trip at the end of the week to New York. It was funny, but she didn’t feel so excited about doing it anymore. But she couldn’t back out now. Elvira called and texted telling her about all the plans Monique made. The arrangements for their stay alone were costing thousands. She couldn’t possibly duff out on the woman now. She wanted to get it over with and then get back to Drake, Lucas, and Mark.

“Hello? Is this what you’ll be doing all day? Daydreaming about your men?” Melissa teased.

Diane winked at her. “Probably.” She heard the front door open.

“Okay, I want details,” Sage exclaimed and Melissa chuckled.

“Good luck. She’s not saying a word.”

Sage made a pouty face. “Are you kidding me? We’ve been waiting for those men to get up enough courage to make a move and when they finally do, you’re not going to share?” Sage asked in an uproar as she crossed her arms in front of her chest and stared at Diane.

  Diane laughed
. “Did I ask about you—”

“Yes, you did!” Sage interrupted, and Diane felt her cheeks blush. She had asked Sage a bunch of questions including about Mark. It was funny, but he caught her eye immediately. Once Mark, Drake, and Lucas moved into town, Diane had asked Sage about ménage relationships and how she felt initially after being exposed to them here in Pearl.

“Ahh, so Sage shared some juicy inside information with you, but you won’t share any with her, your best friend, never mind, me, your only sister.”

“Oh, brother. Fine. What do you want to know?” Diane asked, and Sage and Melissa smiled wide and moved closer.

“Did they kiss you?” Sage asked.

  “Yup,” Diane said and smiled.

“Hell, did you go home alone last night or did you wind up at their place?”

Diane stared at her sister, and Sage squealed. “Yes! Welcome to the club. How do you feel?” Sage asked.

  “What club?” Diane asked.

“The de-virginized ménage style, club,” Sage stated.

“Oh, God,” Diane said and chuckled.

“I’m part of that club, too, and very proud,” Melissa said, pretending to have an attitude.

“Well then, sister, I’m part of the club now, too,” Diane added with gusto. Melissa and Sage smiled wide then both hugged her.

“I’m so happy for you. Mark, Lucas, and Drake are wonderful men. Willie, Hank, and Paul completely checked them out and talked to them. I couldn’t be happier for you,” Melissa said as she pulled back. Sage chuckled at Diane’s shocked expression.

“Paul, Willie, and Hank talked to them? About me? When?”

“Okay, slow down. I could tell months ago that you were interested in them. I knew that you were never intimate with anyone around here, so I asked my men what they knew about the guys. Being that they care about you and feel responsible for your well-being, they started to ask some questions. They found out pretty quickly from Wyatt, Marco, and Quaid that Mark was interested in you. That was when Sage was going through all that crazy stuff last year.”

“Oh, don’t remind me. So it’s true, Mark moved himself and his brothers out here because of Diane?” Sage asked.

“How do you know about this? Why does everyone think Mark moved here because of me?”

“Diane, he did. He even told Paul.”

“No way.” Diane couldn’t believe it.

“Honey, Mark, Drake, and Lucas have been spreading the word for months now that you belong to them. I heard through the grapevine that Mark and Drake were pretty pissed off about seeing you with some guys around town,” Sage said.

“How could they do that yet never try to engage in deeper conversation with me or simply ask me out on a date? I don’t understand. It makes me wonder.”

  “About what, Diane?” Sage asked.

Diane thought about it a moment. Her heart was heavy.

  “Hey, what’s wrong?” Melissa asked.

Diane began to explain about this morning at their house and the way mark and Drake were arguing and about the woman Drake brought up.

“An ex-lover? Hell, I’m sure those men have many ex-lovers, just like my men did before me,” Sage stated.

“I admit that thinking about them with another woman upsets me, but all three of them weren’t with this Brenda woman, only Mark. Apparently she’s missing and she’s an agent.”

“Oh crap. That doesn’t sound good. Maybe he’s just concerned for that reason and they’re friends still?” Melissa suggested.

“It was weird, but I felt like there was more going on. Maybe it was Mark’s involvement in the investigation, maybe not knowing what he does and whether it’s dangerous or not, or simply it’s me feeling that lack of self-confidence that’s always held me back.”

“Not anymore, Diane. You did that fashion show. You’re headed to New York,” Melissa stated.

“Oh God, what did they say about you going to New York to shake your goodies for a magazine?” Sage asked.

“I’m not shaking my goodies. I’m trying on some things and they’re going to test me out to see if I photograph well. They probably won’t like me, and I probably won’t like doing it.”

“And if you love it, what are you going to do when they offer you a contract?” Sage asked.

“Shit, I didn’t think about that. What are you going to do?” Melissa asked.

Diane pulled her bottom lip between her teeth. “I don’t know. I really care for Drake, Lucas, and Mark, but this is all so new, and well, to be honest, I’m afraid that I’m falling in love with them.”

Melissa took Diane’s hand. “Honey, that’s nothing to be afraid of or upset about.”

