Livy and Hudson turned to Logan nodding slowly.
Logan started to smile. “Oh, crap.”
“Why are you smiling,” said Livy.
“Livy, remember our agreement to not share any of our pasts with each other?” Livy looked at Logan and she nodded.
“Livy, this is my brother, Hudson.” Logan said.
Livy bounded to her feet.
“What!”
Hudson turned to Livy. “I don’t know how this happened, Livy. I’ve tried to talk to you. You wouldn’t return my calls. The flowers were the only way I knew to let you know how I feel about you.”
“Flowers?” Logan approached his brother. “You’ve been sending my fiancé flowers?”
“Her mother.” Hudson replied.
Logan turned to Hudson, his eyes glaring. “You’ve met her mom?”
“Logan, this is not what you think—.” Suddenly Livy paused. She leaned back against the counter, flushed.
“Liv,” Hudson replied. “This is a lot to take in, I know. For me too.”
“What do you mean?” Livy said.
“Our moms used to experience the same thing right before they knew were pregnant,” Hudson said to Livy.
Livy felt the bottom drop out from her feet. “Say what? I can’t be. It took my mom six tries before she got pregnant with me. That’s completely impossible.”
“Unless you believe in sixes,” Logan said.
Livy stared at Logan, and she shook her head slowly. “I’ve been with the two of you, and, the two of you are, brothers?”
“Half-brothers, by marriage,” said Hudson.
“I’m the eldest,” preened Logan.
“And, do either of you remember if we used protection?”
Logan and Hudson shared a glance. Livy grabbed the counter for support. “Oh, goodness.”
Hudson and Logan rushed to Livy’s side.
“This is good news,” said Logan.
“No, it’s great news,” chimed Hudson.
“We love you, you’re going to have a baby. You’ll meet the conditions of your grandfather Donovan’s will, and you’re already engaged, to one of us—.” Hudson said.
Livy stared at Hudson and then she glared at both men.
“Have both of you lost your minds! Do you know what we’ve done—and practically together?”
Both brothers looked at one another. “Yes.” They said in unison.
“I love you,” said Hudson.
“I love you,” Logan said.
“Well I don’t love either of you!” Livy raced outside the building.
The sun shone bright on a lovely June day.
Livy saw two pairs of squirrels frolicking on the branches of a Willow. You don’t know how easy you’ve got it, thought Livy.
Hudson and Logan rushed to find Livy.
Livy stuck out her hand. “Now look you two. You’re both, great guys, I’m sure, and, you’re very handsome, for sure,” Livy said. “But I’m not ready to get married!”
Logan and Hudson looked at Livy.
“You were ready to wed me before you knew who we were,” replied Logan.
“Yeah. And you slept with me when I was the enemy,” said Hudson.
Livy shook her head. “You’re both just after my family’s company so you can steal it,” Livy rubbed her stomach again.
“What company?” Logan said.
“You know that feeling you have,” said Hudson. “It is the same our mom’s had before they conceived,” Hudson reminded.
Livy saw Logan nod. “That’s right. My mom told me her mother and her mom before her always felt topsy-turvy before each learned she was pregnant.
Livy stood. “Wait. You’re both crazy. You’re saying I’m pregnant and on top of that, you’re saying you aren’t after my family’s business after all?”
“Maybe we were, maybe we weren’t,” said Hudson. “The reason no longer exists now. Does it?”
Logan and Hudson drew near to stand on either side of Livy.
“The real question, is which of us do you love, and which one of us do you intend to marry?” Logan said.
“I don’t love either you, you—brutes!” Livy turned into the sunshine.
Livy rubbed her tummy and she knew what the Fox brothers said must be true. One dark, the other light, they were like two halves of a Ying and Yang, symbol. Only now, Livy had gone and managed to get herself tangled in a ménage she never dreamed was possible.
Better, was Livy knew she had feelings for both men.
“You know there’s an easier way to pick your future and lover and the future husband of your soon to be little bundle of joy,” said Poppy.
Logan, Hudson, and Livy stared to Poppy.
“And what would that be, Poppy Hepburn, girl-fearless, who does what she wants, because she’s independent?” said Livy.
“Let’s ask the Ball,” Poppy said.
Livy turned from Logan and Hudson and stared at the brothers.
“In six to nine months, we’re going to know anyway, and nothing you can do Livy Castle, is going to stop that,” Hudson said slowly.
“Livy Castle? Your grandfather, he ran The Castle Agency,” Logan stated.
“Mm-hm,” Livy replied, the way her friend Francis always did.
Livy knew the implication was she may soon become a billionaire and not once, but twice, if the rumors about the Foxtail Empire were doubly true…
“You know you love us,” Hudson quietly said.
“The only thing you need is to say which of us, you will marry,” said Logan.
“Until that day, there’s always fortunetelling.”
Livy, Hudson, and Logan head the sound of swishing and they looked at Poppy.
“Who is ready to guess what nobody can possible predict?
“Poppy, that is crazy,” Livy said.
Poppy asked the 8-Ball a question.
“Who will Livy Castle marry?” Poppy shook the 8-Ball, looking at Livy, Hudson, and Logan, who waited for the ball to give its response…
