Lord Dragon's Conquest Page 8

by Sharon Ashwood

Larkan circled the beach slowly, but no one appeared by land, sea or sky. Eventually, he landed and transformed back into a man. Keltie’s face grew warm. Tall, lean and sculpted with muscle, Larkan was a vision she would never get used to. Just looking at him drove the chill of the flight from her bones.

“This is paradise,” he said. “And it is the home of dragons.”

Keltie gazed around at the sapphire water and white sand. “Nice decor. More natural light than your last home.”

Larkan gathered her in his arms, ignoring the excited chatter as other dragons turned back to their human forms. “You are my home,” he said, and he pressed his mouth on hers, devouring her as if they had been apart for a long time.

Keltie grew dizzy with a desire as insistent as the crashing surf beside them. Larkan growled in a way that said he felt it, too. He picked her up with the same effortless strength another man might use to gather up a kitten, and Keltie suddenly had a view of the dancing fronds of palm trees.

“What are you doing?” she protested. “What about the others?”

“Let them have their moment of discovery. I see caves over there.” And with that, Larkan began carrying her away from the shore. “Privacy would be good.”

From his tone, Keltie knew it would be useless to protest. She was more than happy to help him celebrate his first moments of true liberty. And now the adventure truly begins. Whether it was on a dig site, in the air, or in their bed, life with Larkan would never be boring—that much was clear.

They made it out of sight of their companions, but didn’t quite reach the cave. Here be dragons was all she had time to think before she surrendered to Larkan’s kiss.