Diane swallowed hard and then looked from Sage to Melissa. “What if they wanted me for so long, but now that they’ve had me, it’s not so wonderful or doesn’t last?”

“That’s what getting to know them is all about. Sure the lust, the desire, and physical attraction are there,” Melissa stated.

“It must have been because you slept with them. But, now comes the bonding, the getting to know each of them separately and together,” Sage added.

Diane thought about that a moment. It made sense. This was just the beginning of their relationship, so of course it was a learn-as-you-go thing. Plus, she didn’t know what New York would bring.

“I’m definitely going to New York. I think it’s the right thing to do because I promised Monique I would try it, and also, I don’t want Drake, Lucas, and Mark to think I’m all clingy and possessive. That could turn them off entirely.”

Sage chuckled. “You definitely need that ‘getting to know one another’ time.”

“What is that supposed to mean, Sage?” Diane asked.

“I’m involved with retired military, special agents, very similar men and personalities to yours. Their professions, their experiences, their personalities, scream possessiveness, control, and dominance. I’d be surprised if they actually let you out of their sight, or let you go alone.”

“Oh God, you’re right, one of them will probably insist on going with her,” Melissa said, and then she nibbled her bottom lip.

“No, they wouldn’t do that. This relationship is new.”

“Honey, you’ve seen how the men in Pearl are. They protect the women of Pearl, both single and not,” Melissa told her.

“I can take care of myself. I’ve had to for this long.”

“Paul, Willie, and Hank have been watching over you. Why do you think Mark got so angry with them that night he found you on the side of the road in the rain changing your tire?” Melissa added.

“Mark stopped to help you that night? Oh my, this is fate now, isn’t it?” Sage added and then winked.

Diane smiled. “He was pretty upset.”

“Exactly. So be prepared for them to talk you out of going to New York, or for one of them if not all of them to go with you,” Melissa told her.

“They can’t. They wouldn’t. Mark is working that case, remember? Lucas and Drake have their orders to complete, and besides, I’m not going alone, Sage is coming with me.”

Sage’s eyes widened and Melissa laughed as she walked around the counter to sit down.

“Now this is going to get really interesting,” Melissa said.

Diane winked at Sage. “It’s why I asked you to meet me here. Monique texted me last night. I got it this morning when I went home to shower and change. She said I could bring a friend so I would feel more comfortable.”

“And you’re asking me?” Sage asked, sounding excited.

“Yep. I would have asked Melissa, but she would be uncomfortable flying out there, and her men would never allow it, never mind baby Johnny.”

“Thanks for thinking of me,” Melissa said.

  Sage and Diane smiled.

“So go ask Dale, Virgo, Matt, and Quaid. Tell them I can send the itinerary to them and all our contact information including the hotel, the studio, and the limo driver’s number.”

  “
Limo driver?” Sage asked, sounding excited now, too.

“Oh yeah, we’re going first class, and we’ll have an escort with us the entire time.”

“Oh my God. What do I wear? What should I pack?”

Diane chuckled. “We’ll go over that this week. We leave Friday night and return late Monday night.”

“Oh God, they are so going to give me a hard time.”

“Well, tell them your best friend needs you and that we’ll have the escort and the limo driver. I’ll explain everything to them.”

“Maybe you can meet us at the Main Street Inn for dinner?” Sage asked.

“Okay, add four of us, I’ll ask the guys to come and break the news to them then, too.”

Melissa chuckled again. “You have no idea how bad this is going to backfire,” she teased.

“What could go wrong?” Diane asked, and the guilty, uncertain feeling hit her gut. She needed to gain some control here, or Drake, Lucas, and Mark would think she was the clingy, instant-arm-jewelry type.

  “I’ll meet you there at 6:00 p.m.”

“Okay. Thanks,” Sage said and hugged her. Then she waved good-bye to Melissa.

“I think I’m going to see if Paul, Willie, and Hank want to go out to dinner tonight. I don’t want to miss this little scam of yours,” Melissa teased.

Diane gave her sister a sassy look. “It’s not a scam. It’s a means to avoid the deeper reasoning behind me going to New York.”

  “It’s pretty obvious to me.”

“That’s because I told you why. The relationship is very new. The modeling gig just happened to come up at the same time. I wouldn’t ask Mark to stop working on this case he’s working on so he can court me. Why should I cancel this opportunity?”

Melissa took a deep breath and released it. “I guess you’re sticking to your guns, no matter what anyone says. I just hope you know what you’re doing.”

“I do. I’m going to be able to look back in the mirror one day and remember this trip and not have any regrets. I won’t wonder what would have happened, or if I had given up on an opportunity of a lifetime because of my lack of confidence and my immediate need to be cared for and protected by Lucas, Drake, and Mark. I have to do this. I have to, or Mark, Lucas, and Drake will think they already have complete control of me and that I can’t make any decisions without them. That would definitely be the wrong way to start off this complicated, untraditional type of relationship.”
